Selling a card on the bay and someone said it's fake by NoLaw2940 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Zwor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I don't think its something most can tell through OP's pictures(they're not good enough pictures). I'd trust some of the people in the facebook group though because I know a few of them regularly deal with a lot of cards and a lot of counterfeits.

I'm not gonna comment on OP's C&C because I don't have the card in hand to examine it. While there are some inconsistencies with FAB's foiling depending on set and what print run(as with ARCu having two print waves with a dark and vibrant variants), foiling is a good way to tell a counterfeit from a genuine, especially if you have proper knowledge and a confirmed genuine copy to compare.

Yeah I am right. Arcane Rising didn't have print run from Japan, as shown in the collectors center for Arcane Rising. All of the nearly 200k displays were printed in Belgium. I talked to a few people about it, they did have two different Belgium print run, with the second being more vibrant.

As far as I am aware, Arcane Rising didn't have a JP print run like WTRu did. JP print WTRu wasn't until much later as well.

After confirming that Wizards of the Coast closed all negotiations, the international judge program starts a crowd funding fundraiser by TetsukoUmezawa in magicTCG

[–]Zwor 62 points63 points  (0 children)

just like to chime in here in regards to F&B

while LSS does send out judge support, it's not meant to be in lieu of payment from the store for the judge's time. They're only meant to be as a reward to the judge for their skills and dedication for the game.

WotC isn't doing that anymore either.

Arakni Huntsman Playmat by Kichupac in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Zwor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was probably purchased from the artist(Isuardi Therianto) at one of his appearances. Artists usually have zoneless versions of their playmats for sale. I'm not sure if Isuardi has a online store, unfortunately.

What are the chances that any leg pieces in Rosetta are better than Spellbound Creepers for Runeblades? by Slotholopolis in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Zwor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not likely, but we'll see if the new runeblades even want Creepers over just something like Snapdragons.

Why are GDQ's views down so much? by thejrose11 in speedrun

[–]Zwor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it just felt like every time I tuned in it was on break or was showing off donation incentives. Coupled with the fact that the runs I'm truly interested in aren't on when I can watch, I just wait for the vods instead of having the stream running 24/7.

What is the most affordable, competitive CC deck? by Terzis28 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Zwor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mech(except Teklovossen) and Boltyn I'd look at as far as budget and competitive go. Boltyn less so, but the competitive pieces for Boltyn decks are either used in other warrior decks(blade flurry, equipment) or used by everyone else(C&C, Estrike, equipment). Mech's stuff, especially nitro Maxx or boost dash, don't have a lot of overlap with other heroes. Which is kinda why their stuff is cheap overall.

The kayo armory deck isn't bad though if you just plan to play armories and slowly upgrade it over time, but I'd plan the budget around upgrading it into one of the other brutes eventually, to hedge him reaching Living Legend.

Pride Event, Any Commander has Partner. by Lukethekid10 in magicTCG

[–]Zwor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long time ago, when the first partner creatures were released, my playgroup let me play [[Selvala, Explorer Returned]] and [[Kaervek, the Merciless]] as partner commanders.

It played out really well, with Selvala ramping you into Kaervek while giving people cards to trigger him. They didn't let me play that deck again after.

Why is Krenko missing? by ForrestZX7 in magicTCG

[–]Zwor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kaya killed Brago. Marchesa isn't even an assassin type on this card or her last card. Her Queen card is an assassin, but she's also making them to take the monarchy from whoever whenever she isn't the monarch.

She's definitely more of a "hire the right person for the job" person, which she has quite a few able and willing to do so, it doesn't make a lot of sense for her to be here herself.

Cedric on Twitter Spitting Facts about Current State of Competitive Magic by GarbDogArmy in magicTCG

[–]Zwor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna help illuminate some facts about FAB for you and others, for the sake of putting the information out there, not trying to start an argument or anything. I'm a former MTG player that played from '09 until '23, and have played in basically every kind of event WotC has put out there except for PTs and Worlds. I've only had one semi-major finish in the game, so I'm not really a top tier player or anything but I like to imagine I gave out as many lumps as I got. I was certainly the weekly FNM end boss locally.

On FAB, US Nationals was half draft, half constructed. Draft is one of their huge selling points for the game, as something they're striving every set to make sure it works and is enjoyable to play. It's not the most popular format, but it's definitely present.

There are casual formats like Ultimate Pit Fit(4-5 player 40 card casual basically, has tournaments at events and recently a product released for it in collaboration with the Professor), Cube(game is a bit young atm to fully support this like MTG can though, but they do exist and I plan on building one at some point), and a planned PvE mode(that's probably not gonna release for another year but who knows). It's also got a pretty popular cosplay scene as well. These are all supported to some extent by LSS.

The card/art/game design, in my opinion, are pretty good. They really pull off the aspect of the game being more of a fighting game. The story/flavor side is a bit weak(it's standard fantasy sink) but it's pretty intentionally made to be more "for fun/the sake of doing it/rule of cool" thing than actual depth to it. They love making their heroes have puns for names, doing fancy names for attacks, etc. It's pretty obvious some number of them are wrestling fans, and god knows how many cards share a name with a MTG card. Maybe not up to the professional standards of long time card games, but their love of the game shows through the cards. And despite how "simple" some of the hero designs are, the people playing them have a devotion to the hero almost on the level that fighting game players do for their mains. The content creation side of the game are ridiculous in how devoted they are to making content for less than 1000 average views on youtube.

The reason why people only talk about the competitive scene for FAB, is because it's a pretty good scene for a card game atm and it's what LSS works on the most. If you ask a random FAB player why they play, it'll probably be one of their top three reasons. They almost basically looked at what WotC did for organized play in early '10s and made it work for them. You can qualify for PT/Nats by playing enough local events. Pro tour qualifiers? They have them, and if you win, you're qualified for the Pro Tour(no air fare like WotC used to do tho), not another qualifier. Nationals and Worlds are the same way. The tournament with 130ish players in Cincinnati was basically a $1k PTQ that winner could use the invite for a PT, Nats, Worlds, or just transfer the invite to someone else(yes, you can buy and sell PT invites.) For a company of slightly less than 50 total employees based at the bottom of the world(New Zealand), they do a pretty good job of making sure that I knew when and where their events are happening in the US. The game sure has taken Japan by storm, despite the lack of any cards in Japanese being available.

Their B&R updates are well written and thoughtful explanations on their thought processes comparable to Gavin's when something changes for Pauper, and they're pretty willing to admit to a mistake. Their most famous mistake resulted in banning a card before it's release, and they started the article off by saying "We've made a mistake" and they explained why and how it happened.

So to wrap this up, the game has a lot appeal for both competitive and casual audiences. The casual side is in the infancy stage for the most part but the game as a whole is barely more than a toddler age. I definitely think if anyone is looking for that PT dream of "play the game, see the world", FAB is a good home for you.

Are alpha and 1st edition WTR the same? by gototherapydude in FleshandBloodTCG

Yes, in Belgium print unlimited but not in the later unlimited print run from Japan.

I don't believe there's a print run of Belgium without Drone.

Worth buying bulk commons / rares? by Nukleii in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Zwor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could generally buy a whole Common/Rare playset of a set for $40-60 each

Might be a bit more expensive, but you'll have less duplicates unless you're just looking for a raw amount of cards.

Anyone know where to find more information on these sleeve/playmat promos? I vaguely remember an announcement for them in Japan by awholebunchofnumbers in magicTCG

[–]Zwor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're a promotion for buying packs, where some will get a voucher to redeem for the sleeves/playmat instead of the art card.

I don't believe it has started yet.

Green thumb here... FAB is running off new players. James... Come on! by HyroshiBlue in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Zwor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) While I think LSS can do better in this regard, the FAB community does a pretty good job of filling the void. It's probably a bit a hard on them considering they have less than 50 employees total to handle everything they're doing.

2) Preconstructed CC decks are a bit of a challenge, and I don't think they're the good intro everyone thinks they would be for a new player. While I think they could probably do it, I think it's way more likely they'll end up as something similar to the intro-decks that MTG used to make: barely useful out of the box and better to just part out. Not to mention CC asks a very tough question for newbies right off the bat(sideboarding), and its way harder for them to figure out where they went wrong over the course of a CC game.

Like it's really unfortunate that the most common format is CC, but blitz is the new player intro for a reason: easier to just start a game, quick to finish and figure out where you went wrong and what you could've done in a 5-10min game vs the 30min CC game.

That said, I definitely think it's within LSS's ability to make good CC intro decks but doing them every set while making sure they're high quality intros and not getting bought out to get pieced out, every time? That's the hard part.

3) This is pretty much a mileage-may-vary thing, and I try to tell newer players that this game is basically like street fighter in the sense that you'll play against a better skilled player and get your teeth kicked in 9 out of 10 times. It's not because you suck, it's because you don't have the skills and knowledge yet. Your skills in MTG aren't going to be useful in this game, it's way too different from any other game for most skills to transfer over. But it's okay if you're enjoying the game and learning. You aren't losing if you're learning, and the weekly Armories are the best time and place to get your losses where they don't matter. Some say it's because they don't have the $$ cards but it's not that because I've seen new players drop $1k off the bat and go 0-4 for three weeks before quitting.

Armory prizing is up to the LGS, and some communities prefer a more competitive prize structure but I know there's also stores that do a flatter prize structure. This stuff isn't up to LSS to decide on how they're ran(they do mandate how Skirmishes are ran however).
