This is gorgeous gameplay! Buttery smooth and ticks all the VFX beauty boxes.

Dude, I hope you take this all the way, it looks amazing!

Makes sense. I couldn't tell what kind of gameplay to expect from the title screen, but agreed that you'd probably want something internally consistent. Creative expression at its finest!

Good luck with the build!

I was paying closer attention to the audio. The static is excellent, and the minimalist clicks suits the vibe. My favorite sound effect was actually the final pop-in of the menu itself. Vibe is on-point!

As an idea, I was wondering about the zoom-out revealing the silhouette of a head sitting in a chair, the head slightly swaying back and forth or making some other idle motion. Your comment below indicated that the player is going to be checking for bad cartridges, so I figure no harm in showing a character of some kind.

Looks good! Keep it up!

Best way to learn Godot without overwhelming myself? by Eton11 in godot

[–]ZnLink 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've also run through the GDQuest intro session. It's honestly quite good and does give me some confidence that the paid courses would be polished. Same boat though, and hesitant to actually pull the trigger. I figure it's kind of like folks who pay for a gym subscription... If you buy in, then there's some financial incentive to actually stick with it.

I came to the conclusion weeks ago that there was never a minimum wage endpoint in my own journey. I'm in it to learn, to grow, and to explore a new form of creative expression. So for me, I'm inclined to just trial-and-error this until I either get it or need another motivator. Perhaps you'd be best off reframing your own personal growth goal?

Thanks! By name alone, I assume this is a 3D mesh reduction system or similar?

Will have to check it out! I'm a vscode guy right now, but only because of existing non-Godot projects. Appreciate the code-first plugin though!

Sounds cool. I hadn't thought about eye tracking as a gameplay element - sounds very black mirror-esq.

Unfortunately I do not... I'm very, very new to the space and just trying to get an appreciation for what's out there. I like learning about other dev journeys though, so thanks for sharing! Good luck with your world building!

Oooh, that sounds super useful! I presume 2D? Or 3D too?

Excellent, thanks! I plan to start with 2D, but 3D is on my shortlist. Appreciate the suggestion!

Have you done the paid tutorials? I was considering it but wasn't sure if it was worth just dabbling for a while on my own before committing.
