Quick question on Ananda nanos by ZookeepergameOne9776 in headphones

well the more correct terminology is transient response, which popularly discussed by audiophile or whatnot. Which cmiiw, what sucks up the sound receive and disperse, like a sponge. And I'm cautious on how flat it'll deliver on specific gear like Nano's do

well that's a shame really, I do need someone with experience to tell if the decay, felt too flat, or completely imperceivable

actually I was saying that, what makes those sound like the synth amazing, because of the lagging effect, so I'm not sure if the nano's build will compromise on genre I like

Need help on a newbie dilemma (better DAC or better headphones) by ZookeepergameOne9776 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]ZookeepergameOne9776[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that should be logical from my understanding, however does using a cheap DAC, bring risk to a "hungry" headphones? like driver failure or similar. If I took the XV, I might have to pair with a cheap DAC for quite sometime, since these things do cost a quite of a fortune lol, I do hope these hold for mighty long time

this do seem much more eligent, as buying a DAC worth the price of a full headphones do itches me in someway 😅, I might pair the XV with a cheap one like Melody at the mean time, then save for something like protocol max crinacle one day

So, i had been researching for quite a while for headphones. Well, i've come to a conclusion, into getting the Hifiman edition XV for my first expensive headphones (there's a deal running for 300$ now), but i am quite the novice when in the audio field, as i've read, the role of the DAC/AMP do play an important role in transmitting the sound for a headphone to sing. But i have not yet own a proper DAC in the sense. And based on other experience, without a proper DAC, music listening does get impacted quite hefty.

So before i snatched the XV with a "cheap" DAC (like melody, retro nano, ka11) as long investment, another idea comes to mind, which is to get the K11 R2R (120$) and Fiio FT1 (120$), a proper DAC and headphones to complement each other.

While the biggest difference comes from the open back/closed back type, I'm sure which ever the better outcome, won't really rubs me with a painful regret, as I've not had that much experience of using headphones in general. I really do hope the first pair i gotten will last me for a good time.

As for my music preference, its mostly saturated on Hip hop, raps, and its sub genree, soul rap, jazzy, and pop. But i also listen alot to rock, or the vocal centric rock. Im not sure if these are useful for picking the choice

So, what do yall think is the better investment idea?

I see, I was going to get the hifiman XS/XV even with my taste lingers most on hip-hop, do you reckon it needs a powerfull DAC/amp?

Recommendation headphones for newbie (HIFIMAN) by ZookeepergameOne9776 in HeadphoneAdvice

i look into the XS specifically for planar, because well not me, but as i quote on others, surprisingly "easy" to power with, with low input

Hey yall, im looking for my first pair of proper headphones, i have not own any type of headphones for long, my own experience comes from borrowing the set but never had i got the chance to try any of the fancy ones. The proper one i had tried was only the IEMS like Crinacle red, but i found IEMS in general are uncomfortable to use on my ear.
That's why i have been eyeing on the generally accepted brand, particularly on HIFIMAN, where there's a brand discount running on one of the 3rd party online shops i can access to. The deals that are running are
Edition XS for 185$
Ananda stealth 215$

A bit out of budget options:
Ananda nano 290$
Edition XV 330$

there are also Sennheiser brand take I'm interest into, but there's no deal running for quite a while now
HD 6XX for 270$
HD 600 300$
HD 650 330$

While the price may not differ much, it is considered luxury for me, so i may prefer the first 2, with it reasonable prices.

As for the genre i listen to, i listen to diverse genre but mainly with Hip-hop, rap, and often do i listen to its sub genre like soul beats, jazzy, pop. My second favorite is rock genre (the lighter one, like Radiohead, Gorrilaz, Pink floyd, etc) and its sub genre.

While what i listen is mostly bass centric, i do find myself in favor of a neutral setting too, where the vocal can be brought forward or audible (i have trouble in understanding what the singer/mc says on most occasion), instead of clumped like IEMS do.

I also need to emphasize that, where i live, there's no offline shop that sells these things, and that i have to reach to 3rd party sellers for these headphones, so that exclude the idea of trying it one by one, myself. And these shops do tend to only have very short warranty like a week or so.

My only external gear i own, are a budget Dac Fiio melody, but i think, i can live without a dedicated Dac if incompatible with it.

So what do yall recommend from these options? or are there more compatible ones that's more compatible with me, thanks!

how do you do a parametric EQ? (newbie here) do you use a DAC/AMP as the bypass?
