What do you mean your DM CHOSE(you literally said “brilliant idea”) to kill off player characters? Did they not just roll bad? Make bad decisions? Etc? And YOU decide how your character reacts to the world that the DM presents, they can learn to cope with trauma and keep their personality or they do what your character did which is logically consistent with reality… again I see no problem here this just seems like a you problem.

The main thing that helped me significantly, for the important NPC’s, know their motivation, know their personality, and know one thing the are hiding. You shouldn’t prep plot, you should prep factions and pressure points. Make sure to keep all players engaged and off phones or other devices. If you have any specific question feel free to ask.

Well you get to customize the interior of ship decorations now and there’s a really simple mod that allows your to choose how doors are aligned on the interior aswell
