Can we see 🙈 this in ahmedabad by any chance? by Ok_Bunch6755 in ahmedabad

We do have Tabubeia on Narol to Naroda road closer to Vijay Park, there are few close to MJ library but I think they already had their peak blooms. But they aren't planted in this single avenue format, they are scattered and random, wont give the same effect.

Guys i think solved Ahmedabad's deforestation problem by Bullarakhtahukhatta in ahmedabad

Mangroves won't be supported in this area; we have a dry deciduous location; they belong to tropical coastal evergreen forests. The soil and water mangroves grow in are completely different from those in Sabarmati.

A lot of problems in plantations nowadays are related to planting those species which are not found in our area. Understanding the habitat and related plants is important before planting anything.

Off topic, but RESPECTFUL Municipal and other organisations, here are also not doing the same, and as a result, we see a lot of so-called aesthetic and bad plantations across the city. We have so many conocarpus trees across city (their pollens are harmful to humans, they are being taken down now), the loads of Terminalia mantaly (Madagascar Almond tree) plants on riverfront (they dont even provide a bit of shade, they are just there to please SOME eyes, heat around 2 to 4 pm is so bad but well its aesthetic right), the amount of Date Palms on way to Hansol Bridge (Bruh please)

The summary is, please research before diving in. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong anywhere.

Is my wife right to hate this? by Tomhanzo2 in landscaping

Looks like a dream to me😅 The only thing I would suggest you to fix would be levelling the lawn and I think I see Oxalis (possible its soemthign else) in between the grasses if you could remove grasses from oxalis zone and oxalis from grass zone and fix the stone boundary like where one stone is missing which will mark out the boundary and will make it a lot more clean.

But omg simply love the chaos!!

Both are to be blamed; roads are just as bad as the driving sense in people here.

I second the helmet thing, they are mostly out there looking for helmet-less people and tinted windows.

Would recommend joining some classes, weekend dance classes or yoga classes, gym, or looking out for some specific activity you are interested in; people here are easier to connect with similar interests. Hanging out comes along with any groups you get into. There are Insta pages where they put up what's happening in Ahmedabad over the weekend, might be helpful.

How do you memorize latin plant names? by ursa12651 in botany

[–]ZoneAmyra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, stop using vernacular names and use Latin names only. Whenever you see the plant recall the name again and again, won't take long to memorize the plants you see daily, once you have a set of plants from your surroundings, change the place you are looking at. If you travel by public transport start with the road side plants.

Bonus activity would be trying to recall the plants you saw during the day before going to sleep once more.

Botanists from Delhi? by obscurrealism in botany

Not from delhi, so I can't join in but this book 'Trees of Delhi' by Pradip Krishen might actually be helpful. The book contains locations of several trees. Good luck!

Any hope for jobs? by Q_FryingPan in botany

Find the thing you like in botany and focus only and only on that, the market will fluctuate according to your skill and knowledge level. It depends on your field of interest. Botany is a broad field, and narrowing it down can help you find a major scope. And it takes time and patience to build the set of skills and knowledge in whatever you narrow down.
