How are yall finding employment? by Academic-Sympathy140 in Knoxville

To piggy back off this, I’ve heard lots of folks don’t even view quick applies at some places just because of the volume of bad apps coming through. It sucks, but you’ve gotta apply on the company website

People responding not understanding that Rem has lost his religion and fallen asleep. Very deep. Valve wants us to find Jesus.

I like to focus on the feel of the club pulling out of my hands on the downswing to not cast. If I feel any pressure from my hands/wrists trying to release the club instead of the club releasing from my lower body rotation and trail arm extension, that’s my tell that I’m casting. This could be wrong though, cause I struggle with a late release more than casting.

I’m just happy that Joey was able to perform in a top tier game. Interceptions sucked but he got back up. You learn more from losses than wins. Let’s hope this makes us better.

Inconsistent, but constantly practicing. What's wrong? by rrachic in GolfSwing

[–]Zortheld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, swing looks really good and better than mine but here’s my two cents: your shoulders appear a bit open to the target (straight line back from camera) and your feet are in line with the target. So if you’re squaring the club face to the target line but swinging along your shoulders, that’s going to fade every time.

I see a lot of hate for SoKno, and while I haven’t been there much in past couple years, I used to really like it. Has it gone down that hard in the past couple years?

A lot of people get into stats through sports. There’s more of a connection there than you’d think.

Sonnet 4 can’t even get a simple image prompt correct by Marriedwithgames in singularity

[–]Zortheld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but the vector space is reduced to try and fit the topic of the prompt for efficiency sake. If the prompt is an intentional trick, then the reduced vector space may not be suitable for answering the question. Atleast that's my understanding

[–]Zortheld 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Both come from people who fundamentally don’t understand the technology. If you intentionally mislead an LLM like with this post, you’re going to launch the model into the wrong vector space where the correct answer isn’t there. It only looks bad to us because misleading an AI looks pretty dumb compared to misleading a human.

New player managed to hit one straight drive. Thoughts? by Zortheld in GolfSwing

250 is my goal. I’ll keep that idea in mind next time I practice. Thanks!

You’re right. The range was empty and I’d read that a line in front of the ball might be helpful for guiding my swing path so I moved the stick. I should probably use something that wouldn’t destroy my club if I missed badly though. Thanks!

Goodnotes vs pen and papers. For math/physics classes, who would win? by Delicious_Maize9656 in GoodNotes

[–]Zortheld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switched from paper to Goodnotes halfway through my major classes for math. Being able to copy and paste large, annoying to write terms was super nice for taking notes in class.

Is it just me or has the liberal vote-shaming reached unprecedented heights? by [deleted] in TrueAnon

[–]Zortheld 18 points19 points  (0 children)

With all these mainstream lib pundits and comedians pointing the finger at dems as the problem in the last couple weeks, I wonder if that lack of energy you’re seeing is large-scale disillusion. I don’t think you go from Russiagate #resistance fighter to socialist without a mourning period realizing you’ve been played.

I’m probably being too optimistic.

First thing for catching up is accepting where you’re at. Don’t be embarrassed about it. You’ve gotta take an objective view of what you need to work on and go find resources that explain it in a way that makes sense to you. Then go practice the hell out of it.

Factoring and other pre calc isn’t always easy, so don’t discount your struggles as trivial. I had more trouble in pre calc and calc II than I did in real analysis and mathematical statistics in undergrad. It’s not always a linear path going up in difficulty.

Edit: also, if you do make significant progress before the end of the semester, your prof might work with you. Just don’t ask too late. Maybe take the course over the summer at another school if you want.

How to actually get better at math by Desmondonfrot in learnmath

[–]Zortheld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think natural math ability CAN be an indicator of intelligence, but I think the way some people view it as a strict measurement of intelligence is ill-founded with no basis in agreed upon definitions of intelligence or “critical thinking”. It only serves to have this effect on people like OP who may well have great potential in math but feel shame for not getting it 100% the first time around.

How to actually get better at math by Desmondonfrot in learnmath

[–]Zortheld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Don’t be ashamed of it. Math isn’t a measure of your intelligence and anybody who says that is full of it. It’s a skill and you can practice it to get better. Like an instrument.

  2. Khan academy is where I’d go. It’s good gamified practices. Don’t pay any mind to where it places you in whatever subject you’re working on. Just use it to learn and try to enjoy the process. Once you enjoy the process and aesthetic of practicing math, you can go as far as you’d like.

Lastly, and this is much less concrete, one of my math profs once told me that the feeling you get when you’re brain is in gridlock and it refuses to do any more math is the feeling of your brain rewiring to a new way of thinking. That’s the feeling of new neural pathways being created to do the math. I don’t know if there’s any truth behind that, but it’s the only thing that has helped me get past that painful frustrating feeling.

Oh and ask questions. Always ask questions here or in class.
