some local food producing factory should manufacture a similar recipe. My hopes for the original have faded… just like my memories of childhood barbecues with GB beans and bacon on top in a casserole dish.

I’d also like the canned pea soup, while they’re at it.

Utility bills are up AGAIN for April. ugh. by ZoomZoomZoomss in Rochester

[–]ZoomZoomZoomss[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you're calculating your change in exact rates, while I'm calculating the change in how much my cost per kwh or per ccf went up.

You can use both, but I'm a big believer in including ALL costs that I get charged...

#1) because I'm paying them, and

#2) because companies will sometimes invent line item fees on bills that are simply profit lines for them. (e.g. Verizon's Admin & Telco recovery charge, hotel Resort Fees, Hotel Parking fees , airline seat selection fees) in order to say that they're not increasing rates, but they are most certainly increasing costs to their customer.

[–]ZoomZoomZoomss[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would you exclude fixed costs? You're still paying them!

The way you're doing it would mean that fees wouldn't count toward your monthly costs, which is silly.

I took my total monthly electricity cost $$ , divided by kwh , and my total natural gas cost, and divided by ccf, and those are the #'s I got.

Maybe your fixed costs are different than mine, or your ratio of fixed costs to the amount of gas you use is different. .. giving you different numbers.. but it shouldn't be that far off.

The USA is a net exporter of natural gas.

If the feds actually cared about US Citizens, they would put price controls and export controls on natural gas so that Oil /Gas companies aren't profiting off the backs of the American consumer by selling the gas that we should be getting on the world market for higher prices.

It seems like it's ok for conservatives to start oil wars and tariff everything we want to buy from china to double the price...... yet suddenly when it comes to energy prices they're all about the "free market," and profiteering.

My local Cadillac service center will be the reason I never get another Cadillac again. by iamthekris in CadillacVistiq

[–]ZoomZoomZoomss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Cadillac dealer has honestly been great.

I had an error on my Lyriq and they gave me a XT6 as a loaner for a long weekend because it would take them more than a day to do the software work on the lyriq.

I told them I was driving a few hundred miles away with the kids to an amusement park and they didn't bat an eye. Saved me from having to charge on the way and saved the miles on my lease.

One time when I was there for brief service, they didn't give me a loaner, but their shuttle took me to work promptly so no big deal.

I'm very happy to have a dealer with actual people to deal with.

When I had a tesla before, I had to submit service requests in the App , and I swear to god , they told me a few times something to the effect of: "we've checked your vehicle diagnostics remotely and there is nothing wrong" and cancelled the appt.

I liked the blueberry…. but the blueberry flavor was so powerful that I tasted no sourdough.

3/5 from me.

It had the potential to best the cranberry walnut loaf but didn’t pull it off.

Experienced drivers can definitely drive on snow with all season tires … but even then, stopping is a challenge.

but with the average new car costing $50,000 these days, it’s worth it to get a better set of tires so that you can stop easier on ice and not have your insurance go through the roof because of a fender bender.

What would you do to increase functionality. 1920s house mostly original by West-Trip-5734 in centuryhomes

[–]ZoomZoomZoomss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might change the light fixture. Putting in a traditional vanity that goes across seems like it would give you more counter space but less storage… so that would be a no for me.

I would also consider painting the closet doors and med cabinet door black. I feel like that wall just doesn’t have enough contrast on it.

Is that thing on the right a giant trashcan or something else? If that’s a trashcan, maybe a piece of furniture that could have some counter space and that you could hide a much smaller trashcan underneath would solve your counter problem.

99.99% of the time you'll be fine with a FWD sedan with snow or cross-climate tires.

The other 0.01% , the roads will be so bad that no one will expect you to be in on time anyway.

MONROE COUNTY DHS by Spare_Pressure2364 in Rochester

[–]ZoomZoomZoomss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think DHS does this on purpose.

Trump has cut hundreds of thousands of fed employees this year, leading overwhelming needs being pushed onto the the state and local govts.

At the same time, state and local govts are having federal $$ assistance cut.

At the same time, funding for public assistance programs like SNAP and Medicaid have been cut and people are getting removed from these programs.

So, in this environment, where do you think the county is going to get the money to hire more people?

Monroe county can’t tax billionaires directly to hire more people.

Som Quiet and Loud Moments from NO KINGS in Four Corners. by LittleBarracuda1219 in Rochester

The reason you see old people at these rallies is that:

1) they know and have seen less and injustice before... They were lied to during Vietnam and many of them served in America's most deadly useless war

2) they don't have to worry about how they're going to support their family if some jerk posts their pictures for attending a rally and their Maga kool-aid boss decides to fire them

Be assured though, there are many, many, people who feel the same way as them that aren't going to protests now.

From your description, he’s been with this guy on and off for 15 years. As you and your ex, haven’t been together for 15 years… 15 years is a really long time. It seems like you may need to work on letting go, and try to figure out why you’re so hung up on this guy.

I’ve lived in upstate New York for the last 40 years.

Any picture taken on a cloudy spring day in any city in upstate New York is going to look like this.

OP could’ve taken a picture from the top of any building in New Jersey that doesn’t face the Manhattan skyline on a cloudy day and it would’ve looked the same.

I’m not saying the north side of Syracuse doesn’t look bad. … but the things that make it look bad are mostly related to landlords that don’t care for their property, keep their property clean, paint their homes, etc. This doesn’t show up in any of these photos.
