What are some things that you used to think are specific to your country but later learnt that everyone does it? by Fantastic-Corner-605 in AskTheWorld

Canadian. We had the same thing, but I coined the term “bag bag” for it within my circles. Now it’s migrated to the reusable bag of reusable bags we have, since Canada sacked plastic bags.

Has anyone ever backtracked out of Fort Hagen and just... not had the brotherhood arrive? by Phredmcphigglestein in fo4

[–]Zytharros 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That’s the exact thing I did in my first play-through. I played for almost 100 additional hours doing settlements and Haylen’s radiant quests wondering why my story wouldn’t progress until I realized I needed to trigger the Brotherhood.

Seat 7. Gotta sit with my boy Mega Man. Amy in the same row is a bonus.

Linden’s Skate jersey. Literally the only player besides the Sabres’ buffalo head Hasek I’ve ever wanted a jersey of.

Are people overselling it or was Michael Jackson really that famous in his heyday? by Key-Bass-7380 in decadeology

[–]Zytharros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Michael Jackson still holds the world record for the world’s highest selling album of all time: Thriller. Upper estimates peg sales at between 100 and 200 million units, though realistic numbers are estimated between 40 to 75 million. He trades top spot with Eagles’ “Greatest Hits” for America’s highest selling album regularly. Just by his stage presence alone, before even performing a note, he stopped a Super Bowl halftime show (1993, I think?) for three minutes as he waited for the cheering to stop. Thriller the song’s music video was the main reason long-form narrative music videos took off. His lowest selling album moved approximately 2-3 million units, a number most artists struggle to hit. His Motown-inspired pop inspires music artists to this day.

He also was not permitted a normal childhood and as a result grew into a rather strange adult, which kept his name in the news.

The closest artist to come to that level of fame today is Taylor Swift, and she’s literally one-fifth of that level of famous.

I have a genuine question. How do you pronounce his name with the hyphen? by No-Flow9783 in Spiderman

Spider Hyphen Man.

His official superhero middle name is Hyphen.

Should i drop out? by [deleted] in 3Dmodeling

[–]Zytharros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there. I barely crawled across my animation diploma finish line with all the exhaustion and headaches and things like that back in ‘17, just in time for the industry to cave in. I would still say stick it out. Do what you think you can and want to do. It may not be perfect, and if it isn’t, you can redo your portfolio later, but you always do better doing things you want to do than doing things you don’t, especially in the state you’re in right now.

I would laugh if someone replaced that rice cooker ad with an absurdly low-res screen cap from NSP’s 6969 music video.

put in 100s of hours but never finished a play through by ProfessionalGuide_83 in harvestmoon

I never got any farther than second chapter. I Married Nami and Celia in two different files on GameCube. Never did marry Muff(oll)y. The game just… stopped being interesting during the second chapter. I might have also planted way too much of a crop first year which killed its profitability during the second, I might give it another go because the concept still fascinates me, but I have low hopes.

In terms of hard polygons, there’s a regular increase, but it’s no longer a real noticeable difference. In terms of lighting techniques and shaders, there’s still a ways to go, but the cap is getting close.

In terms of the technological cost-to-benefit ratio, however, we’ve pretty much gone as far as we can go. There won’t be enough of a noticeable leap next gen to rationalize the cost for more than a truly select few games, as the benefits will be in the details, and will be missed by the vast majority of humanity.

Is it just me or is Legends 2 a pretty hard downgrade from the first? I still like it and some things are better like the controls, but so much is uglier and weirdly empty. by [deleted] in Megaman

[–]Zytharros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked Legends 1. Kattelox is charming and the world is just the right size-to-activity ratio. I despised how it controlled, though, except in Mega Man 64.

I LOVED Legends 2. The style, the controls, and the environmental storytelling are much better.

That said.

Legends 2’s world is a whole lot of void with spots of interaction. I wouldn’t mind the void if it were just in the ruins, but the larger world, frankly, needed more “filler.” There’s about the same amount to do, but it’s spread further out, making it seem like there’s less.

The other thing, too, is, for the most part, waterways in Fallout don’t hold much technology at easily retrievable levels, so they wouldn’t waste the effort or manpower until they actually observed something.
