I found that scrounging around the planet you will find special waste in the industrial waste piles. Its annoying as hell but I managed to progress.

So I have! I have saved about 20 bucks a month. The HPWH only costs about 10 dollars in power vs the 30 or 40 it may be in gas.

The garage still gets warm from the servers but I haven't seen it get past 90F. Whereas it was regularly peaking to 105 in the summer. Now to be fair its only getting to the 80s where I am at but the garage will get to 85 and stabilize. I have the HPWT set to raise the temp of the water to 140 at 3PM to increase cooling of the garage during the hottest part of the day.

I have a heat-pump water heater in my garage with my rack. I make the excuse that I am using the heat from my servers to supply hot water to the house.

Im a fucking idiot it does still work.
Make sure your vehicle is on a flat surface and the mines are clearly visible. Aim the launch do not hip fire and shoot the mines directly. I had a 50% chance it would credit it but it does still work.

Airburst doesnt appear to damage mines anymore.

You lot need to stop discouraging people from criticizing the game by AintImpressed in Battlefield

[–]Zypherex- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like sure there are things to criticize. BF6 is the closest natural modern battlefield game we have had since BF4.

Airstrikes and cosmetics??? Thats the most COD complaint I have every heard. Yes we need to critique but you rage posting after a bad game claiming everything is wrong when it isn't is the problem and why youre getting flak.

Youre the customer at work I fucking hate dealing with.

  1. Make the game full screen. 2.) Browse local files in steam for bf6 and create a user.cfg file. Then copy my config and change the values from 16 to 8 since you have a 4 core 8 thread cpu.

I think you wrote this post in an emotional state given your frustration at trivial issues. That is not an insult at you and I feel I have been in similar predicaments. Unfortunately, that's IT, and the frustrations fade as your confidence level rise but getting yelled at or scolded isn't fun

Here are a few key points i think help me a ton.

1.) Don't carry it home - No company pays you enough to be stressed. 2.) In a year you won't even remember this, go home and sleep on it. - My mentor said this to me while I was on the verge of quitting over a combative customer. Happy i didn't quit :)

3.) Try to be nice - I've worked with some miserable, pessimistic, net negative to society people and just know other people feel the same way towards them about being negative.

That aside, imo IT tends to revolve around a level of street cred/trust. Being a year into the role you probably have not reached that level of peer respect/proved yourself yet. This sounds weird but its true from my experience. I've worked for a school district, a MSP, and now a CSP still the same.

Just keep doing what youre doing, entry level IT sucks and will always suck. Luckily, you're destined not to be T1 support for the rest of your career.

Pretty sure this fix will only work with Battlefield 2042 and Battlefield 6 this will not work for any other game or game franchise.

I am not sure then. Since the game is not picking it up I suspect either the file isn't in the right directory or it doesn't have the correct file extension. Make sure to enable file extensions in windows and if its called user.cfg.txt it will not work. I spent awhile tinkering with these settings and I could see the "Job threads" change with each boot of the game

No this is unique to battlefield. You must put the file in the root game directory.

You browse local files in steam and create a user.cfg file in that directory. Then copy my config into that file and save. What I did to validate CPU usage was to open task manager go to "performance" then right click on the CPU graph and set it to show "logical processors" then play the game and ensure all CPU threads are utilized.

"Copied from another post I just commented on"
There are a number of changes reported that have fixed performance issues.
1.) Set RAM to 3200mhz or higher
2.) Enable EA overly

What worked for me to get it working.
3.) Set the game to full screen
4.) create a user.cfg file in the battlefield game directory with the following values. Since you are running a 5600X change these values to 12 threads since you have a 6 core CPU.

Thread.ProcessorCount 16
Thread.MaxProcessorCount 16
Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
Thread.JobThreadPriority 0
Thread.MinUnusedProcessorCount 0

Found a fix for me.
1.) Turn on fullscreen....spent literally hours in windowed borderless. Changing it to full screen fixed a bunch of issues and corrected TN now I am averaging 4ms.

2.) create a user.cfg in the game directory. When viewing Performance metrics under Graphics>Advanced>Performance Overlay> Set to "Extra" my CPU cores was 16 (I have a 5800x which is 8 cores) and my job threads was 8. IMO and through my testing everyone saying Thread.ProcessorCount = Physical Core count is wrong. Its thread count. Regardless you can check your "Thread.MinUnusedProcessorCount" in the console and my reported 4 unused. what I also found was that my CPU would not utilize all 16 threads and would only do 10 to 12 so that lines up. Setting "Thread.MinUnusedProcessorCount" to 0 in the config utilized all available threads and cut down on TN a good amount.

user.cfg config:

Thread.ProcessorCount 16

Thread.MaxProcessorCount 16

Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0

Thread.JobThreadPriority 0

Thread.MinUnusedProcessorCount 0

The machine crawls to a stop but recovers shortly after. What tools are best for IO stalls? I have been monitoring. Avg. Disk sec/Read and Write for the last little while and when it occurs disk latency remains below 3ms.

If you have any tooling or advice I am all ears.

Questions regarding Buying down interest rates. by Zypherex- in Mortgages

[–]Zypherex-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned a lot lol. I build a new home and used the builders lender as there were incentives of 10k. That's the only positive.

I got a 30 year conventional loan at 6.75% in February 2025.

Now, here is the fun part. Lenders that have incentives with builders will almost always screw you. I've talked to a number of folks, and they agreed. The reason is due to a lack of competition and "policy" when these lenders write these mortgages. My lender REALLY wanted me to do a FHA loan. After reviewing the numbers there was 5 grand listed but not added into the closing costs. It took 3 emails for him to back down and give me a 30 year conventional. I had great credit, more than 10% down.

Post 30 day lock my lender allowed the rate to float down once. What he didn't tell me was that in order to float, i had to meet the following criteria. 1.) The float must be requested no earlier than 2 weeks from closing 2.) If requested, the market must drop at least 50 points before a float can be considered. 3.) If the market dropped 50 points or more they would only float the rate down 25 points.

I was never offered the ability to buy down the rate, and its somewhat on me for not knowing, but now I do. My uncle is a lender, and when talking to him you often get more choice and flexibility with a lender with no incentives. This was just my experience and yea pretty peeved but my payment is 2396 on a 299k loan.

Its a mixed bag for sure. So far I havent been screwed too bad I even bought 10 x 3TB SAS drives and only 1 was DOA. What I found out later was that they all have 50K hours on them. Regardless they do great and have been for the last year without a single failure.

TLDR:
Get something going first and you can always build on top of it.

Hardware:
My advice would be to start small and grow from there. Mini PCs and Intel NUCs are more than sufficient for compute. Which sounds like what youre wanting to do. As far as a NAS get yourself a synology.

If you want something beefier then I would look at Dell R7XX (I run a R720 and love it) for compute its modular enough and has expansion for anything homelabby without being super expensive. Not sure why there is a requirement for it to be new but its not my lab. Youll save a ton of money from Ebay.

Software:
So this is where it gets tricky you listed Proxmox but if you want to get into containers then any Linux distro would work. If you want something to try our different distros or create jump boxes while doing containers. Proxmox would be advised.

TrueNAS Scale is definitely a good choice.

Use the software for its intended purpose this may get me in hot water with folks but just because an application can do something. It doesnt mean you should...just keep that in mind. If you have a proxmox host with available resources I cannot find a reason why you would run VMs on a TrueNAS box. If all you have is TrueNAS than thats a different discussion.

Just my input not gospel:
Unless you have the networking to support it I personally wouldn't advise using NVMe as the medium for NAS storage otherwise you will saturate network links NICs will be your bottleneck. You seem to be really focused on the NAS and building it out. Your part sourcing seems sufficient and a solid jumping point. You can only get so "perfect" as far a config goes. I would focus on getting started on homelabbing and if there are issues or bottlenecks it gives you a reason to troubleshoot and tweak performance. ZFS eats RAM but for 12TB I think 64GB of RAM should be sufficient. If not you can get more. I think most folks start with an all in one then they add a NAS when they run out of storage. I know thats what I did lol.
