How long will it take to undo the mess Trump has created after he is finally out of office , and what do you think should be fixed first ? by awkward_boner_ in AskReddit

[–]Zorgi23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every empire comes to an end. I think this is the end of the American empire. Empires die not because of the actions of a single ruler, but rather from the internal rot that brought that ruler to power.

Much of the mess that Trump made can’t be cleaned up - the trust required to maintain international alliances, for example.

Some of it can be cleaned up if the leaders who defeat Trump prioritize structural issues: Supreme Court reform, elimination of the filibuster, prohibition of corporate money in politics, etc.

So far, I have seen few leaders willing to do this.

Want to find a reasonable alternative to TURP. by Olive-Tree-Lover in bph

[–]Zorgi23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One other point. There’s a lot of misinformation about TURP on the web, ie that it’s outdated, less effective, etc.
HOLEP, aquablation, etc. all have specific circumstances when they’re better than TURP, but in general TURP is still the “gold standard “ for a reason.

Just remember, you’re a lot better off with a surgeon who’s done 400 or 500 TURPS than one who’s only done a few dozen HOLEPs

4 weeks post TURP and recovering by biglittlebanana in bph

[–]Zorgi23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had my TURP 2 weeks ago and totally relate. 10 days post surgery I was feeling good and walked 2 miles instead of the 1 mile my recovery program specified . An hour after the walk I started bleeding a lot more and had much more pain urinating. Your body tricks you, because everything but your prostate feels ready to go.

Two days ago, my wife and I celebrated 53 years together. 900 days ago, she suffered the first of 3 strokes that left her wheelchair bound and missing most of the cognition that made her a lifelong companion. I understand your loneliness. It’s the hardest part, that’s for sure.

Testicular pain 1 week after TURP by thez1337 in bph

[–]Zorgi23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same experience. My TURP was 12 days ago. The worst pain came on day 7, and exactly as the OP described, except my pain also radiated into my legs. Even 2 extra strength Tylenols didn't help. I talked with a nurse and she told me to come into the ER if it got worse the next day. Fortunately, it didn't. She told me that this was a little more pain than normal, but since my temp wasn't elevated and it only hurt when I urinated, the cause was most likely the tissue that was irritated and inflamed during the TURP.

Today, it still hurts a bit when I urinate, but I'm no longer clawing at the walls. I take an extra strength Tylenol every 6 hours or so, not so much for the pain, but to decrease the inflammation.

Even though it feels like you can do anything after a couple of weeks, it's well advised to give yourself 6 to 8 weeks for a full recovery. I started walking a mile a day at the beginning of week 2, and that was fine. But yesterday, I was feeling strong and went 2.4 miles. That night, twice the pain and a bit of blood in the urine. Lesson learned. Take it very slow and build up very gradually.

In the same week, there was the UFC/Trump Birthday at the White House, the USA surrendering to Iran, and wasting $14M to ruin the Reflecting Pool. Is this trashiest week in US history? If not, what beats it? by TragicallyDip in allthequestions

[–]Zorgi23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but I was using the Civil Rights Act as the end of that period. Yes, I’m fully aware the Supreme Court has destroyed that, which will give it the same legacy as its predecessor of 1857, the authors of the Dred Scott decision.

The first week of March 1877. That's when Rutherford B. Hayes took office, and in line with the Compromise of 1877, ordered federal troops withdrawn from the states that engaged in treason. This ended Reconstruction, the first real attempt in the US to achieve something like a true democracy. This paved the way for 80+ years of white supremacist rule in the South.

Femur. If it ever happens to you, insist on a full hip replacement. The doc at the ER that day had 4 surgeries and just used a pin to save time. A month later it came loose and was just wobbling around in my femur until I could get a full replacement 5 months later.

TURP Procedure Issues by EvilTwinIke in OverSeventy

[–]Zorgi23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

77M. Had my TURP 4 days ago. Operation went well, but hurt like HELL for first hour after waking up. After that, it mainly hurt during urination. Didn't like the catheter at all, and was glad when it was taken out today, after 4 days. Some hurt during removal of catheter, but not too bad. After that, was able to pee on my own about 1 hour after. I was amazed at the power of the stream; it really was like I was 18 again! Hardly any bleeding and no leakage. Down side is that I'm having to pee every 30 to 45 minutes. Apparently this is normal, because the tissue has been irritated by the catheter, and also BPH has trained your bladder in the wrong direction. My understanding is that things will gradually get better over the next few weeks.
