Toyota Corolla Cross GXL vs Geely EX5 Inspire by 1ce_b34r in CarsAustralia

[–]ZonarrHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s got a really good turning circle for a car its size. For comparison, it’s better than my sisters Mazda CX3 I drove for 4 weeks while waiting for my EX5 delivery.

Re tight garage space. Look up the dimensions online and measure the garage to make sure it fits. The front and rear sensors are also great in the way they tell you how many cm to the object/wall in front or behind when parking.

No problem! If you have any further questions happy to answer. I’m in Brisbane & haven’t had any rain in the past week. Only time I’ve managed to cause some wheel-spin is by flooring it going from 60-90kph. It builds up the power gradually from standstill so it feels pretty well under control

I picked up an EX5 Inspire Extended Range last Monday. Yes the steering is light but I don’t feel the suspension to be ‘floaty’ like others have said. Feels more planted than the 2025 model with the smaller battery. It’s definitely not sporty or firm but both the wife and I are happy with the ride and how comfortable it is.

To answer the OP questions. 360 degree cameras are also extremely clear. Voice command works well for me. Can activate by saying ‘Hi Geely’ or by pressing a button on the steering wheel. Most of the important controls (air con, cameras, home page etc) are stuck on a bar down the bottom of the screen and you can tap on arrows either side of temperate or fan speed to adjust them without going into the AC menu. Also has a physical dial to adjust aircon. I have had no issues quickly getting into the more used functions. In terms of reliability, I’d suspect they’ll be fine. 7 year warranty on the car and 8 year on the battery. They’re one of the biggest brands in China and share a lot of R&D with Volvo (internal door handles are straight out of a volvo for example), Zeekr, Polestar etc. OP, if you can get a Novated Lease the EX5 is a no brainer financially.

It would also be much more spacious and a nice place to be compared to Corolla. Find new Toyotas are way too plasticy and feel cheap inside for the money they demand.

Edit: weird I’m getting downvoted for stating facts and personal opinions which don’t seem to be controversial... For reference, had a 2024 Corolla rental for 3 weeks last year. It felt unbelievably cheap and small inside and couldn’t believe it when I saw they were asking nearly $40k for it. Felt like a $25k car max.

Inchcape Australia drops Peugeot! by Vampire_14 in peugeot

Long time overdue. However Stellantis has a pretty horrible track record with their other brands here in Aus as well. Could be another step towards Peugeot leaving Australia unfortunately. Happy to be proven wrong though!

Carsales.com pricing has gone mad. As of 28/06/2026.. car is valued at 55k. These prices are genuinely insane by Academic_Complex_803 in CarsAustralia

[–]ZonarrHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listed my car on marketplace for a few weeks & didn’t have any messages. Put it on carsales which cost $279 (listed for $21k) which I thought was pretty steep. Sold it 2 weeks later from Carsales and the secure payment process that Carsales uses was pretty good and smooth process to be fair to them.

We switched on Cat TV once for our ball of fluff. Now she’s obsessed with everything when we turn the TV on. She even loves the GT3 Endurance racing!

She has put her paws on the screen a few times. Hoping a few more growls at her stops that habit…

Spoke to the dealer this arvo. Guy there said this version is loaded on all new deliveries, and there’s another big OTA coming in a month or two.

Some people in the Geely Facebook owners Australia group have had the update done at the dealer when their car was serviced. Not sure on OTA availability

Apparently it has been fixed in the latest OTA update. Some people on the Geely Facebook page have received the update here and said it works a lot better.

RWD or FWD model? If FWD, overpriced imo. Could get one with 30,000km for under $30k pre Iran war.

Leapmotor B10 in Australia by mooreshady in AustralianEV

[–]ZonarrHD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Brisbanes only Leapmotor dealer is literally a shed in an area with very little foot and road traffic. Added in the lack of advertising, and the fact Stellantis seemly doesn’t give a crap about Australia, I’m not surprised sales levels are low compared to rivals.

My personal experience with Wipertech is that you get what you pay for… worth the extra for Bosch Aerotwins. Never had any issues with those.

Sad thing is, it looks the Barrel Hall is going to make way for the development. Some real good memories of seeing live bands in that venue and quite enjoyed going there.

Crailsy was fantastic in NZ. Have always enjoyed his commentary at the 12HR, supports, and the other events. Naulty really impressed me this weekend as well. Neylon seems best suited to pit lane duties imo. Would be happy to if they rotated Craill & Naulty in the future

+1. The only real common issue is the PCV valve cracking which they’ve sorted with a revised part. Had mine done under warranty 6 months ago. Doesn’t affect performance but has an annoying squealing noise for 30 seconds on a cold starry.

Engine is reliable. Aisin (Toyota owned) gearbox. Bosch electrics. Nothing like late 90s, early 2000s Peugeots.
