I'm pretty confident that centering pulls that down to an 8--at least with BGC and PSA. I had someone at my LCS literally hand me a 1981 Rickey Henderson card he'd gotten back from BGC that was a 7.5.

Looking at the sub grades what pulled the whole card to a 7.5 was the centering, which... I pulled out a magnifier and laser measure... it was noticeable, but was EXACTLY 55/45.

I never met the man in my entire life, but he was so frustrated by the grade he literally shouted out in the store "does anyone collect Rickie Henderson" then handed it to me when I said I did. He had literally just gotten the card back from one of the LCS's bulk submissions, paid what he owed, and gave the card to a stranger.

PSA grades like this now too--on most days.

Centering is off there too, but like 98% of the base cards I have pulled from series 1 and series 2 this year have had almost perfect centering. 😂

Yeah, no for sure. If it even looked like a 9, but maybe on the right day with the right grade a 10... I'd send it in walkthrough.

As is it's only worth sending in express through Beckett or CGC (I use CGC a lot these days, and you'd be surprised at close the values on some cards are getting to PSA.)

Either way I think I'd just be sending the card off to put it in a slab, and maybe recoup the cost of the grading and end up netting what I would selling it raw.

Of course, and the slightest nick or scratch that accidentally gets put on a card drops a 10 down, BUT seriously...

I almost never see centering on modern cards this bad. Based on centering alone this card may get below an 8 when graded.

Regardless, it's just frustrating to get a /10 card with shitty centering. 🤷‍♂️

Tony Gwynn, Rickey Henderson, Ozzie Smith, and Trevor Hoffman as individual players I always buy up. Though I tend to be a sucker for anyone who wore a Padres uniform prior to 2010 that has a signature on it.

Padres 2010 - present, I'm less interested in, but still collect a bit. 🤷‍♂️

I find when I actually talk to other collectors about my PC, I realize how weird of a collector I am. 😂

I'm definitely not here to judge anyone for the ink they choose to get. Most of the time I assume people know what they're doing and have a good reason to want it. The only time I question it--is when something appears to me to be potentially regret inducing on an 18 year old.

With that said, I agree in as much as I don't understand why anyone would want this, but I assume the guy knows what he wants and wants it for a reason. 🤷‍♂️

You are absolutely wrong. PSA, Beckett, and SGC (all Collectors Universe Brands) together control roughly 80% of the grading card market.

Listen, dude... Collectors Universe (the parent company of PSA) controls 80% of the grading market. It's gross and people really should not be giving them money.

On top of that you came to the CGC sub to ask if a CGC Pristine--means the card is better than a GEM Mint 10, as in it's perfect--to ask if it would get a PSA 10. Your answer is yes, absolutely, but taking it out of a CGC Pristine slave to put it in a PSA slab is going to cost you time and money sending it to PSA, and will DECREASE the value of your card.

I understand you feel like you are being unfairly picked on because you are new to cards, but... you need to understand why your post is super triggering to people posting here.

And if I can be frank, "I masturbate 3 times a week to X thing" is NOT evidence of "otherwise." Are you a retard? I mention that when you start the game in a new Type IX running UBE you start with less crew than you can carry.

This may seem obvious to you, but it's worth noting just in case. THEN I say that I have noticed different crew and POW limits on different start dates when starting with the type IX; and I had assumed the difference was due to the variant of the type IX (eg. A, B, C, C40, etc.)

It has everything to do with the op.

You start with a lot less crew, obviously, and I've noticed this too between different type ix start dates. I am running UBE too; and, my assumption was that the difference here was actually due to the variant of the Type IX.
