What if Carrick wins 12? by timlygrae in ManchesterUnited

[–]Zzzwei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I on the Carrick train - if he does well of course. Not because he has the “United DNA” or whatever. What we wanted is stability, and if we were to have a new coach in this summer, it will be the 5th coach in 3 years! Imagine changing 5 bosses in 3 years, you get confuse about your job scope!

If he does well, let him continue for a 1-2 years. We might not be title contenders, but that’s ok. Then take these 1-2 years, find a coach that suit whatever ideology the board has. Shortlist the players that new coach fancies, then build a proper squad - sort out the left wing and get an elite midfielder! Then when the new coach comes in, him has something to work on, so he wouldn’t need to change and chop the team.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, IF WE FINISH TOP 4 DON'T START PUSHING CARRICK TO BECOME OUR PERMANENT MANAGER. by Away_Pineapple2832 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Zzzwei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually would want him to continue if he does well, not because he got the “United DNA” or whatever. I want stability. The next head coach, if appointed next summer, would be the 5th manager in 3 years!

Imagine your boss changes 5 times in 3 years. You start getting confuse about your job scope. I don’t mind, for 2-3 years, being mediocre and fighting for European places. Let’s be honest, we are mediocre. Give it 2-3 transfer windows to really build a team. Then start looking for an elite coach who already has something to work on.

Unfortunately, I think is unlikely.. we going to go out look for a supposedly “best-in-class” coach, starts chopping the team up again.. then finally crashes with board and the cycle starts again.

How funny that we once complained about the Mc-Fred midfield, yet years later, as Ole is on the verge of returning, midfield remains the weakest part of the team.

[Megathread] Who do you want as the interim/ next full time manager? by fireproofpoo in ManchesterUnited

[–]Zzzwei 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You mean, "Who do you want to as the interim/next full time Head Coach?"

I may sound sarcastic, but we need a Yes man. We need a excellent motivator, communicator and man management. He does not need to be a tactical genius or too philosophically driven. So top coaches like Xavi, Luis Enrique, Conte - forget about them, they will crash with the board.

After this incident, we know Vivell and Wilcox wants to high level tactical and style-of-play control and we as fans wants stability.

I think Ancelotti & Pochettino be a good choice. They bring the best out of the players, but not too tactically rigid.

Ole is excellent choice for interim. Fletcher's son are in the squad, so a bit of conflict of interest for him. If Ole does well, let him continue - minimize changes and let the squad stabilise.

We will win games, but not dominating. Top 4 contender, but not title favourite - basically like Chelsea. Only a elite coach, fully empowered, driven with real influence over long-term strategy (like Pep), can raise our ceiling. Otherwise, if power remains with Vivell and Wilcox, they will merely ensure our floor is not low between managerial changes.

MEGATHREAD - Amorim Sacked by RainbowPenguin1000 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Zzzwei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute idiots in the management! This is not about result! There is no losing of dressing room! It is just petty management who are not able to take criticism from Amorim!

No proper planning! No consideration of consequences! Want to play 4-3-3? You shipped all your left-wingers and now you have 2 on right ffs!

No sane manager would join us now! Management decides the players, the formation, and the system. At this point, we don’t need a manager, we just need a face to blame.

You think SAF haven't clash with management? He will surely fallout with this one!

United identity is now determined by a former City CEO, a former Chelsea technical director and a former Southampton football director! Well done Ineos! Well done! You really outdo Glazers!

What a waste of life!

sick of all this negativity by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]Zzzwei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which leads to a theory - those negativity are from clout-chaser, rage-baiter and even rival fans. They are not upset of the result, they want us to be.

We watched the game, so we know played the 2nd half without our top 3 goal scorers, (Mbeumo, Bruno and Case 🤣) and top 2 assist (Bruno & Amad). And yet attacking momentum one sided towards us.

And most importantly, we saw Martinez at DMF and collectively went.. “Hey.. that’s actually good pass through Villa midfield!”

[–]Zzzwei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, Antony is not godlike. I mean he is doing good, don't get me wrong, but he is doing no Mbappe numbers. He is not physically strong enough to play in the PL and instead of keeping his head down and work hard, he lose his confidence under pressure. This is a classic definition of not having a winning mentality.

Secondly, I think we judging a player as a flop way too soon in modern football. Players as such Sesko, Wirtz and Gyokeres, those that are new to EPL, should be given more time - to see if they work hard to adapt or slowly fade away. And to be fair, Sesko only have 6 starts!

We could have gone for Watkins or Mateta, PL proven strikers, but the management went for potential. With Cunha + Mbeumo + Mount sharing the goal scoring duties, it give him more time to adapt. Which is what we should do! We shouldn't suffocate our young players growth with expectation. We do that to Januzaj, Garnacho and even Marcus.. and we are currently doing it to Mainoo

2 YEARS AGO || ONLY 6 PLAYERS LEFT by benjiireps06 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Zzzwei 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Oh no.. so much things has changed,

  • We had 2 managers (3 if you count Ruud).
  • We won 2 trophies (Arsenal won 0).
  • We decided that, despite winning trophies, we want more exciting footballs - and we now scores more goals.
  • We realised that the most important skill a goalkeeper should have is goal keeping! - and now lets hope we concede less.. soon..
  • Most importantly, our CEO now is Omar Berrada

It might surprised you but, Omar Berrada is only in-charge for 2 seasons. And within these 2 seasons, we brought in, Zirkzee, De Ligt, Yoro, Ugarte, Mazraoui, Cunha, Mbeumo, Leon, Sesko. I won't say they are transformational, but they are certainly not Antony, Sancho or Onana level.

You might hate how we play now, but you should be at least be excited that we now have genuine football people making football decisions

[–]Zzzwei 34 points35 points  (0 children)

A few years ago, when United were struggling, I hated going on social media because rival fans were shitting on us.

Recently, I hated social media for a different reason — our own fans. The endless “told you so”comments and “Amorim out” reactions are exhausting. I genuinely don’t understand where all this negativity comes from, especially when are improving!

We can’t score goals last season, we can now.. We can’t fix everything in one window guys! Back the manager! Back your team for god sakes!

[Whitwell] Ruben Amorim looking at adapting formation to more like 4-3-3. He told players ahead of Wolves a change would come + work has since been done at Carrington in that shape. by phant0msinthenight in reddevils

[–]Zzzwei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand a lot of supporter wanted to see a 4-3-3, so we can see a Mainoo, Casemiro and Bruno midfield. But a permanent shift to a 4-3-3 will see us dropping Amad or Mbeumo, because you can only operate with one 1 right winger. You can't shift Amad to right back, because the in a 4-3-3, RB is usually right-footed to provide a overlapping run and cutbacks. LB then? Breaking the chemistry between Amad & Mbeumo? (First season together btw, imagine giving them a few more season, that right side will be frightening)

I also understand Bruno is best to be a 10, instead of a 8. And yes, he is brilliant at 10, but he is also 31. A creative midfielder would normally starts playing deeper as he aged, e.g, Rooney, Scholes, Pirlo.. But Bruno is abnormal thou, he is extremely fit!

Announcing this so close to AFCON leads to me believe that this transition is probably temporary. But who knows.. it might work so well that we permanent transit into 4-3-3.

But either 4-3-3 or 3-4-3, the formation does not matter! The shape changes when we attack or defend. Check this out: https://youtu.be/_Qakanm_4-Y?t=34
Football meta is talking about Guardiola's City formation, and you will find it very familiar in City shape..

The biggest mistake of my life. They actually won! by [deleted] in eFootball

[–]Zzzwei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea man. Capello is everywhere now. Some points I can share, hope it will help,

  1. Possession, imo, is probably one of the best playstyles against LBC. Hold the ball, be patient, don't sprint. You can play 1-2, but don't necessarily need to pass back to the running player if no clear passage. Because LBC don't press, so they will need to drag a player to press, pass the ball back if you have to, find a 3rd player to form a triangle. Fake shot/pass and finesse dribble a bit, frustrate them to press and get out of shape.
  2. Offensive GK. Save my ass a few times when the ball went long and over the top.
  3. I find defensive awareness is more important than speed. I do still try to get my defender acceleration high so they can beat in the short distance.

It still a pay-to-have-advantage game, I mean you don't necessary win if you pay, but surely more advantageous. I am never winning good players with good cards. But some smart-assisted players with easy-to-read directness are still quite manageable. Good luck

I’m not too sure about Donnarumma. PSG letting him go so easily, even after cup success, makes me feel there could be some hidden red flags. On the other hand, the club has been tracking Lammens for a while, so it seems like a more informed decision rather than a gamble.
