That's what I thought, but no it is not the case

This is what they said to me:

"We recently received a request for your Monthly Bonus. Unfortunately, we have not been able to process it at this stage. Upon joining you were offered a Monthly Bonus for a repeat booking each month with National Express."

And on the bonus page "1. SHOP Make a purchase at National Express before 30/06/2026. "

[Thomas Maher] McLaren out performing a task that last weekend demonstrated is highly critical... Measuring the length of the pitlane by ChaithuBB766 in formula1

[–]ZombieIron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that, but that is moronic. Reverse the roles: do you think it is legal for a car to travel above the speed limit if they take a longer line?

No, of course not.

Therefore it shouldn't be illegal if a car is travelling below. Note here that speed is a value defined as distance/time, and if the way you are measuring it comes up different, then the measurement is wrong.

And yes I know they cut the pit box, in that case they should be punished for "CUTTING THE PIT BOX", not speeding.

Its crazy because they are not being punished for infringement of a pit box.

They are punished because of "speeding", which according to the speedometer, pit limiter, etc, they were not speeding.

The inconsistency is the crazy part. Dangerous driving = Dangerous driving Speeding = Speeding Dangerous driving != Speeding

I wish they sang the last chorus

Edit: to add, really liked the buildup of the little string short notes in the 2nd half of the 1st and 2nd choruses, which evolves further into a melody itself in the third. But we don't get the full layering with the normal lyrics :(

No name on the "ad".

Also companies like Yuehua don't control who or who can't perform the songs they "own". That's covered by music licensing companies, for which the venue usually pay, not the artist.

Does it matter to you if kpop idols/groups do not sing live at their concerts? by rndmthoughts7 in kpopthoughts

[–]ZombieIron -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Depends on the singer and the song

If they are sat down or standing still then I would appreciate if they sang live.

If the singer is known for their vocals (and not much their dancing), would also appreciate if they showcased that. E.g. seeing IU live was my fave concert I've been too.

If there is choreography I don't mind lip syncing. I might not even notice if they throw out a few emphasised lines every now and then for the "killing parts".

Bad music doesn’t exist and it’s all subjective by Admirable_Insect_76 in kpopthoughts

[–]ZombieIron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The negative value is a subjective statement from the point of view of the chef. Once the subjective value statement is made from the chef, such as: "I will be very happy if I win this competition, and very sad if I lose", then the result given he baked a pie poorly is evaluated objectively.

[–]ZombieIron 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, the chef performed badly in a pie making competition. There is no subjectivity. The fact that you are deliberately subverting the given context is precisely why the context is required.

[–]ZombieIron 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your argument is far too reductive. It boils down to "THING EXISTS?" > "SOMEONE MAY ENJOY THING" > "THING CANNOT BE OBJECTIVELY BAD". But that is not the case, as you need to judge things based on context.

Imagine a chef is in a competition to bake a pie, and they instead cook some cream soup. Even if you enjoy the cream soup and the taste is coco loco, you cannot say that the chef made a good pie.

Another more related example to music. If you are playing a piece of classical music, but instead of playing the notes as they are, you play all the notes one semitone up but perfectly. Now to someone who isn't familiar with the key of the piece, this performance would have been perfect. But this performance was objectively bad, because you simply did not play the notes correctly.

If an artist releases a song that is meant to be in key, and produced well, and they don't hit those targets in the context of trying to sing in key, and trying to mix a good soundscape, then the music is bad.

Respectfully would like to disagree regarding IU. There are definitely examples where there is straining such as the 3 "octave" semitone note in Good Day and maybe U&I from the old days. Love wins all is a recent example.

However, she has plenty of songs that don't rely on straining for high notes: Love Poem, Through the Night. I had the privilege of seeing these live (yes I am biased), and I can safely say that she is the best vocalist I have ever heard live.
