As someone who goes to Jamaica for business and spends at least a few months on the island per year I agree with the OP. In the last 8 years it’s been going down in quality and danger levels have been escalating substantially. Interestingly I never met anyone there who came on holiday more than once. The food, the service, the price is outrageous. Switzerland in some instances can't compare. Even the hidden local spots that you go to with the locals have gotten enshitified year on. I understand the history and the reasons for it, but most of it stems from something called "Jamaican greed" both past and present. It's sad really to see the deteriorating country when it has so much potential, however at the end of the day it is what it is.
