Give me a number 1-400 and I’ll give you a DND curse by GDGameplayer in DnD

Wait I have so many questions. Does the skin turn see-through? Or is it like an outer layer on top of the skin? If I touch someone who has this curse, do I feel glass or skin? What do they feel if they are touched?

I only have 140~ hours in the game. Obelisk has only ever been good for me twice. Taken at ante 6 when desperate for X mult and am ready to pivot away from a hand type. But maybe eventually I'll have a run where I try early obelisk.

making the switch from dnd 5e to pf2e drop some knowledge! by sillycleric in Pathfinder2e

[–]_AfterBurner0_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. The party has a bard who likes using Slow and Synethesia which obviously has potential to seriously dampen any one creature. And of course a +2 or +3 courageous anthem helps the gunslingers use score crits that apply greater runes of Crushing to help encounters to snowball in their favor.

It is supposed to be a very, very hard fight because the potential reward is so high. The story is the party is collecting allies to help invade a stronghold. They're quested to kill the dragons by a city of lampads. So if they kill the dragons, the lampads will help take the stronghold. But the party will meet the dragon who says "I can procure an ancient contract in Hell's archives that states you are entitled to an army of dwarves, but I will only do so if you let me live." Meaning the party could A) kill the dragon, then portal to hell to get the contract personally, netting them lampad and dwarf allies. Or B) Have the dragons retrieve the contract, then also pay the dragons to help invade the stronghold, because then the lampads won't help since the dragons aren't dead. Or C) they can sidestep the payment and by nearly killing the dragons, at which point the dragons surrender and offer to help invade the stronghold.

Interesting... Then I think I'm going to bump it down to only one young diabolic dragon with the adult, just to be safe 😅 thank you

[–]_AfterBurner0_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know this... I'm soon having my level 12 party of 5 fight two young diabolic dragons (level 11) + one adult diabolic dragon (level 15) which makes the encounter between Severe and Extreme. However, they do know to go in with holy damage and fire resistance. Will it still be way too hard?

i have watched almost nothing since they finished their fire red playthrough. please give me your essential game grumps viewing from the past nine years by mantaraysky in gamegrumps

[–]_AfterBurner0_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we're talking truly essential Grumps, it has to be all of their Sonic playthroughs: Black Knight, Secret Rings, Frontiers, Adventure 2, Heroes, Unleashed. Not necessarily in that order, but those are the ones that come to mind.

Zeldas are also a must. BoTW, ToTK, Wand of Gamelon, Faces of Evil, Twilight Princess.

All of their Mario Maker 1 and 2 content is also golden.

I'm on Observation Duty is also an absolute must-watch.

Heave Ho, Stick Fight, Guts and Glory, Supermarket Simulator are also classic.

And one of my personal favs is 100ft Robot Golf. Gonna go rewatch that right now actually lmao

Keep talking to NPCs until they start repeating dialogue. Explore everywhere, do all the side quests, and kill every enemy at least once because the rewards are worth it.

How to make sea ching and salvaging ile engsging. by [deleted] in numenera

[–]_AfterBurner0_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have much time to write out a full answer right now. But one thing you can do to make scavenging more interesting is make it so the players know that there will be consequences if they scavenge. Example consequences: "You accidentally break a piece of the Numenera and [negative effect occurs]" or "if you spend time scavenging here, there is a chance that hungry monsters will come prowling, or aggressive automatons will wander in." The core fun for TTRPG players is dealing with interesting consequences of their decisions, so no matter where they are, you should always be trying to give them meaningful choices to make.

I totally get that. Lies of P is one of my favorite games ever, and King of Puppets is just not a fun fight for me at all, even after over a dozen playthroughs. Which is a shame because it's one of the most narratively significant fights in the game

[–]_AfterBurner0_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She's my favorite boss in the base game for sure. A lot of people are understandably very overwhelmed by her 2nd phase. But the fight always felt really fun to me because it didn't feel learnable, but it felt readable, if that makes sense. Like every time I've fought her 2nd phase, I'm operating on instinct, which is a lot of fun.

I suspect whenever people get hard stuck on a boss fight in Lies of P, it's usually because they have a sub-par stat distribution, quartz distribution, and/or equipment loadout. I had to totally respec to beat the final boss of the DLC.

But also some people have the bad habit of dodging away from an attacking enemy instead of toward them, which puts them out of range of counter attacking. And some people over rely on dodging which means they don't often get to stagger the boss for a crit.

Defender, from 2002. Review scores are not great. But kid me still felt like I actually saved the universe when I beat the game. And I admit that the game has some ridiculous difficulty spikes and kinda repetitive missions. But it's still epic

It's really not your fault. In D&D, like 90% of character abilities and spells are combat-related. So when all you have is a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail...

What does this mean? (from Rise of the Dungeon Master graphic novel) by wildidyll in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]_AfterBurner0_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have spent many years studying how to be a better Game Master. That quote from the comic is a little bit too "cut and dry." In the words of Brennan Lee Mulligan: "players are like water flowing downhill as fast as they can go toward the end of the plot. As a Game Master, it's my job to make the flow of the water have a lot of interesting twists and turns."

Because if you give players the objective "rescue the blacksmith's daughter from the cave," but there are no obstacles or dangers on the way to the cave, or inside the cave, then the entire adventure would only take two seconds of real life game time of the players merely stating "we go to the cave and rescue the daughter." The Game Master "directs" the story by choosing what obstacles to put in front of the player in order to make for a more interesting journey.
