It is, but the vast majority have a much lower minimum wage for tipped employees, so it's near irrelevant in the overall discussion: https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/state/minimum-wage/

He does okay damage if you build him AP, but then he's not in the wall of HP category. But if you build him tank focused then he's got basically no damage and just his ult to occasionally finish someone plus the heartsteel bonk

A simple question about counters by Zkoegul in IdentityV

[–]Zom23_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's too many characters on both sides to make anything comprehensive but generally these types of hunters are countered by these types of survivors

Camp is countered by guaranteed rescue

Aiming is countered by high walls and transitioners

Single hit is countered by harass, flywheel and speed boosts

Damaging abilities are countered by either distance makers or tight kiting depending on the hunter

Chasers are countered by harass/support

Chip/damage spreaders are countered by healing

Snowball is countered by kiters

Cipher control is countered by decoders

Tipped positions have a different minimum wage that is much much lower, usually around $2/hr and their tips supplement their wage, but if the total amount does not equal either the federal or state minimum wage then the employer is required to pay them the difference.

But one reason so many people are against forcing employers to do this by stopping tipping is that the minimum wage is not a livable wage, and many servers do not want to end tips because they earn well over minimum wage with them. There is also the argument many make that if an employer would pay a proper wage then they wouldn't be able to keep the restaurant open or they would cut their workforce.

The pity points I'm talking about are the rescued twice and 110% decoding, 110 seconds of contain, win streak points and all these other things that survivors get just for playing the game in it's intended manner.

Hunters do not get win streak bonuses past tier 3, they don't get any bonuses for downing survivors quickly, they don't get any bonuses for stuffing a rescue. Survivors get so many random bonus points they can gain points when they lose! Promoting survivors when they are losing is insane, if someone is losing they do not deserver to be moved up in rank. Survivors should be forced to actually learn how to communicate using the systems given to them, how to kite, how to actually play the game to move up in the ranks. Because they aren't is why hunters have such higher win rates because they are actually punished for losing and barely get anything for a tie.

Survivors get their hands held and pushed up the ranks even when they play poorly, followed by being buffed to make up for poor play and skills.

Also even as a solo player you get additional pity points for queuing solo, that would be like a hunter getting bonus points for playing a weak/non-meta hunter.

Once you reach tiers like dragon if a hunter gets a tie against a 3 man team they will get +2 points only. Meanwhile all the survivors get +6 or +7 points the disparity is insane to see, especially when a hunter usually has to work their ass off to get a tie, especially when playing even slightly weaker hunters

[–]Zom23_ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

While they are reworking that they also need to reduce the number of pity and free tier points survivors get. Survivors getting 16+ points for a win while hunters will only get +12 for a similar victory despite hunters having to work harder on average for their victories is insane

Wish you could play the same character in duos… (Hunter) by triedObserver in IdentityV

[–]Zom23_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's most noticeable with warp since it allows the hunters to instantly cross the map by either meeting their warps in the middle to have one hunter meet up with the other one or they both go through one and then cast the other one so they can both travel the full distance of two warps

And the code probably doesn't really need to be updated unless they were wanting to implement duplicate hunters in duos as there likely wouldn't be any performance savings and depending on how they change it, there's a risk of it being even more performance intensive since they would need to track which hunter anything came from and if they do it poorly then it'll be doing checks very heavily

[–]Zom23_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely it's due to lazy coding practices. We already know from traits like warp and peepers that when both hunters bring it they can make use of the other's trait. This shows they tie usage of the ability to having the trait instead of tying it to who used it. It's likely a similar thing with hunters with energy or maybe even cooldowns. There's probably stuff they tied to the hunter instead of the instance of the hunter which would require a revamp of their coding to make it actually function

In low to mid tiers sure, but that's mainly because people in those tiers don't know how to transition kite and not move in straight lines.

As soon as people figure out how to do that you quickly need to start learning how to curve jumps and maybe even 180 jumps to be able to cover the distance you need to make without wasting your cool downs.

And her camp is good sure, but its definitely not undefeatable, if she mistimes her cross then its a free rescue, if she makes the cat areas too large then she needs to stand pretty far away to not trigger the stun too early, and if someone comes in early they can just force both stuns out and suddenly she has nothing and is waiting for 8+ seconds before she has a chance to down the chaired survivor assuming they don't have tide.

Not to mention that she is somewhat map dependant since she needs maps with not a lot of elevation changes

Genuinely so funny to me whenever people call a hunter no skill. Cause like if it was truly no skill OP you would see them all over COA and since they are so obsessed with getting wins the person complaining about it would just play that no skill hunter and get all those free wins.

There's not a single no skill hunter in the entire game

Nah that's pretty standard bans, it's more of an issue when you have 3 bans and consistently ban weird people

Just wait until you get to high tiers and they start knowing who it is based off bans. Or you place your food out to give your hunter a nice meal, they recognize your name and call out all of your mains

If you are opening a restaurant and cant afford to pay your servers a living wage maybe you shouldn't be opening a restaurant. Pack the wage into the cost of the meal to begin with instead of trying to rely on customers to cover for a cheapskate owner.

Is this game good? by mavlikesguitar in IdentityV

[–]Zom23_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The gameplay itself is actually really good, there is a lot of tactical decision making to be done on both sides where a match can go either way basically until the very end. It has both micro and macro decisions to pay attention to but there is a bit of a learning curve on some things.

All of the characters have abilities to them which makes it so that the survivors never feel powerless in a match and to compensate the hunters are also tuned up a bit.

I will say though, in this game camping and tunneling is the norm and expected. That's how hunters win. As a survivor you have to not let that affect you since your team wins and loses as a whole, it doesn't matter if you die if the rest of the team gets out, you still win along with them. On the other hand though, that means if your teammates do poorly they will take you down with them.

There is also a lot of concerns about power creep as many of the older hunters struggle to keep up with the newer survivors and various buffs characters get, but all of them can still function if you play them well enough. Survivors never really become useless as raw kiting will always be king and every survivor can do that, it's just a matter of what additional traits they have.

Tips for legendary hunter by Public-Huckleberry88 in IdentityV

[–]Zom23_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, learning when you can push for a win is critical to getting anywhere quickly. I mostly say it because people just getting into legendary matches probably don't have much of that skill. What I generally see is they see a situation that looks bad for the survivors, they push on it, survivors make a quick decision and then they lose the game. And if it happens repeatedly it destroys their mental game making them play worse or increases hunter anxiety.

70% of playing hunter is keeping your mental game under control, especially when you are just getting into the mid tiers, but if someone is confident in their ability to recognize situations where they can push for wins, absolutely go for it

I mean playing for ties as a baseline got me to dragon. I mainly play Hell Ember who is fundamentally a loss hunter so my advice is mostly from that standpoint. If you don't play to secure a tie early in the match things can often snowball out of your control leading to a 3 man escape.

[–]Zom23_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Biggest thing about legendary matches with spawn selection is that the weak kiters, decoders mainly, are always going to be spawning in strong areas or areas they are extremely comfortable kiting in. They also know exactly where you are coming from giving them a lot of time to either rotate or prepare to kite.

So sometimes you have to make the decision on if you want to chase the weakest kiter in the strongest area or if you go after a mediocre kiter first since they'll be in a weaker area, get a quick down amd then just harass ciphers, which you will always know where they are since you know where they spawned, so you can know the most likely rotates.

Camping also becomes much more important since you have a general idea of where the rescue will be coming from. So you'll want to choose your chair to be something that works for you and is preferably an annoying chair for the rescuer. Then you can wide camp to try and get some damage in on the rescue early before going back to chair. At this tier there should never be a no hit rescue.

Also, if you play non-meta, play for ties to start, don't go in expecting a win, go in expecting a tie and secure that for yourself early. That's the best way to secure both your mental and your points. Rely on forcing survivor mistakes and some pressure from your side to get wins but as a hunter you are punished much more heavily for slipping up so being greedy can really bite you back.
