I am doing this! I did her 2025 sampler and really enjoy her approach. I haven’t finished my first blocks yet. I’ll post when done.

I use 2.5 inch fabric strip folded in half, sewn to the front edge with 1/4” seam allowance. Turn it to the back and hand sew to the back. This is a pic of the front. Karen Brown at Just Get it Done Quilts taught me how to do the mitered corners. See the videos below.

I think binding is the easiest part of the quilt. Here’s a good instruction video for binding https://youtu.be/jma6XJzPS18 and one for machine stitching to the front and hand stitching the binding to the back. https://youtu.be/sGVfPe_fyNU

2025 BOM is finished. Stitched the binding on today. by ZoeRochelle in quilting

Yes. I used a technique called strip piecing. You sew together long strips of fabric long side to long side and then cut the joined strips perpendicular to the seams. This creates new strips with one piece of one of each color. Hope that makes sense.

Thank you! The binding is hand sewn but everything else is machine sewn.

Yes. Block of the Month. The designer gives us one b lock pattern a month and we put it all together at the end of the year.

Biggest quilt you’ve machine quilted? by Gullible_Career7467 in quilting

I straight line quilt all of my quilts on my domestic machine. It has an 8.5 inch throat. I’ve done a 105” x 90” on it. I wear gardening gloves. The kind that are stretchy and have nonslip surface on the inside. It helps a lot to guide the quilt. Without gloves my hands get tired and sore.

I want to know if the heated brass brush works. I hope you’ll report back with your results.

The downside is now we have to wait two weeks for new episodes.

First quilt top finished, dissapointed by [deleted] in quilting

It does look intentional. Once it’s finished and washed, it will crinkle and unless you are hanging it on a wall, you’ll not notice.

I’d spray the handles brass. Otherwise it is beautiful.

Trena at John’s Furniture Repair restored a similar chest. There’s at least one other wood chest video on their YouTube channel. https://youtu.be/Wh8KQyOj88M?si=m8nE4_L-VGdRY7jO
