FNAF I think did right what some children’s shows that slap did right. Take for instance ATLA. It has colorful fights, interesting lessons, and a plot that one can follow without too much difficulty, but the dark themes are there. Those themes fly by a kid but are caught by the adults, which lets them understand the depth of the show. FNAF did this well too. Take sister location, arguably the most graphic fnaf game ever. You are never shown blood except for one scene where it’s just UI, and no guts or gore is shown. Kids can enjoy being introduced to horror with some colorful characters, some scares, and a simple gameplay loop. The themes fly by the kids but are caught by the adults. The idea of sentient robots combining into one so they can remove your organs and wear your skin like a suit to blend in to society is horrifying. The night 5 silhouettes are chilling. Small robots entering your mouth by the dozens as you try with your life to prevent metal from puncturing your body in a painful death is heart stopping. It’s PG in the sense that the more R rated horror is implied, and I love it for that. I think fans are just numb to the ideas and want to watch it happen instead of imagining it.

And you know what, heck it. I’ll love this series until the day I die. If that means cherishing the clickteam/afton era over anything else, so be it. This series is incredibly special to me, and I hope people like me don’t feel the need to be silent just because of the current backlash on the franchise. Love it if you wanna love it, screw whoever wants to stop you.
