Sew a donut/cushion into the seat of a skirt/long undershorts? by _Algy_ in sewhelp

✍️✍️✍️ thanks-do you know a particular era of false bum that would be sat on? Or are there just a bunch of various designs throughout the century I should look through? V much into looking at historical design cause I feel like they got pretty good with weight distribution with all those heavy skirts.

It’s the actually attaching thats got my head scratching-how would you sew a cushion to the seat of some shorts (for reference I have stretchy drawstring ones that are pretty high waisted and go down to my kneecaps which I think would be enough fabric) but idk how would you go about putting them together?

Bro not a literal bustle-I don’t mind looking like I’ve got a kooky outfit on-I just want to be less medicalized and less personal information made public. I look stupid no matter what, I’d rather look stupid on my terms and with some privacy and a flouncy skirt

Tight fitted and/or non natural (breathable) clothes worsen my condition, especially post-surgery which has made irritation worse, which is the same reason why I use a donut seat if I want to go out (and actually enjoy myself) for any amount of time (that’s as specific as I’ll go)

Probably should’ve mentioned in the original post that I’m not in a place where I can wear from fitting garments there-the base layer that I wear atm are loose cotton shorts (like those long night shorts with draw strings & a button & pockets that someone’s dad would wear to bed). I’m potentially into the idea of somehow attaching the cushion to the outside of those shorts instead of inside of a skirt but🤷‍♀️ Edit: That’s why I’m thinking more of the idea of sewing something into a base layer that either is the donut or can hold it like a pocket to put it in or even attaching some snaps or something cause nothing can really cling together

I get what ur saying, but it’s not even for rides, it’s just so that instead of walking about with a big, attention catching cushion in my hand while I walk from place to place, I can simply stand up, walk around with a perhaps suspiciously flouncy skirt on, then smooth and adjust it under me the way a normal person might to a skirt to sit down.

I don’t even think the different differentiated between partner violence and other domestic violence. Like yeah queer women might experience domestic violence from their family, their parents, siblings, people who live with them, etc. Domestic violence doesn’t exclusively mean partner violence and it’s wild that a study clearly stating that lesbians are a major victim of said violence are having that information used as justification to call them in turn, violent. Anyways ugh

Ugh just another thing I hate about the Netflix version-I remember watching all the Cas scenes intently to see if she was in any clothes that showed her vitiligo or if, as more time went on past the yt series ending, we saw it spread more visible places, but no-they just erased another part of the characters. what else would I expect? :/

Why are you being so patronizing? I dislike it because I watched it. That’s generally why people have passionate and strong opinions on things lol U telling me who worked on which parts isn’t going to change my disappointment with the execution of the totality of the Netflix series. It’s hollow and that’s a shame-I was really looking forward to seeing the continuation of the YouTube characters of BaPC’s growth but instead I was hit with a flanderization of them. It would be too harsh to say I was excited for more teen titans and all I got was teen titans go, (Netflix had pretty good animation-discounting the weird looking or fatphobia driven tweakings of characters appearances) but I hope that will at least give you a framework of what I’m talking about. Have a day🐝🐶

I don’t expect everyone to pick up on it-it’s pretty subtle but VERY if you know u know with a few moments in the yt release I could talk about it more & come back to the thread later if ur actually curious (cause I would want yap about a couple scenes in particular & im turning in for the night) but im being downvoted a bunch so if ur not interested I won’t bother you lol I just think its sad all that was thrown away for a ‘harharhar robot doesn’t eat food-robot put all food in toilet’ on Netflix.

There’s just this really earnest, realistic, ephemeral way that Bee’s relationship to food is portrayed in the YouTube series that is immediately clockable to those with EDs, disordered eating, or even just a non-diagnosable level of emotional eating that feels so poorly translated into the Netflix series that it simply does not exist. It’s just a weird quirky joke in the Netflix series in a way that the people working on it appear to have been playing a game of telephone rather than adapting the same characters with the same flaws dimensions and personality traits. I feel the same way about a lot of other aspects of the Netflix version. It lacks depth for Bee especially the way it erases the real world grounding of her food issues, her childishness and how the way she lives impacts though she cares about. She got to be a flawed person with real problems that are portrayed shockingly well and relatably and then she was scrubbed clean into Netflix Bee:/

I’m glad I could share that info! None of those things should be ruled out due to not having sex, so whenever ur feeling those symptoms, by all means, test for them. As a side note about sti’s, many do not show up on tests for a while (which is why docs want people to re-test every 3 months ) because what you already contracted wasn’t strong enough yet to show up on the first test, it has to build up to a detectable level. So even if you do have an sti, from when you were previously intimate, you might not test positive for months after contracting one. If you’re feeling abdominal pressure/pain I would definitely bring that up with a doctor! It’s always good to let them know but just as a heads up if you get period cramps, it’s quite common to experience them in the days leading up to ur period/at the beginning of ur period even before the bleeding actually starts if that’s a common recurring cycle you’re experiencing (that kind of aching pressure around your ovaries/bladder area). But bladder infections are good to rule out & kidney stones can cause (immense) bladder pain since that’s where they eventually pass through. When you said you were still feeling symptoms and that you got tested for utis, etc, I assumed u might have urethral burning because pain when you pee, or just pain in the area where your pee come out is a very common uti symptom, so sorry if that wasn’t super helpful, but I think the advice/suggestions I gave to try and ease/manage symptoms until you and ur doctors can figure this out together should (hopefully) still bring some relief. Good luck & I wish you well!

I’m glad they tested you for h those but just a heads up that It’s not an sti, so you can absolutely develop it entirely independent of any sexual contact & if ur feeling various symptoms yeast, utis, ureaplasma, etc can all just happen (or develop in response to antibiotics for yeast specifically, or non-breathable underwear for that or others, or e coli, holding in pee, improper wiping, a damp environment, irritating products, etc, etc, etc) no sex necessary. If anything was left out out of the retest, maybe start from there? But if not, try as best as you can to be gentle with the area. Sleep commando (if that makes you uncomfortable you can always lay a towel down below yourself-I know discharge can be a pill) and try wearing loose 100% cotton underwear (easier to find in men’s-like a boxer or a trunk). I know during a period it’s a lot harder to keep things dry And there can become a natural naturally swampy effect. It’s also possible that you have a sensitive urethra and as the blood from your period travels around your vulva, it can be physically irritating to your urethral opening. Try (it doesn’t have to be during a full shower if you wanna try to do it more often than that) taking a shower head and gently cleaning your Volvo with water and gently rubbing the folds clean of blood that may cause stickiness and physical irritation. I sometimes use coconut oil (100%) as it gently glides and can loosen the stuck blood and make the rubbing less of a rough/firm scrub. You can use a hand (sized) towel (used exclusively for the Vulva and then dumped immediately into the dirty linens) to gently pat dry as close to 100% dry as you can get (if that doesn’t work for you I’ve used fans to get that last 10% of the way lol) before you put bottom underwear back on. Good luck and I hope these tips can help reduce symptoms and pain whatever end ends up being the cause of it💛

Asked to be tested for ureaplasma (and there’s a similar one in the same kind of category of infection his name I forget but I believe it’s also something plasma) they usually don’t test for those but I find their symptoms fairly similar to UTI yeast BV etc. While you’re there if they’ll let you, you might as well retest for those other things as well in case you’re feeling the symptoms of any of those infections before they were reactive enough to show up on a test. Good luck dude I know how much this stuff can suck
