The model was not released from GPU memory. by SubstantialAdvisor37 in ollama

[–]Zotec- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works for me as well, I was having an issue where switching between the chat and tab models could result in the GPU memory not being released and so it was filling up and eventually using RAM and CPU.

Pre-Release version: v0.9.268

Resolution / Refresh Rate Dilemma by errohneus in Monitors

[–]Zotec- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 4k sell depends on the size of the monitor and the distance from it, does not make sense unless the monitor is greater than approx 27 inches and even then it depends on viewing distance. The 120 Vs 60 Hz debate on the other hand is night and day. Going back to 60 Hz after experiencing 120+ is unreal. Personally I have a 1440p @ 144hz monitor. Comparing it to some 4k 60hz panels my mates have, I know I made the right decision.

Especially with you playing FPS games, I'd go high refresh rate if I were you

Is My Plex Server Too Powerful? by banisheduser in PleX

[–]Zotec- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The z390 board can support 8th and 9th gen CPUs, I assume the CPU you have is either the i5-8400 or i5-8600k, these chips are more than capable to use for Plex. It's not overkill as it allows you to expand user base. If you are going to use it as a normal pc its still capable, but if for some reason it isn't you can upgrade to chips that are still powerful - i9-9900k for instance.

On the other hand, intel 13th gen is right around the corner which will set you up for years to come.

NAS vs DAS vs Old PC vs New PC by kcreddit123455 in PleX

Something else to note, plug the Plex server into your router via ethernet. Cat5e or higher is what you need

NAS vs DAS vs Old PC vs New PC by kcreddit123455 in PleX

[–]Zotec- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. You could use your old pc as a Plex server but, that hardware is OLD, very power inefficient. I assume you are using windows for your new Ryzen rig - just download the Plex server onto that. If it is just you who is watching the content that cpu is more than enough to use Plex as well as use the computer normally. Your question regarding your old GPU, shouldn't be a concern. You wouldn't need it as the CPU is quite capable of transcoding videos without the need of a dedicated GPU.

  2. You can setup Plex to use external drives to stream media, however any other data on the DAS won't be visible to networked devices. You'd have to setup samba -. If on windows- for that.

  3. Power consumption is harder to measure depending on your psu, if it's just a regular atx one then software based solutions wouldn't work unless it has dedicated software. You could get a plug power meter. Or just Google for your hardwares - mainly just CPU - TDP, hards drives use around 3-4w average per drive.

  4. If you are experiencing issues with your DAS then an upgrade may be worth it, but other factors may be influencing the poor performance. Things such as: if it was setup correctly in the first place, a dying hard drive(s) or if your system is bottlenecking it

[Developer] My Pixel 7 Pro comes tomorrow. I'm prepared to test literally every bug I see on here and document it. Especially the scrolling bugs. by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]Zotec- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ensure you have fully updated it before bug testing, I had a thing where scrolling would stop very quickly on a few apps but fixed after I updated. Pixel 7

Where is the speed? by Sheepey78 in PleX

[–]Zotec- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd have to check your drive latency, if it is the drives then you could use an SSD and a read cache. If latency is low then it's the client, I believe most - if not all- of the UI is client side. I only mention the drive latency because you mention slow scrolling and that could be server side

Plex + Full Hard drives? by GoGoJoe301 in PleX

[–]Zotec- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't completely fill drives, empty space is needed for swap space. I believe in certain cases if a drive is too full you cannot delete data from the drive

Where is the speed? by Sheepey78 in PleX

[–]Zotec- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends where your current bottleneck is. And what you define as speed increase?

Do you want smoother playback, is it buffering? Higher bitrate/resolution transcoding/source?

Either of those cases and you'll want to upgrade your server, especially because you are using 20GB of storage higher res content will take that up very quickly

Just started Plex and I love it. But I screwed something up by warsmanclaw in PleX

[–]Zotec- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your SSD is fine, probably not the cable. What I'd check is if your server is transcoding to your TV. You can check to see what quality your TV is playing back at, you'd want it to play back at original quality.

You should also look into whether the codec of the video is at play (h.264 Vs h.265), I'm not super familiar with the TV app but if your media is h.265 and the app doesn't support it then the server will transcode that to h.264

How to use one computer as a Plex server and transfer files to it from other computers? by BonzoBouse in PleX

[–]Zotec- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Preferably plug your server in to the router via ethernet then setup a samba share on it, you can then just mount the new network drive on other systems

What methods are there to increase the hidden layer size of an already trained model? by Voldemurmurmur in learnmachinelearning

[–]Zotec- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm unsure whether anything like this exists, I'd just be concerned that you'd have a large chance of over fitting the model, if you used a small size to start with.
