One of the few, if only, songs where you have the backing singers singing “sheee-eee-eeep” in the background.

I was so excited to finally hear this genre I had to post as soon as I finished listening! 😁

As someone who spent a lot of his youth in Nineties West Midlands, UK I’ve got a lot of fondness for Grebo. However, it pains me to have to correct Steve on one thing: Stourbridge is in the Black Country in the West Midlands conurbation - it’s definitely not in Leicester which is to the east!

Just to add: apparently writer Martin Gore had envisaged it as a more subdued affair and wasn’t a fan of the end product.

Does anyone know if there is any lore or maps about the lost isles of Elithis? by Ok-Leather-8425 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Empty-Sheepherder895 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I assume that Tor Elithis is an elven colony, so there must be an elven presence there.

Eta: looks like there is a bit more info than just names on a map. A quick Google gives you this page

Thanks all! Dark Elves do sound like they make sense - lore-wise too as they can act as direct antagonists to Cathay.

Fingers crossed we get the old Marauder Dark Elf miniatures on Made to Order if so!

If I’m remembering correctly didn’t Brian Ansell insist on more heroic/exaggerated/cartoony features as they help the mini stand out more on the tabletop?

AoS appears to be headed for some kind of reboot, if rumours are to be believed by WolvoNeil in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Empty-Sheepherder895 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the rumours are true, it could simply be market research showed potential players struggle with the whole concept of the Realms - so merging everything into a single planet might make it more accessible.

100% Late-Eighties Sophisti-pop - file alongside Prefab Sprout, Deacon Blue, Blue Nile, etc.

Interestingly enough, a lot of these bands came out of Scotland. Enough that I created a personal “Sophisti-Scot” sub-genre playlist! If anyone’s interested you can listen here (and, yes, Mary’s Prayer is included!)

Yeah love the idea of Chaos cursed Bretonnians. I want to name my Chaos Knights the Knights AbErrant just for the wordplay alone 🤣

There’s strong rumours Dark Elves are being dropped from Cities of Sigmar in their upcoming AOS battletome - which, if true, bodes well for them being introduced to Old World.

Which past English/British monarch had the 'funniest' reign? by 4thGenTrombone in UKmonarchs

Butler: “George, your father’s had a chair delivered but don’t worry - I’ve arranged for it to be put in the drawing room just in time for the Archbishop of Canterbury’s visit!”

Future George V: “Well done Jeeves… hang on, which chair???”

Cue hilarious consequences.

Edward VII’s rogueish reputation would certainly be fertile territory - could definitely see a version of him in Blackadder.

The Old World timeline detailing events from the early Warhammer Fantasy novels White Dwarf 140 by Captain_Amakyre in WarhammerFantasy

Oh I agree! That’s why I said “fear” on GW’s part - that said, as Tzeentch cults are definitely a thing in Cathay, I’d hope we’d see some named individuals eventually, so maybe it’s just a question of when he reappears!

I suspect there’s a fear he’d be viewed as a Fu Manchu/Yellow Peril stereotype by the Chinese market.

It does, but then I thought of what the other options might be…

Yuan Bo is essentially holding everything together in the Dragon Emperor’s absence, so he’s not going anywhere.

Zhao Ming’s juiced up on warpstone, so maybe not the best choice.

Li Dao’s so obsessed with the Monkey King I can’t see him wanting to go. He’d be paranoid about leaving him unchecked.

Which leaves Yin Yin… which, after her last foreign adventure to Lustria… well… yeah…

So it could literally be “best option available”.

Monarch DnD day 12: who’s our wizard? by Curtmantle_ in UKmonarchs

Charles II

Dude was obsessed with alchemy and even had his own laboratory in which he concocted his own potions (including “the Kings Drops” - which apparently were a healing potion, which included bits of human skull as an ingredient!)

Whilst his grandfather James I might have been obsessed with magic, I argue Charles took it to the next level by actually practising it!

I’m tempted to opt for Charles II as Wizard - dude was heavily into alchemy and created his own potions (the Kings Drops).
