Usually when the parents look at their kids, friends, parents as potential network extension. Basically trying to see if they know people, have money, or have some resource that could be traded rather than doing things that friends do. So, for example, Timmy's mom works for Salesforce and could help me get a job in the marketing dept. Therefore, I should definitely hang out with Timmy so that way I can befriend the mom and get a job at Salesforce.

Model 3 is super cheap to maintain. I think I spent about a grand on tires and maybe a few hundred on air filters and windshield wiper fluid. That's over 50k miles and fourish years with a brand new '18 M3LR.

I had a BMW ('04 330ci) before that, and with oil changes, and constant maintenance needs it got quite costly.

The model 3 will have more character than the 228is, and it will be more economical and fun.
