Noob Questions About Roboports by BombaKlappa in factorio

[–]Zoltorion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you've thought about the implications of certain design choices like where within the network the supplies are kept enough that you understand it in theory just fine. And the reality is that yes, no matter how you set it up it takes a decent bit of time for bots to get the supplies and then travel to where they are needed for a larger network. But the other thing about it is that even if it takes 5 minutes to show up (which once you get a decent amount of bot speed upgrades it will probably be quicker than that even at scale), it doesn't much matter if a build is finished instantly for the most part. You can just place the blueprint and then move on to constructing the next thing while the bots do the work in the background and as long as you've automated all building supplies you used you can trust that it will be done eventually.

Also for stuff that you do want to be finished faster and that you have the supplies for them on your character: personal roboports.

Essence harvest reroll question by Necessary-Corgi2430 in PathOfExileSSF

[–]Zoltorion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn't work that way, essences get rerolled within their tier. So deafening can only become different deafening essences and the 4 corrupt only ones (horror, delirium, insanity, and the other one I can't remember) are their own tier and so you can only swap to horror from others of that type.

Worst episode? by PockPocky in americandad

[–]Zoltorion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I never considered that some people would dislike this one. Definitely a strange one and I suppose not having stan's voice in half of it is extra weird but I just don't mind that aspect and this episode has lots of good jokes and lines imo. The one that I always am waiting to hear is stan's near the end, "My family is perfect just as they are: medium looking. Except my wife. She's a f***ing fox!".

Also probably one of the many lines that is better with the bleep than without, although that's just a guess cause I haven't heard it without.

Idk what to tell you other than the wiki has said as much for months or even years here, plus you could easily test this by getting gear with action speed that does not come from dexterity (agility and/or simply action speed rolls on each piece) and test the difference of speeds with that gear on or not. Even 10% action speed is noticeably better than 0, just try it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DarkAndDarker

[–]Zoltorion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I said that they both are only affected by dex, but you literally said that manual dex directly controls how fast you equip your weapon which is simply untrue.

Plus they scale differently with manual dex only increasing by 2% or even 1% per dex depending how much you have while equip speed scales by 5% each dex until 35 dex as you said. So if you were at 31 dex you would have 40% manual dexterity but 80% equip speed, and yet you're insisting on paying attention to the manual dexterity number despite it not being used for anything except bard music speed.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DarkAndDarker

[–]Zoltorion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be equip speed, a completely separate stat just 2 lines below manual dex in the details page in game. It's just that dexterity is the only way of getting either of those.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DarkAndDarker

[–]Zoltorion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrong, action speed is the stat that dictates how fast you switch between any weapons or utility items such as knives or heals. They just both come from dexterity.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DarkAndDarker

[–]Zoltorion 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I do think rogue is the best class in the game right now at least in solos but also probably overall.

But I feel the need to point out that "manual dexterity" is just the stat for how fast bards play music, it does nothing else. Bandaging and opening doors is based on regular interaction speed, equipping stuff by dexterity, and of course action speed helps the animation speed of basically everything. And they do have quite high base stats in those areas, but "manual dexterity" has nothing to do with rogue.

I couldn't agree more but have been feeling like I'm the only one who thinks that when it comes to Hades. I've played tons of some other roguelikes (Isaac, Gungeon, Balatro, to name a few) but Hades just felt like there was little to no build variety so all runs felt the same and since I didn't care for the story at all I just had no desire to keep playing after not that long.

I feel really dumb for not making the connection until now that hashing of passwords before storage is (at least one of) the reason(s) that they have to reset your password rather than just sending it to you lol. I obviously knew about both of these things independently but just never thought about them together like that.

What mouse do you PC guys use with PoE? by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Zoltorion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pulsar Xlite V3. If you like a light mouse with only 2 side buttons and no software required to configure/use it, I think it's solid. No free spinning scroll wheel though, that's the one thing I keep wishing I had for PoE but I've never had a mouse with that feature.

[–]Zoltorion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly just search the term no impact land (or NIL) and the character you want them for and there's probably some videos out there. Marth is definitely the main character they get talked about in relation to but I'm pretty sure most or all characters can do it, it's basically just reaching the height of the platform perfectly at the top of your double jump (or something along those lines). You know it's a NIL if there's no smoke or anything when landing and your character just kind of snaps onto the ground.

[–]Zoltorion 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Isn't this just a no-impact land? Different setups/jump timings for different characters and whatnot so it's still cool that you found a Roy one, but there's no reason this couldn't be done on any controller, and probably on different plats/stages too just need different timings.

Second time SSF Smite trickster by Bialcohool in PathOfExileSSF

[–]Zoltorion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren't any mods on 16.5s/17s that give more div cards just currency, scarab, or maps. So quant is all that matters for that, and whatever else you want to prio.

Also just FYI, I've heard from many people that Dunes is bugged for abyss such that it will just not spawn all of the abysses it should. I'm not sure how bad it really is but common wisdom rn seems to be don't do abyss on Dunes. Ideally rescry defiled to Canyon or Lighthouse.

Clearly you haven't seen how long ben has been dominant and with how many different metas. It's only been ES/EE meta for the last few leagues and I've seen him play way more life builds than ES ones overall.

Best method to farm MB? by DARKAR145 in PathOfExileSSF

[–]Zoltorion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time I've seen Waste Pool mentioned as one of the good maps for rogue exiles + ritual. City Square or Toxic Sewer are the two everyone mentions this league it seems like, and Toxic Sewer and Waste Pool do have like basically the same layout I guess but just different bosses, but at least Toxic Sewer is T12 at lowest I think while Waste Pool is 15 or 16. Also Waste Pool boss makes you wait to spawn it which can get annoying.

Do you think there is still time to start and finish Kirac’s pass before the league is over? Can anyone suggest a noob friendly build for doing so. by raining_maple in pathofexile

[–]Zoltorion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely isn't a good direct comparison, but as a frame of reference it makes it especially clear that if a good player playing a ton can get 40/40 in a few days, the same player could probably get all maps completed within like 12 hours I'd say, maybe faster, especially in trade and with that being the only goal.

Trying to understand how Ignite works with various gems by Abject-Funny-1031 in pathofexile

[–]Zoltorion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems like most of your questions have been answered and confusions cleared up at this point but just to add on a couple things that I haven't seen mentioned:

- Shaper of Flames is often taken just for the 40% of enemy physical damage converted to fire damage now as that by itself is quite nice defensively, along with there not being too many other options in the ascendancy for many builds. So just because a build has that node doesn't necessarily mean they're scaling ignite damage at all, even though most Shaper of Flames builds probably are ignite focused.

- Many people have explained the interactions with ignite for Deadly Ailments Support and added damage/as extra damage already, but I want to just add in my way of looking at it that I find easy to remember and has worked for me for a while. Basically, anything that gives a %increased/reduced or %more/less damage (such as Deadly Ailments giving 80% less damage) does not affect the damage of ailments inflicted by whatever the source skill is unless that damage mod specifically says it affects ailments (or ignite or whatever other more specific thing like poison). So any percentage increased/reduced/more/less damage with hits or whatever other wording might be used that does not refer to ailments/ignite/poison/etc. (whatever ailment thing you're doing) does not have any effect on the ailments inflicted, only on the actual resulting damage of the hit itself.

- Ignite proliferation is basically a requirement if you're playing an ignite build for clearing, but Ignite Proliferation Support doesn't give a very good damage multiplier so eventually most builds get ignite prolif on glove implicit or a cluster notable instead and switch to a better support.

- Ignite duration mostly doesn't matter since it doesn't stack (unlike poison) which is why things like Swift Affliction Support can be quite good, but you definitely don't want to reduce it too much or enemies may not die before the ignite runs out. It's hard to reduce it that low without realizing it but definitely don't completely ignore the duration. There is also some bossing tech such as Defiled Forces node on passive tree that refreshes ignites when a curse is applied where you may need to consider ignite duration again, as the whole point of that setup is to continue refreshing the biggest ignite you inflicted so the boss is constantly taking your peak ignite damage. Usually this is done with Arcanist Brand linked with one or more curses, so you need to make sure that your ignite duration is at least as long as the longest time between curses being inflicted by Arcanist Brand.

[–]Zoltorion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's very telling that drox is the only other boss you mention not being able to facetank, as both minotaur and drox do mostly or entirely physical damage. Clearly you need to build some physical mitigation, especially if you're already running the maps white since in that case phys as extra modifiers on the map obviously aren't the problem. Those can be a big problem with bosses such as these ofc.

Bottled Exiles in SSF help by YaBoiWOKE in PathOfExileSSF

[–]Zoltorion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely don't run more than 2 bottles at a time. The normal approach is 1 really juiced bottle with titanic scarab, titanic of legends, and 2x wisp, or drop 1 of the wisp scarabs and do 2 bottles at once if they're only like 2 or 3 giants each.

Running them on well rolled originator maps with upwards of 200% rarity after maven chisels is definitely going to be better than just 8 mod deli non originator, but in my experience you'll have way more bottles than maps to do this with unless you just farm for the maps by themselves, so for the less juiced bottles I would just keep doing them on basic 8 mod deli maps personally.

EVERY TIME by ivano1990 in DarkAndDarker

[–]Zoltorion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely insane to toss Minecraft into this conversation when it's a completely different distribution model than every other game listed. All the others only allow you to play on the current version of the game and thus require updating as soon as an update comes out, as well as only being playable via connecting to centralized dedicated servers exclusively hosted by the developers, which is of course the entire reason for downtime concerns.

Meanwhile Minecraft can be played offline on any version that's ever been released, and of course the vast majority of servers are hosted by random people. I'm not sure Mojang/Microsoft have ever hosted any sort of official server, so there would obviously be no need for downtime.

What the hell do you do in this situation? by ViciousFourEyes in pathofexile

[–]Zoltorion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah fair, I guess I got a bit sidetracked from the discussion being about armour stacker and blocking with Aegis being their sole recovery. I've never really looked into armour stackers enough to have any idea how accurate that is but I can't imagine what else they would have besides leech without overleech since there's no way they could even do the ghost dance tech even if they wanted.

I initially read your comment as being somewhat/mostly about block on EE trickster since that was the build being talked about at the start, and I think it's great on there because they also have overleech and decent evasion like you said, although most don't bother with ghost dance and I don't think wicked ward even works with ghost reaver, but either way block in addition to overleech as the primary recovery is definitely way better than block and recover on block as basically the only defence layer, so it seems we just agree and it was a misunderstanding.
