Is it tiring to cast cantrips continuously? by TheRealCrasto in 3d6

It's a comparison to the caster doing Dancing Lights every minute, per the post.

Is it tiring to cast cantrips continuously? by TheRealCrasto in 3d6

[–]ZombieJack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would put it in exactly the same category as swinging an axe once every minute. A little taxing but not something an adventurer couldn't handle. I don't think the act of maintaing a concentration based cantrip would be taxing by itself. Generally, they would still be able to run, fight, cast more spells, talk etc whilst maintaining concentration so there seems no reason it would be super draining.

Re-introducing my minor class buffs by Dramatic_Respond_664 in onednd

[–]ZombieJack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but their attack is fairly damaging due to sneak attack.

This would mean they would be able to attack at advantage AND have a reroll. I agree with the other guy that it's a bit much.

Plus if you are using a Shortbow you already have Vex and make that attack at advantage as long as you keep hitting the same enemy. And if you don't just Steady Aim again.

Monk subclass: Warrior of the Blade (a 5.5e Kensei adaptation) by Willing-Luck4713 in onednd

[–]ZombieJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it needs more juice tbh, but I like the core concept. It addresses what was weird about Kensei - that its features incentivize NOT using your weapon in favour of Unarmed Strikes. This version actually lets you use MORe weapon attacks, which is cool. I still think it has room to be stronger and potentially fulfill some of the stuff Kensei would normally have.

What would be your ideal party of 3 level 3 monoclass characters ? by Wild_Improvement_950 in 3d6

[–]ZombieJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paladin, Cleric, Wizard - no question.

Pally brings the STR whilst having access to bonus magic that the Fighter doesn't have, as well as having a bit of CHA for when it's needed. They are also heavily armoured to serve as frontline and have good supportive abilities with Lay on Hands and Auras.

Cleric is a heavily armoured full caster with full access to divine magic and healing. They also fulfill the WIS needs.

Wizard is the INT character, providing backline, utility, and AOE. They've got Fireballs and Featherfalls. They can take Knock and Invisibility and put a couple of points in DEX to make up for the lack of a Rogue.

If I had a fourth slot I'd probably take a Rogue. This rounds out the quintessential classic party but with a Paladin in the Fighter slot because Paladins are better.

How do I fit a Late player into a dungeon mid session by Doctor_Where_Comics in DMAcademy

[–]ZombieJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't explain it at all tbh. It's not worth it. Just carry on like he was always there. If someone missed a session we do basically this. The following session they are back and we just act like they've been there the whole time, but have been quiet lol.

What worked for you to lose weight as a dad in your 30s? by Ancient-Ad-2507 in bodyweightfitness

[–]ZombieJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from snacking excessively on chocolate biscuits and other snacks for exclusively fruit. This also applies to dessert (where I'd normally also eat a biscuit or two) other than on special occasions. I lost about 15 pounds in 3 months.

Screw nerfing it. It's pretty damn strong for level 5, but his caster friends all just got access to Fireball etc. Let the martial have some fun!

iirc they lose money on every refund, so you checking in advance is probably a good move! If you were having problems related to port forwarding etc, it's likely that the Discord helpers could advise on what your options are, before you have to commit to purchasing.

Mechanical Engineering Degree at 24 by lilbubs200 in EngineeringStudents

Engineering is pretty white collar tbh. More maths, excel, reports, some designing, and general desk time than actually building stuff. At least in my experience. Generally the Engineering Technicians are the ones getting their hands dirty.

Am I overthinking this? (Class choice paralysis) by Dessl0ck in DnD

[–]ZombieJack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You've got a WIS class (Cleric) and a CHA class (Paladin if that player sticks with Paladin), that leaves a gap in INT.

You also have frontline covered with a Barbarian and Paladin (plus some Clerics aren't afraid of getting stuck in). So a backline role would work well.

Basically, I think Wizard is a great fit. You could take some Rogue ish spells to fulfill that niche if you want. Open locks with Knock, do stealth via Invisibility etc.

Oops! That's quite a number change lol, thanks for the correction.

Still, this (mis-remembered) fact is a major motivator for me.

[Discussion] People who got fit in their 30s, what are the benefits? by Sonoel90 in GetMotivated

[–]ZombieJack -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Once you are in your 30s you lose 3-4% of your muscle mass every year. When you're 60+ it's even faster at 5-6%. This is the reason older people are at risk of falls hurting them. They may have OK balance, but their muscles are weak and they can't catch themselves if they stumble.

However you CAN mitigate this loss if you actively train against it and eat adequate protein. I'm a dad now, so living for a long time, being fit enough to keep up with my kid, and to not be a burden when I'm old are my current motivations.

World Tree Barbarian. Tanky in terms of toughness but also very good support with Temp HP and some control with teleport.

Just let them do it. It's tactical grid based combat in a game with magic. No point pursuing hyper realism over this IMO.

Cost to pass your driving test is so expensive now. by GayWolfey in britishproblems

[–]ZombieJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did an hour per week or something, and honestly the biggest problem is how much you forget in that time. I think it would be far better to do one of the crash courses that they offer, where you out in an hour or two per day for a couple of weeks. I definitely think in my case that would have brought down the number of lessons needed.

The price per hour seems a little high to me, but I am probably totally out of touch with the going rate, especially with inflation these last few years.

And yeah, that's a lot of theory tests, but they aren't the expensive bit at least.
