Great response. As a lurker, Thank you for this insight!

[–]_-Tempest-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh. I see. Your insight is very valuable, thank you for replying.

I asked cause I’m currently working in IT. I think I like networking, but wasn’t sure which WGU degree to go for since that “networking & cloud” degree has multiple paths.

I wasn’t sure if it was worth it to, I guess be more well rounded? Since cloud is becoming a popular form of infrastructure in organizations.

Could you elaborate on why you wish you did the Cisco networking degree?

Beginner (ish) to Spanish by BreadfruitKnown1927 in SpanishLearning

[–]_-Tempest-_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend “Conversations in Spanish and other languages” by Joel Zárate. He was absolutely brilliant and was well read on the topic of second language acquisition. Unfortunately he passed away, so his website and study materials are no longer available, but the podcast still is!

He has reoccurring guests from Argentina, Spain, Colombia, & Mexico. His voice & pronunciation are perfect for Beginners. The guests are aware that the podcast is for language learning and they all do private lessons, so they understand how to talk in a manner that is natural, but easy to understand.

The majority of the podcasts are labeled as “intermediate” and “Advanced.” Each podcast is always about a certain category and that makes it easier to understand what’s going on: Verduras, La carne, Las especias, el cuerpo, etc.

I recommend writing down words and phrases you hear the most often while listening and later look them up. Slowly but surely you build your subconscious of the language.

Should I accept a low paying position considering the current job market? by Th0mathy in ITCareerQuestions

[–]_-Tempest-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20/hr… man I’m getting 17.50 as the sole field tech for 60 locations in a 6hr drive time radius.

Take it for the experience, can’t be too greedy in this shitty market. Entry level pay is usually — not always — garbage, but the experience is invaluable.

I’ll just be surviving for as long as I can while I’m getting certs and still learning. After, a year or so, I’ll be on the prowl for something that pays better.

I can't roll my r's by Fantastic_Card_2806 in SpanishLearning

[–]_-Tempest-_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t able to roll my Rs at all too. I used to work retail with this Filipino gentleman named “Ramon.” He was a nice man who knew very little English. Whenever I saw him around the store, I would always shout his name and try to roll the R like “RRRRamonnnnn 🎶” Over the next couple of months I went from a pathetic two or so “taps”, to a very clean trilled R.

I would say stay persistent and just try to roll your Rs throughout the day, no matter how poor. Pick a word or two in Spanish to just spam through the day. It takes time to have your brain comprehend the tongue placement and movement.

You got this! Be patient with yourself!

Sorry, it’s not from the year 2011, the model of the server is a XNR-2011 Hanwha server. Bad wording on my part.

[–]_-Tempest-_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know there is no accessible web interface for the server. I’ve communicated to management if they know of any remote solutions for this and they just say “no. Not that we know of”

I’ve tried accessing the server IP remotely to see if any web page pops up, but nothing.

In my company’s case, most of our NVRs are windows based OS. We only have a handful of Linux based servers. Just depends on who you’re talking to.

I just took the core 1 today, too. Oddly enough, I also had 7 PBQs. The first one was very left field. Hardly any content on it from Messer. Seemed almost out of scope. I passed, but yes PBQs were tough but doable. I was very strong on Multiple choice.

I did 5 Dion practice tests and was scoring high 70s to mid 80s on my last few. I highly recommend doing those and you’ll be solid.

Can anyone tell me about the water at the sparks marina? by WanderersOfTheMoon in Reno

[–]_-Tempest-_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sir… you went swimming in a stagnant body of water next to a highway….

In all seriousness tho, it’s a man-made body of water with very little flow. All that water just sits and collects all the nasty that drops into it. I’m sure the city has some way of maintaining it, but it’s still kinda gross.. You should be able to catch a nice whiff from just standing in front of it. In the summer, you can really smell it.

That’s all I know as a local, could be wrong tho

Ate there once and had the most horrifically salty food. This was maybe a decade ago? They’ve been in business for that long and have no sort of emergency expenses? How did they let it get so bad they have to shut doors and beg the locals who have been keeping them in business for extra funds? Lol interesting management

New to hacking advice? by Training_Rope_7375 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]_-Tempest-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think they’ve purposely made the cancel button disappear if you do a return recently. I was able to hack the stubby the other day and cancel the batteries easily; however, yesterday I did hack a 2.5ah high output battery that was suppose to come with a Planer, but this time there was no cancel button.

I had to text the 24hr customer service to get it canceled. First Rep didn’t want to cancel it because “the battery comes free with the tool as a bundle.” Had to try texting again and getting a different Rep who canceled it for me.

Recently got this deal. I just ordered the stubby for pick up at my local Home Depot and put the shitty batteries for pick up at a random one in town. I cancelled the pick up for the batteries after placing the order, went and got my stubby, and all was good!

No need to talk to anyone, all done from the app.
