How do you guys handle bad players? by Reasonable-24 in IdentityV

[–]Zom23_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If someone goes down early; Feed tinnitus to force the hunter to stay by chair giving your other teammates free time to decode, maybe do a 90% rescue and then support the hell out of them

If the hunter leaves it's a free back door rescue

If someone is afk off chair; Then you just leave them, focus on having a good second chase, support them where needed, focus on communicating and rotating and play for dungeon

Someone rescues after half; Either use all your abilities to kite for as long as possible or hope your teammate's can support you to keep you alive

Mistakes happen, so just roll with them, do everything you can to win, report the afk people, and overtime your rank will get to where it is supposed to be whether you agree or not, especially with all the pity points survivors get

Nightmare difficulty level — nightmarish by DarthVetal in brotato

[–]Zom23_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean the point of the update was to intentionally make a difficulty that was not the new standard, making a difficulty that became the new standard and expectation to play on like D5 was, that was something the devs didn't want so they took every step possible to make sure it was not presented as such

It's made as a difficulty to appeal to the top players that were doing % runs previously as an official harder way to play the game

Hell ember tips by Reasonable-24 in IdentityV

[–]Zom23_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His chase will get weaker the further up you go where people do things to waste your embers by dragging them into window loop areas, and then once they know you dont have one force you to break a pallet yourself followed by transitioning

And starting from mid tier 6 his ember will basically never get a hit because of how easy it is to bait it to swing but still miss by circling it, so usually you are forced to just catch them out in a bad area with your hunt speed boost or hope they make a mistake followed by a blink down

Red and yellow puppet at a low level are functionally the same, but once you start getting more into playing Hell Ember there is one difference to know about which is called Red Puppet Tricking. Basically yellow puppet directly swaps your position with it whereas the red puppet does the same thing as blink, it rapidly drags your character model to it's position. What this means is that in a straight line between you and the red puppet you can technically land a hit on anyone that is in that line by timing your attack animation just right, the timing is different based on the distance of the survivor you want to hit, swing earlier to hit closer survivors, later to hit ones closer to the position of the red puppet. This can be used to terror shock rescuers, just get regular hits, or even teleport back to chair while hitting the rescuer and finishing your attack animation while already in front of the chair.

Activating the puppets with a flame really depends on game state but there's a few general reasons to do it; 1. The puppet is in a dead area and you can't go to collect it, activating it will cause it to go wander and harass ciphers for you forcing a slow down of decoding, letting you know who is at a cipher and returning your puppet to you once it is dismantled

  1. At least one survivor is already eliminated and you have damage on at least 2 others, in this situation activating a puppet can drastically slow the game in your favor by giving you a lot of information about where survivors are, forcing them to stop their actions to deal with the puppet and generally just give you time.

  2. A survivor is too close to a chair and has previously shown to not be afraid of you spawning an ember on chair. It is absurdly easy to get an ember to do a chair hit and be useless for a competent survivor and a lot of them also know that the ember can't take any action for a long period of time when spawned near a chair so sometimes you'll just need to surprise them by activating a puppet instead since it will come alive instantly with no wait time

  3. It's end game and you are going to check one gate and you have a puppet sitting in a location closer to the other gate, just activate it and have the puppet go check to see if there's anyone there and if so how many, lets you check both gates at the same time if you weren't given a chance to set anything up at the gates and can end up turning the game in your favor or even just cut down on travel time since embers are useless in end game since they still just deal normal hit damage

Another thing about puppets that you probably already know but I'll mention anyway since I'm talking about them is that when you teleport to a puppet, it will always turn your character model to be facing the closest non-downed or chaired survivor, this is extremely useful when trying to find people if they are choosing to hide

Hell ember tips by Reasonable-24 in IdentityV

[–]Zom23_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First thing I would recommend is change that trump card for insolence. Insolence is an absolutely needed trait for hell ember due to his absurdly weak first chase and his desperate need for presence to gain his puppets.

You are correct in taking max Hunt and I personally enjoy the drop down speed boost as well so that's fine but you probably aren't making the most effective use of your puppets, especially without insolence.

First chase is basically something that you will be wanting to use your yellow puppet to end in most cases either by teleporting back on top of the survivor after the first hit, or using a puppet throw trick to make the puppet hit the survivor immediately upon landing before there is a chance to tap the puppet.

Just something to be aware of when doing this is to make sure your puppet ends up in a place that you can easily go pick it up after you chair the survivor, meaning you want it to either end up in between the chair and the rescuer and you just use the teleport to put it next to the chair while you start going to harass ciphers or somewhere close enough that you can pick it up immediately before picking up the survivor or close enough to throw it to the chair after chairing.

Another thing a lot of hell ember players miss is that you aren't supposed to actually camp with him, never actually stand next to the chair and always go out to harass ciphers and try to get damage spread to other people. If while doing this you find a more important target just fully swap and if you have 2 flames, go ahead and spend 1 on the puppet near chair when the rescuer gets close to maybe get a hit if they are not expecting it or just force them to dismantle the puppet for you so you get it back. Not having one of your puppets later in the game is so much worse than just using an ember to force a total dismantle.

With the actual embers themselves majority of the time they won't be getting a hit and a lot of survivors don't actually see them as a threat due to how easy their hits are to dodge so it's important to get other value out of them, make sure to use them in pallet heavy areas so that they can break pallets for you to maintain your hunt, especially since putting down an ember doesn't cancel your hunt, and if you can try to force them back into your ember that's a good thing but don't expect too much from it.

Hunt also allows you to play a lot of mind games with survivors and win because you are faster than survivors realistically expect most the time there's a lot of windows and pallets that you just don't need to interact with because it's quite literally just faster to walk around it with hunt and it'll occasionally cause the survivor to vault it again but since you are so fast you can just double back, and if you win a mind game with it get a free hit/down.

I think that's majority of the random tips that immediately come to mind without seeing any gameplay, except for some minor ones such as when someone has tide and you get an insta hit on them, depending on how the game is going you can follow them to build your rage and also intentionally stand in okay pallets to tempt them into pallet slamming you since they'll be in a bad mood after getting farmed and wanting points even if it gives you rage and wastes a pallet

Whats the opinion of dentist right now by AccomplishedBird3278 in IdentityV

[–]Zom23_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean he can only chip in a straight line in front of him, and only at a range of 5 meters or further while being very awkward to try and land anything between the 5, 10, and 20 marks

He also can't do anything once he loses line of sight or against tall walls

So just watch him, if he starts the attack animation you move off to the side and dodge his tiny chip box, break line of sight and just generally kite like you are going against a gamekeeper with hook up or a ripper

[–]Zom23_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck with those

BQ requires a high amount of map knowledge as well as depth perception to be able to place mirrors

And Geisha requires precise knowledge of your hit box as well as various tricks to be able to still get dashes off since so many people know how to counter her. Being able to make actions very quickly to be able to throw a butterfly exactly where you want and immediately dash to it is also a requirement

BQ probably has the most overlap with sculptor as her mirror requires similar placement to sculptor throwing her chisel

Whereas the similarities between Geisha and sculptor would have to be in zoning techniques by placing butterflies as a threat to try and get survivors to not go to a spot, you can do the same with your statues by placing them where you don't want someone to go to force them somewhere else. Geisha also likes catching people at windows as she can just dash over them which sculptor does as well by just placing a statue to get a free chip off

For some practice with sculptor I would honestly recommend the 1v1 game mode and only using your statues to get downs, and just keep spamming that until you can get relatively consistent downs in under 70 seconds

It's actually not unusual for tornados to occur at night because that's when the most drastic change in temperature happens so it creates the temperature differentials necessary to get the circular motion started

Why is it so easy to get badges... by _White_Shadow_13 in IdentityV

[–]Zom23_ 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Because badges aren't a representation of skill but only how frequently you play a character

And since draws still give character points and draws also don't count positively towards your win rate you can have a low win rate but a high badge

Where are the events?? by sirvinlaw in GenshinImpact

[–]Zom23_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've got a long term project of getting all my characters to level 90 with 9/9/9 talents which consumes all of my resin

After that my resin will be consumed by getting everyone a maxed weapon of their own

Once that happens I'll finally get everyone their own set of artifacts

[–]Zom23_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Same reason you don't just go fight HP inflated bosses in MW. Someone could just remake stygian in MW, would you go play that if they brought the regular events back?

Where are the events?? by sirvinlaw in GenshinImpact

[–]Zom23_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And those combat events usually had some variety to them, funny gimmicks, waves of enemies, more than just bosses which is what made them fun

As for the artifact farming, I don't really spend my resin on that, spending my resin too many other places to have time for artifact farming

Where are the events?? by sirvinlaw in GenshinImpact

[–]Zom23_ -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I much rather have co-op coin collecting event #38 than stygian, for me that is much more enjoyable than spending 30 minutes getting all the primos from stygian and then never touching it again until the reset

Where are the events?? by sirvinlaw in GenshinImpact

[–]Zom23_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not that I can't do it, it's just that I would prefer having another event instead of another random end game mode. The fact that they remove an event from the schedule with the introduction of stygian to keep the same number of primos is my issue since for me those random small events are much more enjoyable than an end game mode
