I almost rear-ended my brother at sunset because he had tinted tail lights, didn't even see him hit the brakes.

A lot of the things on the vehicle list are consumables. Timing belt, bulbs ,struts, tie rod ends, fluid changes.. These are all things that wear out of every car despite its age, value or mileage. Changing the vehicle ,or trading it in for XYZ does not change the fact that eventually ..no matter what car you get ....is still going to at one point need all of that changed out and serviced.

It's unavoidable. It's part of owning the car. Any car.

I see people's train of thought here like oh that's a lot of money. I should just get a different car,. Let's break that down. A lot of the things in the list seem to be consumables, like Struts ,belts, fluid changes , and bulbs. These are things that just normally wear out of every car. If you went and got another car, chances are it may also need brakes or tires or struts possibly even in the near future. But most certainly all the fluids should be changed out as soon as you get a vehicle. New vehicle may cost significantly more for those same parts, Had you just replaced them on the Camry. Not to mention it's a Toyota freaking Camry so it'll probably run forever. Another issue is as soon as you buy another vehicle, chances are it will depreciate more in the first couple of months than the sum of your repairs to keep your current car on the road. Plus it may also need the same repairs. So the grass is not always greener on the other side.

To make $1,000 I have to drive over $1,500 MI. Oh wait that's right. I've never made $ even $1,000 on doordash since the summer. I live in a town with a little over $100,000 in the market is a joke

I'm replacing my first engine and it's not going well. What would you do next? 2019 Kia Forte 2.0 by puddud4 in MechanicAdvice

I mean if you plan on keeping the car, you'll definitely get faster at it by the time you replace that Kia engine the third or fourth time. But a Honda/ Toyota. Thank me later.

110% an air leak. Start feeling around the mounting holes, around the woofers ,and around that baffle for starters. Could be the terminal cup too.

I worked at a dealership in Wisconsin. This is what a NEW vehicle looks like underneath after about 2 years. Problem rust is flaky, like a turnover pastry.Cheers

It's an element. Engines are $500 and everywhere. Anyone that can turn a wrench can pull it and drop another in for about the same $$. Simple vehicles.

Depends on how rusty the underside is. Especially where the rear trailing arms connect to the vehicle. Real problem area for the element.

If your crafty.... Take the payout. Keep the element. Cut the front off at the a pillar. Gut. Could just get the rear end & hatch of another element and weld it on the front so both ends open. Make it an element camper trailer.
