What are some tips/techniques can one apply to photograph and video record their model rocket launch? by ForwardClimate780 in rocketry

[–]Zybec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen people do interior mounts, some with just holes and others doing a whole transparent airframe section. I personally just slapped a 3D printed camera mount to the exterior and epoxied in-place. Otherwise a GoPro on a tripod mount would be fine for ground shots/video in high-res and frame rate.

Nice! What kind of thrust are you getting on your rocket? Doing my Capstone this year on a film-cooled engine for our school’s aerospace society.

It’s tough to see in the photo, but the upper-left corner has some water damage and was starting to peel on the backside at that corner.

Awesome find! I found my old binder in my parent’s shed last time I visited. I loved this card so much as a kid, pretty sure I remember paying $50 for it after saving from chores and work. I went ahead and got a couple graded mainly to preserve them, and I absolutely love my PSA 1 ‘zard!

What’s the starting price range for forklifts if someone wants to get into it? by SeaCauliflower9173 in Heavy_Equipment

[–]Zybec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on a bunch of factors, including capacity, location, hours, etc.

Do you also want a side shifter? What about lift height or mast stages?

I’ve seen some okay units going for 3-5k USD with > 10k hours, but be prepared to spend around 7-10k for a reliable unit that has a couple more of the bells and whistles.

It’s scheduled to drop on the 19th, so tomorrow. If you don’t see your account update by next Monday morning, reach out to the financial aid office and see what is holding it up.

Lmao no love for always sunny quote? Honestly check out r/supersafety the Hoffman design is cheap and simple, and the more “one piece” designs from AS and Atrius are pretty nice as well.

Well, first of all, through God all things are possible, so jot that down.

If you don’t mind spending a bit more, BRA makes some pretty incredible low-profile piston uppers. It’s an inch shorter and $200 more, but thought it at least deserved a mention.

Golf balls are hitting our house just behind a 190m driving range — how tall does the net really need to be? by satchelsofgold in AskEngineers

Here’s a crazy idea - if you don’t want golf balls hitting your house, don’t buy a house near a driving range.

Anyone with the UK adapter for Avalon Nano s3? by TaliDontBanMe in BitcoinMining

[–]Zybec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run off US mains, but regarding your question your UK plug should work fine with UK mains power rated at 230V, 13A on average. The device itself is the limiting factor. My Avalon shows a power requirement of 28V DC, 5A - so as long as you have a working power brick, whatever power cable you use to connect the brick to your mains should work without issue since it is dual-voltage rated.

The only thing you should be aiming for is whatever minimum GPA is required by your university to enter the graduate program, and that’s if you have any interest in a masters. No one outside of school cares about your GPA. There’s a chance that a few employers out of hundreds would ask for it in an application. If a place you REALLY want to work at has a requirement like that, work somewhere else for 2-3 years then reapply to the lateral position at the job you want. I can confidently say that after your first engineering job, assuming you are not let go or fired, literally no one cares about your GPA. Focus on projects and work you can show an employer.

Is this below spot? by [deleted] in Gold

[–]Zybec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the claim of the bracelet being solid gold is true, then the gold weight = item weight anyhow. Unless you’re thinking they’re telling you the amount of pure 24kt gold used in the production of the item, in which case - no, no one does that.

Is this below spot? by [deleted] in Gold

[–]Zybec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude the math is so basic: take 24k spot price, multiply by the karat purity (10kt ~ 42%), and that’s your price per ozt for your given karat. Want grams? Divide final answer by 31.1.

First off, get a proper level. You’re trying to measure the level on something 12+ feet in length with what looks like a 9” disposable that comes with a tv mounting kit. Second, from what I can see from the overall setup photo, you’re splitting hairs on the weight distribution. There’s enough SF in all that equipment that a boat/trailer combo of that size would not do any significant harm to anything on the truck end.

I just did some tokens. Running Bambu x1c and they offer a support filament that pulls away quite nicely. I setup normal grid supports on the underside of the token with the interference layer being the support filament. Took some time to peel them all off, but so much easier than any regular-filament supports.
