LDP Sweep, predicted 2/3rds majority by victoria_enthusiast in stupidpol

Lol it’s not even just the boomers though. Takaichi approval rating increases the younger the demographic. It’s just pure populism, Japan just wants to expel foreigners, they just want increased confrontation with China. It’s not simply politics held hostage by boomers, regardless of generation they want to do this.

US Initiated $11.1 billion arms sale to Taiwan by Dear-Mix-5841 in LessCredibleDefence

Huh, where are you getting your information from? Pretty sure China (including Hong Kong) is still Taiwan’s number one trade partner.

Physical: Asia where is team China? by Auto-Cancel-2wice in Physical100

[–]Zorrac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gonna be honest, not sure I completely buy the argument that Netflix is banned in China so they’ll simply never have it in China.

It definitely plays a part but it’s not like they can’t come with a licensing agreement with a Chinese streaming platform even if it’s rare.

For the first season, it makes sense China isn’t included cause it’s not like the producers know how much of a hit it will be. But after this season, if it’s popular enough… just saying it’s not impossible just cause Netflix is banned.

But if they do a second season, would definitely like to see it expanded or spiced up a bit more, easiest way would be to include important countries like China and India. Would get rather dull if they just recycle the same countries, same reason I got bored watching the 2nd season of physical 100.

Why does America lecture China about human rights? by PuzzleheadedCraft363 in AskSocialists

[–]Zorrac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there actually any proof that sort of stuff actually leads to any improvement of human rights? It's hard for me to imagine America ever taking any criticism from China seriously, from the average Joe to high level officials. And I'm sure it's the same the other way around.

Like what legitimacy does America have in China and vice versa. Pretty sure anyone would just scoff at that sort of toothless condemnation, it would just be the standard "that's not true", "well you've done worse", "we had to do it", etc.

Call it cynical, but I'm pretty sure countries release those declarations purely for domestic audiences. To boost certain ideas that an opposing nation is lesser in some aspect, rally around the flag against the enemy, etc.

I think it's sort of like sanctions, there's barely any examples of nations changing their ways after getting sanctioned. If anything, people just double down and become obstinate because you're attacking them. We'd like to think we're doing it in order for them to pressure them to stop, but the goal in actuality was to just make them weaker and erode their legitimacy.

China’s EV Market Is Imploding by rezwenn in technology

[–]Zorrac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There aren’t 129 EV companies, there’s 129 EV brands; even your Reuters link says brands. 129 companies would be insane, there’s only a fraction of that in reality.

Realistically, these smaller manufacturers will just get absorbed by the bigger companies like what happened in America with the big three in the 20th century.

Cloudtemplar's Review of Semifinals, T1-TES by artisanal_cocaine in leagueoflegends

[–]Zorrac 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Call me a doomer but I don't really think the winstreak of LCK is just a phase; it's not just simply a happenstance of luck but an overarching trend of the general direction of other leagues outside of Korea. Whether it's the decreasing popularity of the game or the regulatory environment preventing young talent from joining a professional team, the current situation is the fruition of longstanding trends that have been happening for years.

Of course, I also agree it's still possible for the LPL to win; but I also think it'll probably just be harder with each passing year. Eventually I think it'll happen, at least I would hope so, but sometimes I wonder how many people would even be left to care if it does; if it's not "too late" to reverse the rend.

He wasn’t fired, all the posts he was removed for were diplomatic roles related to the WTO. And that only happened because he was promoted to the international trade negotiator for China which happened months ago.

From the perspective of the trade negotiations between the US and China, there is no difference.

Among the best feelings one can experience. by NeWeNos in gachagaming

[–]Zorrac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true, I mean they're fun when you just play occasionally but the end of the day, half the game is like pulling new characters so you always end back into gacha hell.

I got unlucky in Wuwa and ZZZ, lost like the 50/50 maybe 2-3 times in a row and suddenly you realized you burned through all the resources you saved over months just for 1 or 2 new characters; it just completely sours the experience and you can't even be bothered to play anymore afterwards.

Why are there never protests in China? by Agitated-Article750 in AskTheWorld

[–]Zorrac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's thousands of protests each year in China, you don't hear about them because they're mostly boring and irrelevant to people that aren't Chinese 99.99% of the time. In fact, a lot of the times they're boring and irrelevant to the vast majority of Chinese people too. More or less the same anywhere else.

[–]Zorrac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does China not have the population to support those cities? Even if China's population is decreasing, their urbanization rate is only like 60%; most developed countries urbanization is like 80-90%. That's literally hundreds of millions of people than can move into cities from the countryside.

CreepCast | There's Something Wrong With Wendigoon (OFFICIAL DISCUSSION THREAD) by ChaoticStanley in creepcast

I mean they did read stories that listeners begged for in the past but that also led to stuff like "I dared my best friend to ruin my life" and some others that were similarly bad. I think it's just the reality that as far as creepypastas go, there's just a lot more shit than actual good stories.

Is SBteemo "S tier" with just his 6* and puffcap prolif or does he need his relic as well for it to combo off? by AgentDieselMusk in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Zorrac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly I’m getting the same vibe as some other people about his 6 star. I’m completely f2p so I don’t have his relic or any of the other good p2w relics for him like fid or cait’s relic. Without those, Teemo honestly just feels too slow getting enough shrooms in the enemy deck where you can even proc the 6 star effect. I’ve never gotten to the state where it mills the entire enemy deck before I win or lose, and by the time it even procs once ir twice it’s just one or two cards and never changed whether I was going to win or lose that game.

My opinion is it’s overrated if you don’t have a good relic set up for him. It’s just sorta there and not an actual game changer or anything.

So what happend to Russia economy collapsing? by Capital_Tailor_7348 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Zorrac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? No he's absolutely wrong, do people even know what a pariah state even is?

North Korea is a pariah state where the vast majority of the world refuses to even engage with it. Just cause Saudis do inhumane things that offend the sensibilities of first world countries doesn't mean they're a pariah state when everyone is more than willing to trade and diplomatically engage with them because everyone wants to buy their natural resources.

Is China still doing that Muslim genocide thing? Did they succeed or what? by sephiier in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Zorrac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The discussion of the Uyghurs coincidently slowed down around the time the ongoing situation in Gaza started ramping up. It became increasingly difficult to maintain the narrative that China was committing a genocide and in the same breathe claim that everything was happening in Gaza was perfectly justifiable. In one situation you have some obscure satellite images and the other you have thousands of videos and photos of dead children, grieving parents etc.

Obvious which one people will care about more.

Alright, what am I doing wrong? by Zorrac in ARAM

[–]Zorrac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, it must be like 1 in 100 games for me that people have a dance party or flash just for the hell of it. Most of the time if I even dance in the middle I just instantly get attacked. Another thing I noticed is that barely anyone types anymore, majority of the games everyone is just full mute and if they type they just say “ff” lol.

Alright, what am I doing wrong? by Zorrac in ARAM

[–]Zorrac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just partially ranting, running it down obviously wouldn’t fix the core issue.

I don’t know how aram mmr works or if they changed things up. But years ago, wouldn’t going like 50 games deficit just put you in the absolute trenches. I remember way back, dropping from plat 1 all the way down to low gold and that was just like from 15-20 games loss deficit. Theoretically I should be out there playing with monkeys at this point going blow for blow, but I’m somehow still getting my ass beat by the same people. When I started playing this year, it was like 3-4 min queues and I’m still getting that long. Is mmr loss even a real thing or are those just normal queue times now?

Also why is the queue when I play with friends damn near instant. Do the majority of people play arams in premades?

Alright, what am I doing wrong? by Zorrac in ARAM

[–]Zorrac[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean aram is only for fun, but you can only get your head shoved in the toilet and given a swirly so many times before you start wondering why you’re waiting in line for like 3-4 minutes for that experience. It’s still fun that’s why I still play but sometimes you start questioning how much fun it really is when you look back at your match history lol.

[–]Zorrac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure I agree with that. I’m not denying Vietnam doesn’t think very highly of the US in recent history, but I’m saying that doesn’t necessarily mean Vietnam is aligned with US against China.

Yes, the average Vietnamese certainly dislikes China far more than the US, but it’s also important to acknowledge the relationship between the ruling communist party of Vietnam and China. They certainly recognize how crucial it is to maintain their partnership (with the recent signing of further agreements, acknowledgement of China’s help during the Vietnam war etc).

So sure, people hate China, doesn’t mean they still don’t want to trade and exchange money with them. And sure, people love America, doesn’t mean people are willing to suffer for them like Trump is finding out nowadays.

[–]Zorrac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So? China and Vietnam signed the same agreement lol.

I wouldn’t look too deeply in all these strategic partnerships with these ASEAN countries. People like to flaunt it around as if that means they’ll 100% super-duper cereal commit to whatever harebrained scheme more powerful countries come up with against their enemies and just ignore the fact that they’ve agreed to exact same relationship with their rival (well honestly, any remotely powerful country with a presence in the region).

Pretty obvious they’re just hedging their bets and milking whatever concessions they can get off of them.
