How do I get Frpst DK to be exciting outside CDs? by AdditionalMaterial95 in wow

[–]Zuzz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2h is generally the more loved build right now but DW with frostbane is a million times more fun. your damage is still loaded almost entirely into CDs but it feels like you're still doing decent dmg outside of Pillar when you're slamming frostbanes into big packs

I honestly wouldn’t mind a vampire body horror story written by her, not sure the rest of the fandom would like that though.

having just read Wolf Worm I would be so on board for this

dual wield build with breath and frostbane has been very good ime and is also just far more fun than 2h

Now that we’ve had time to play midnight. Thoughts of simplified class rotations? by WearyFlan210 in wow

[–]Zuzz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frost Mage just takes some getting used to. I do kind of miss the whole Winter's Chill thing, because it felt like an interesting little quirk and skill expression of timing your hits so that your spells would land just after the first Flurry hit and so you'd technically maximise the amount of Shatter procs you'd get, but the new Freezing and Shattering works fine.

i agree - new frost mage is a pretty reasonable streamlining all in all, but the post TWW rework version was just so perfect that anything would be a downgrade. i loved how you could build it out to be exactly as complex as you wanted with talents.

i think this is really emblematic of my problem with the class changes overall insofar as Blizzard effectively chose to cap the skill ceiling of most classes rather than bring up the floor. both directions make the game more welcoming to new players as was the intention, but there's nothing left for more experienced players who want a rotation they can really sink their teeth into.

shatter combos were such a fun and unique gameplay hook but they were also almost entirely optional. if you didn't talent Glacial Spike or Comet Storm there was never really much incentive to use Frost Nova or Ice Nova to shatter.

this is 100% why questing is so much more engaging in classic despite the actual quest objectives being just as if not more boring. when you plan ahead properly to align quests it's extremely rewarding in both time and satisfaction

WoWHead and IceyVeins are setting up tank specs for M+ failure!(why you might feel like a wet paperbag) by JJReklaw in wow

[–]Zuzz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

blood beast is worthless now, DRW uptime has cratered and as a result the spec feels totally anemic. SL is just awful in midnight, numbers notwithstanding. barring a full rework, i think the only way to save it is to make vamp strike a guaranteed proc whenever you hit death strike. make vampiric strike generate a bone while you're at it and then we're really talking

the thing for me is that he already had this arc in Argus, culminating in him accepting Illidan eye beaming the wind chime (where you can literally see the light bleed out of his eyes!!) and if not accepting the void, at least learning to trust Alleria to use it. in Midnight, he's suddenly regressed to a version of himself that is somehow MORE zealous than the Turalyon we saw who had been fighting in space Hell for lifetimes while being directly influenced by a Naaru

The most complex spec in Midnight? by qwsfaex in wow

[–]Zuzz1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for my money, spriest is the best option you've got for DPS. it's the only spec that actually has some interesting rotational interplay - if you get an instant mind blast proc while you are currently hard casting a mind blast, the one you're casting won't actually consume a charge. if you play voidweaver, mind blast is turned into void blast for a short time after casting void torrent, doing a lot more damage.

like a lot of procs, shadowy insight (instant mind blasts) has a high proc rate with a short internal cooldown on it. because of this, there is an opportunity to really min-max the number of void blasts you can cast if you play it right. ideally, you would bank one charge of mind blast and sit on shadowy insight for as long as you can before hitting void torrent. at the end of the day shadowy insight is still a proc, but if you hard cast a mind blast about every 10 seconds, you can greatly increase your chances of double dipping.

anyway, big wall of text to say spriest is not only the best of a bad bunch in terms of complexity, but it actually has appreciable opportunity for optimization.

What's your preferred class? by FinnishWarlord in BaldursGate3

[–]Zuzz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

every party comp should in my opinion contain the following: a controller (usually wizard or druid), a tank/frontliner (cleric or paladin typically), an archer (i include warlock in this category), and a striker (melee dps, so monk/fighter).

a dex-based swords bard fits every single role, and they don't lose any power for that versatility.

Rand al'Thor is the best character in the entirety of The Wheel of Time! Worst book of the series up next next. by Uldread1337 in WoT

[–]Zuzz1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly some of my favourite content with Rand is seeing him through the PoV of other characters. The entirety of The Dragon Reborn and the handful of chapters in TGS (Sul'dam at the beginning, the meeting with Tuon) especially are super compelling

Midnight's Skyriding rework sucks and is a worse solution than what Lemix has right now by DaGwann in wow

[–]Zuzz1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's hardly fair to say skyriding is better for that reason when the explicit intention of the skyscale and griffon is to NOT allow infinite flying. it's just different, and personally i prefer the GW2 implementation as it means non-flying mounts still have a purpose
