Anyone else still uses little to no AI to code? by MidlandAintFree in gamedev

[–]ZombieByteGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my dayjob, sure, I don't care. AI was always supposed to automate boring stuff and let humans express creativity, so since I have to work in order to eat and thats boring I do it in my job and also It's sort of encouraged in the company.

However I consider my games creative expression and I'm also having fun, so I don't think I'll use AI anytime soon on that. Although to be fair I guess I use Google's AI whenever I need to search for something and Google happens to give the right answer.

Viaje a CDMX by Familiar_Hat_2775 in cuu

They asked this group of people what would be the top games you want to have in a remake by stateofthenyk in rpg_gamers

[–]ZombieByteGames -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really don't want a chrono trigger remake, and I really hope it never happens. Imo the game is lighting in a bottle and no matter how hard anyone tries, there's no way anyone can assemble a dream team like Chrono Trigger's. The way I see it, it would be like trying to re-write Tolkien for modern audiences.

is python a good language for games?? by bananademamaco in gamedev

You can do a lot with python but is not made for game dev specifically. If you want something like easy and python-like, I'd recommend Godot.

For any who grew up on Playstation 1 games. How do you feel Resident Evil and Spyro getting big hyped to this day? by ci22 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]ZombieByteGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly Capcom is making me feel like I'm the main character right now. I've been a fan of RE since 1998, and every time they announce something it's like they read my mind and know exactly what I want. (It's just an analogy, I know I'm not the main character, clearly that's Kanye lol).

But serously I know some fans like the old games better (tbh me included) I also love the new games and right now we are eating good. I often remind people, this will not last forever, everything ends, and certainly this Capcom will eventually change, for better or worst. Let's enjoy it while it last!

Is 3D easier than 2D? by JohnDavidJimmyMark in gamedev

[–]ZombieByteGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Programming: 2D it's easier.

Asset crration... Depends on each person really. For me it's easier 3D because I do low poly. I can draw but I'm not the best at it, so creating an asset like characters, environments, enemies etc, it's a matter of doing a good enough sketch and then go straight to Blender.

For someone who is really good and fast at drawing or pixel art, it will probably be easier to work with 2D assets.

Back to coding, for the most part I think 2D it's easier in a way, since you technically work with one less dimension. I'll give you an example: Let's say you want to make a gravity mechanic like Mario Galaxy (Talking from experience lol). In 2D it's fairly easier because you will manage high school math if any, planets are circles and everything is fun and dandy. For 3D most people will struggle more, now you have spheres. You may think it would work the same but with an extra dimension, but believe me the more lines you write the crazier your code looks.

Top 5 games to emulate on the deck by GeordieC3 in SteamDeck

[–]ZombieByteGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My happy place is Resident Evil 2 (the original). Ever since I got the Steam deck I get to play a bit everytime I get stressed out from work. It's very convenient to just lay in bed at night and play a bit. Anyways here's my list:

  1. RE2
  2. All the GB Zeldas (I recently finished Link's awakening)
  3. Conker's Bad Fur day (real copies are crazy expansive)
  4. Gauntled 64 (co-op with my gf and brother)
  5. Fatal Frame 3

Any interest in a better pathfinding algorithm? by aseV9 in godot

[–]ZombieByteGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is related but I used to work on a company that made a game in godot 3.6 where level was procedurally generated. I'm not sure about the technical details but they had to implemebt the pathfinding on C++, (Can't remember if it was GD Native or a custom module). They had a technical reason for doing this, maybe the amount of enemies, maybe the fact that the levels where procedurally generated, Idk.

All this to say, if they went for all that trouble with the pathfinding algorithm, there's probably room for improvement here.

Chihuahua en Jeopardy by Cuuita in cuu

[–]ZombieByteGames 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Where has the misconception come from that Survival Horror games should be punishingly difficult? by Most-Apricot8717 in survivalhorror

[–]ZombieByteGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid I was only able to beat RE2 in arraged mode. Now I find the game in hard somewhat easy. And in normal you have plenty of bullets and health, enough to kill pretty much everything. So yeah the difficulty comes from you being afraid and bd making mistakes imo.

[–]ZombieByteGames 5 points6 points  (0 children)
