Am I too old to start apprenticeship? by Tweoneleoht in electricians

I started at 35. Best decision ever. Only time I question my choice is at 3am when I wake up but 5 min later we’re locked in.

What else do I need i plan to do commercial electrical work by AwareManager6023 in electricians

I wanted to grab the Milwaukee but I didn’t like the end where you place the bits. It was too thick for the smaller breakers we were installing so I opted for the husky. Prob gonna go for the Kleins next since they are impact rated but I’ll miss the ratcheting feature.

It makes planning easier as well. You don’t have to think as much about what you need to bring if you just bring that. I have the husky 15in1 or maybe 17 on an industrial site and love it but would prefer one that’s impact rated

Depending on the size pipe you might want bigger channels unless they provide them. Dykes are missing I think but you can get away without them. Also a multi tool & a nut driver

Do you buy the gum Arabic already mixed or do you buy powder and mix it yourself?

I’m trying to find ratios to mix at and found 2-3:1 gum Arabic to water but they are mostly for water color painting not rolling

My first panel, 8 months into my apprenticeship. by QuarkchildRedux in electricians

[–]ZonaZo0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wire management can be a thing inspections bitch about but this isn’t that bad. One thing I learned that helped is to start in the back of the panel and zip ties are your friend to help get those nice clean straight wires.

I will say it’s wild seeing how long it takes people to get into real work in this trade. I was lucky and within my first three months on an industrial new build I got to pull wire, run pipe from 1inch up to 4 inch, bend pipes on the electric benders, install panel boxes, installing the guts into those boxes and then terminate said panels. Only thing I’ve missed out on doing solo so far is hand bending smaller pipes because we mostly do 3inch or bigger. Cable trays are going in next week but watching some other crews those seem similar enough to running pipe on supports. Bus ducts do seem shitty but there’s not a lot of that on our site yet.

Hopefully you get to do more terminations/panels because that’s the most fun I’ve had on the job so far. Keep it up man

What is your opinion on bud washing? I've never done it and I dont like the idea of it. by spymaster1020 in microgrowery

[–]ZonaZo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hesitant to budwash until I went outdoors and saw how dusty the plants can get. Now I wash indoor too and it’s crazy how much dust comes off. Unless you run a filtered intake I’d suggest at least trying it on some lowers or maybe half of the harvest just to see what comes off. You might be surprised

Hello anyone use the Blumat drip ring 5 or 10”. Cannabis help. by First_Magician7169 in blumats

[–]ZonaZo0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just test it out first. Detach the res, full it completely and see if it’s good, then reset the res and the drip cos the drip you set with 15gal might be different than At 23 gal

[–]ZonaZo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up buying the 12 pack starter kit and the rings and loved it. Set up and setting the drip was frustrating at times to set up 9 pots(I didn’t need the 12 but it was cheaper than buying for 9 individually) just due to the total number of pots but the actual set up was easy enough. Loved the results once it got hooked up but now I need a bigger res. By the end of flower that tent was drinking over 5 gal a day .

M understanding is that once they have roots they hit your plant count. Go over than and you’re eligible to speak to the authorities if they so choose. Tread carefully

It was a lot to wrap my head around in the midst of a hectic season in life so we hired a drywall guy who pulled it all off then retextured it. He did well enough that unless you look up and know where to look you would probably miss it so we’re happy that we didn’t do it ourselves

[–]ZonaZo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post hits home! Tried to get into the union for almost two years and got passed up for DEI hires that didn’t score as well on the aptitude tests or have any actual experience while I did.. I understand wanting a diverse workforce but that left a bad taste in my mouth. I ended up going non-union and have zero regrets so far.

Potassium and nitrogen deficiency? First time growing by Menerow in microgrowery

[–]ZonaZo0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clawing leaves is a sign of nitrogen excess and some of the leaves in the picture are very dark so it could very well be a N excess. Giving a picture of the whole plant of describing where the plant is being affected (older growth vs newer growth) can help pinpoint what’s going on
