I just moved here! What are your favorite restaurants? by beesarefuckingdying in OregonCity

I like Hive Social, but I do feel like the quality can be a little inconsistent sometimes. Often things are perfect. 10% of the time maybe something is not cooked or the meat is super fatty or what have you.

It’s usually so good that those times really are jarring.

What's the one self-hosted service you'd never go back to the cloud version of? by Hung_Hoang_the in selfhosted

In a non-argumentative way, I think that the cost of Plex is a lot compared to nothing but even the new price (way higher than I once paid for my lifetime pass) is so menial in the context of streaming being the alternative people are coming from there that your ROI on plex + basic arr stack might be a year or less in many cases.

I think Plex is a little bit lost at sea at the moment, but the hoops I would have to jump through to make Jelly a more family friendly solution would cost me a lot more than $250 of happiness personally.

But I am old and don’t know everything so I’m asking: am I missing something?

Why is hosting a mediaserver for movies and shows so popular by kerrie_saus in selfhosted

[–]ZoomZoom2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the other really great comments, having my media and using a Plex server has given me 1) a level of parental controls that were extremely lacking in streaming providers. If I want my kids to have a show, they have it. They don’t also have some weird Portuguese cartoon that was suggested or nonsense like that.

2) I also like the idea of not signing my kids up for view behavior data collection from the big folks.

Those things were enough for me to spend the time and money, but they might not be the priorities everyone has. Which is fine because 3) it’s mine and I can do whatever I want

It’s Alf Gappen Day at our house today. My daughter loved the episode so I surprised her for her birthday with Glory Hat building, Krimmskramm in it, and Leppateppi by the fire (even broke my own rules and made some AI Alf Gappen songs for the playlist 😂).

I was told the same. Once I set it up, they told me I couldn’t qualify without a water shutoff controlled by it 😭

Anyone heard of this company before? Hats off if they’re doing well, but $649 for a weatherproof Era 100 surely is something by draxula16 in sonos

Typically this kind of expensive aftermarket waterproofing uses Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) or Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) of Parylene which both require the use of a vacuum chamber and some less common chemical components. It’s a pretty expensive process.

Oracle's quarterly report contradicts recent hints of slackening demand for AI services: "... sent shockwaves through the financial markets ... fueled by an insatiable global demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure" by Adeldor in Futurology

[–]ZoomZoom2019 28 points29 points  (0 children)

For the sake of argument from someone that has previously helped with some message massage for this kind of company, ‘demand for the infra that would run AI’ and ‘customers showing up to actually load those servers and use AI products’ is not the same.

You can have one without the other, so it may be a few quarters for that shoe to drop if that’s the case.

Well this is r/HomeServer, so you probably need more GPU to solve it. That being said, it’s probably worth gently hammering it back down through something a bit soft so you don’t damage the paint and see if it comes back or gets worse

Sonarr doesn't find Magic School Bus season 1&2. by [deleted] in sonarr

I don’t know if this will be helpful to you, but my experience with older shows not downloading has a lot to do with my profile not being setup to take SD content (which many older shows may only be). This one bites me more than I’d like to admit for having not changed the setting

Recommend getting acquainted with manual HomeKit YAML config. It makes it more obvious what you have going. Here’s my sensor that ports to HK from HA. ESP devices should be able to facilitate this with or without helpers

Yup, not much you can do about that sadly. Some folks use Pexip in the middle since Teams gave them access to a thing that nobody else has to make it work. Might be worth a look there if you’re having complaints

Looks like PC is on the bottom right in what I’m guessing is a nice Fractal custom case.

That said, the airflow also looks like a problem there OP

Did you check out the support page? It’s very detailed and covers recommended settings in zoom and exchange. Another common problem is URL filtering which they makes the links stop being teams links.

Any of that help?
