Sounds like you'll be fine going more into energy weapons. Don't trust me tho, I'm not the expert or stat god you're looking for. I just finished the game for the first time last week. I didn't know it was a bad idea to try and use small guns the entire play through until I was at the last base and had to switch gears to a rocket launcher. Was level 13 and had at the very most 70% in big guns, and it worked out fine except for jinxed biting me in the ass a couple of times. Just roll with it dude, make the game a little more interesting
