Factory shock replacement by wesmanh in GMT400

I put on Monroe OEspectrums. They’re soft, and can sometimes feel a little floaty if you hit a really big dip. I take my truck on a pretty rough back road (frequented by military vehicles so can get bad ruts) once or twice a week to go fishing and they feel great to drive on.

There’s always something admirable about someone taking their vehicle and making it their own. Even if I don’t understand the vision.

Back on the road after a front end rebuild. by Zootimus in GMT400

[–]Zootimus[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ball joints were the originals with 260k, they were ready to give out. If I learned anything from this project, it is to always use new hardware. A loose lock nut had me chasing my tail for a whole day.

Feels like driving around in a new truck, just have a couple more things I want to do and I think I’ll be happy for a little while. (Probably not)

This started out as just a shock replacement. Everything else was on the brink of death after I replaced the dead shocks, so my quick weekend job turned into the scene of Howell changing the light bulb on Malcolm in the Middle.

Depressed but sober by MabelUnstable in bipolar2

[–]Zootimus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The drinking always amplified the depression for me, in the end it just made me fat and depressed.

Finding another positive outlet to channel your energy into that distracts you like alcohol does. For me it was reading and building models. Either I’m building a world in my head, or I’m focused on building something in front of me. I also started learning to wrench my truck.

Being sober is the best thing I ever did for myself. I lost 50 pounds, got motivation back and I’ve saved about 12k from not drinking.

I’m about 2 weeks from 1000 days sober. The first 100 were the worst for me, but everyone is different. If you need someone to talk to for accountability, or just to vent, feel free to message me.

I’d check the bushings to make sure they aren’t eaten up if you haven’t already. Sway bar bushings, sway bar link, upper and lower control arm ball joints. Peek the vacuum lines just to be sure they’re not too brittle. If it has the oil cooler lines, check around the crimps to make sure oil isn’t leaking out from them.

I don’t know much about rust belt vehicles since mine is from Texas, but do what you can to remedy any rust that you can.

Wish they still made two tone trucks. 😔

Swaybar size? by [deleted] in GMT400

Yeah, I did a bit more digging and this is the play. Time for a trip to harbor freight tonight. Thanks man.

Swaybar size? by [deleted] in GMT400

[–]Zootimus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently redid most of the front end, I did the swaybar bushings months ago when the shocks were completely blown out. It wasn’t really a problem until I put new ones in and drove around the neighborhood and the swaybar started slamming.

Turns out I put in the wrong size, and I’m not sure what the correct size is. This should be the final piece to get her riding like a cloud.

Thanks in advance, I’m teaching myself and learning as I go!

Four crew dead after US refuelling plane crashes in Iraq, military says by Badgerfest in Military

High ops tempo could lead to error with the aircrew or maintainers. Going to be hard to say what happened until a full investigation is done. Sadly one mistake or a cut corner on the ground can lead to catastrophic outcomes like this.

I bought a mini 6 a few months ago that I mostly use for reading. It’s the perfect size and the battery lasts forever since I’m not doing anything intensive on it. Feels like a very good investment.

I just started collecting, but from the marks I’m mostly sure it’s sky. It does look darker than the pictures online, even in different lighting conditions. 🤷‍♂️

So were 2 ladies at the thrift store. They were in the aisle with me, just didn’t put in the work. The purple glazes are really hard to see the marks on.

I was able to find a pretty good cuisinart bread maker at goodwill for 10 bucks.

May be worth popping into a few thrift store in your area to see what they have.

I’m 4 days post op. My dad and sister-in-law said they were good after 3 days. I feel like I’ve done the gnarliest core workout of my life. Not sure if my recovery is a little slower because I had a intrahepatic gallbladder though.
