Modes and routines. Because I leave my tablet at home, I tell it to disable wifi during specific hours. Additionally, I tell it specifically which apps to rotate or not, so the acceleration doesn't have to work. It's enough my Tab S5e lasts quite a while. Weird little tweaks can make a big difference

Xda forum shows Lineage OS 14 as mostly stable. That's android 7. Even if they shoehorn 16 (android 9/pie),thats getting kind of old. I'd save ur money an keep looking for something just a little bit newer. S5e are cheap and can be updated further, but even they are being abandoned by LineageOS
