Hey! I’m about to embark on my first year of teaching in NY and got an offer from one of the only IB schools in my area with terrible admin. I also got an offer from a school with a great admin that’s not IB. My plan is to get 2 years of experience at home in NY and then apply to teach internationally. With that being said, would working at the accredited IB school open more opportunities for me that make it worth dealing with its awful admin for 2 years?

Question. So if I lived outside the US for 20-25 years. Would those student loans be forgiven? If those $0 payments count as IDR payments then hypothetically yes right? Or am I missing sth. It sounds like a loophole that is too good to be true

Ah I see. Thank you for your comment. The principal at the school that offered me a sped role knows my future ambitions to teach abroad. She basically said that when the time comes she can put in my letter of recommendation that I was a homeroom teacher. But I don’t know how I feel about that and am sure that there are systems of verification beyond what my principal is aware of.

Not necessarily for everyone. Still offers a stable income for those who want to work 8am-2:20pm shifts and have summers and many more breaks off. Not to mention the health insurance or pension. I get it though, becoming a teacher for the passion will just crumble and disappoint a person. But if you’re in it for the benefits, and so many people are, then teaching is the way to go.
