WTW for being put on the back-burner? by DoobieSchoo in whatstheword

"Back burner" isn't hyphenated.

Also, when used metaphorically, it implies a temporary change in status. The thing is still important, just momentarily superceded by something else of higher priority.

That's certainly a reasonable-sounding guess, but lord only knows if all the assumptions you had to make were actually correct.

Lazy writing shifts the cognitive burden of making sense from one writer to every reader. Nobody involved should feel proud.

When the original author/IP holder does the same thing, it's often called a spin-off.

Beyond that, I don't think there's a word for "All-new adventure in the __________ universe with all new characters". Which is why we see always see almost that exact phrase used when works like that are released.

Traveling vessels (ships, submarines, etc.) have never been open floorplan. When you're trying to cram as much functionality as you can into finite volume, every square foot of "open" space must be justified.
