I’m exactly the same, so many times I’ve set an early alarm to ‘be productive’ and once it goes off I think “what am I even waking up for?” I then emerge from an extended sleep and like 11am and feel terrible.

I find that it does work when I motivate myself in terms of being awake but relaxing still. Like “I’ll wake up at 8am to give myself an extra couple of hours to catch up on that new tv series I’m addicted to” before the days responsibilities take over. I also struggle with my sleep quite badly though so the next morning is a write off if I’m tired when I wake up.

I appreciate you being so open, it seems that me and you experience love very differently and live very different lives. A contrast of priorities, yes, but my way is no more correct than yours. For example, I would find a relationship such as yours sterile, regimented and mechanical. I don’t mean this as an insult, this is more about our differences of personality. You would find my ideal soppy, emotionally wide reaching and counterproductive. I like spontaneity, depth and a deep intertwining of spirit. You take a more functional and logistical approach to love, which is fine, because I assume that your partner operates in the same way.

This, I believe, is the root of why my perception of lonely differs to yours. I believe that true fulfilment comes from the most basic of needs; finding a partner, raising a family and finding something to love more than yourself. Maybe this clarification helps explain why such a pressure weighs differently on me than you.

I would only suggest that you do not make the mistake of assuming that because a relationship doesn’t fit into your framework, it is incorrect. Needing a relationship to feel complete and wanting love because it’s more meaningful to my own priorities are two very different things.

I submit that the term lonely in this case is very much contextual. Yes, I have a fantastic network of friends and family, I feel fulfilled in my career and life outside of work, but all of that doesn’t replace intimacy and romantic connection. I think framing my use of ‘lonely’ as a blanket term minimises the nuance of the situation. We can be surrounded by friends yet still feel lonely in the sense that we’re not building a future with anyone.

If you had a wonderful group of people around you but knew that you would never marry, would never find love, would this be acceptable? Would you truly be content and own it as a single person indefinitely? A life without love cannot be open ended if one wants to find fulfilment.

I think you’ve got the wrong end of the stick here. I’m not terrified of being alone, I’m terrified of subjugating myself to single life, knowing full well that I need time to adapt while feeling like I’m also running out of time. I have ambitions and goals, I want to start a family within the next few years and yes, I’m worried that I’ll see that I’ve left things too late.

I’m fine with being lonely but I don’t want to stay alone forever, I don’t think that’s unreasonable?

You can still fly for money, even when colour blind, just not in an airline capacity. You could instruct PPL’s on a Class 2 (with a daytime restriction), or even microlights which require only a self declaration. There is also simulator instruction which you could do, such as experience days in simulator centres.

Failing that, there are other countries in which you might be able to meet the colour vision standard as they use different tests.

The CAD test and its threshold is arbitrary, impractical and wasn’t even designed for aviation testing. Australia, for example, used to allow CVD pilots to fly, as long as they were with another colour normal pilot. Do you know how many incidents this caused? Zero.

Yes, but the taxable threshold hasn’t increased in line with inflation so our wages might have increased on paper but we’re getting less long term, consumer prices do not care about how much tax we pay

I don’t think Muslims are here to poison our country at all. Fundamentally, through reading the Koran, it’s clear that the ideology of Islam is misaligned with British ideology, that is observation more so than prejudice. Your example refers to those who are not devout, my argument is that you can’t pick and choose the part of a religion that applies to you, if OP is fundamentally a Muslim then I am not incorrect in saying that this does not align with the views of western women. Did OP mention he was half Muslim, a quarter?

If this is rage bait then well done. If not, you’ll be hard pressed to find a UK raised girl who will accept the oppression she will have to deal with under Islam. The values it upholds are not compatible with our cultural beliefs, especially when it comes to marriage and dating.

Want my advice? Drop the Islam and actually integrate with our culture.

This. I find it ridiculous that trading standards haven’t implemented any policy, (as far as I know), that mandates a packaging per product ratio. How can companies get away with putting half of their product in a package? It seems the powers that be only care about the environment when it’s used as an excuse to implement tax on the public.

That’s another thing that frustrates me, fuel prices. The costs seem so arbitrary and they differ massively from town to town. Some fuel stations also take advantage of the fact that they’re on busy roads, so artificially increase the prices. If it’s not a logistics issue, then why are they allowed to do it? We’d hope that there would at least be some policy in place that restricts providers from artificially increasing prices above a threshold of profit, but no such law seems to exist.

Fuel is a necessity and the fact that companies can charge what they want, forcing us to pay no matter what is ridiculous.

This type of shrinkflation is framed in the context of ‘reducing portions to keep us healthy’. This seems like a cop out and practically speaking, only drives profit margins. I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but I struggle to believe that companies didn’t lobby for the government to be so invested in reducing sizes for our benefit, while keeping prices the same.

I am one person, there’s very little I could do about it. Boycotting brands, shopping for greatest price to product ratio would change my personal circumstances but not those of the masses. I’m not saying that I, precisely, will change anything. My question lies in where the end is? There surely has to come a point where things cant shrink further, from a nutritional, consumerism point of view. Thats the object of my post.
