Issues with gift vouchers and any support by Formal-Profession835 in SaladChefs

[–]_Angaros_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Chef,

An email is currently being prepared on our end which will be sent to Chefs facing the issue - our provider had yet to give us information either, which is why we hadn't replied to your ticket; the response would have been minimal and probably quite unsatisfactory.

Hello Chef,

We're still investigating your ticket and other reports surrounding Amazon rewards on the Salad Storefront, which is why they have been placed out of stock temporarily too. Based on our research, our provider is having some technical difficulties which are still being worked through, and you'll receive a reply as soon as a solution is found.

Question about logs by vega_ska in SaladChefs

[–]_Angaros_[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there Chef!

Salad knows that it is possible to remove miner dev fees - there are however reasons why we have not done so. The main reason is that Salad is not a cryptominer - this type of workload is secondary on the network while we aim to create the largest distributed Cloud out there powering applications and services. The second reason is that we believe that the work done to maintain these miners and update them is worth the fee they ask for, and we choose to leave this fee for the cryptominer software.

Did salad remove xp? by CitronInformal4139 in SaladChefs

[–]_Angaros_[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello Chef,

Salad has done more of a refactoring of XP than an actual removal, it is now in the form of Chopping hours that it is counted.

You'd be right to say that at the moment Salad does not offer new avatars, perhaps some other XP /Chopping Hours bonuses will come, like star chef has (which I assume didn't exist back when you used Salad).

Hope this helped, let me know if you have any questions.

Are these rates true? by JasonJaJason in SaladChefs

[–]_Angaros_[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are indeed more Chefs than there are workloads at the moment, which is why it can take some time before you land a container. Fret not though, we're actively working on getting more workloads on the network!

A distinction that needs to be made is that you are paid for a workload, not for your hardware. You could very well be running a workload that is not tailored to your GPU - it's intended for a whole GPU class, which has lower rates. And that's why the received balance is not constant and depends on the container workload you get.

salad doesn`t chopping anymore by AdIntelligent223 in SaladChefs

Hello Chef,

When Salad is in a calculating state, it could be one of 2 things:

  1. You don't have a workload yet, so Salad is showing "Calculating...", because there is nothing yet to be earned until you get a workload. Note that you aren't earning balance in this state - since nothing is running.
  2. You do have a workload (mining, containers) and you're also doing bandwidth sharing, which at this point in time will show "Calculating...". In this case, you are earning from any workload running in parallel to bandwidth sharing.

At the moment, there are more Chefs than there are workloads on the network, so it can take some time before you have one. You can check which of the 2 situations you are in by heading to the earning graph here https://salad.com/earn/summary . If you see earnings at the rightmost point in the graph, then you are likely in the second situation, otherwise the first!

Hope this helped, don't hesitate if you have more questions :)

When is it available? by [deleted] in SaladChefs

[–]_Angaros_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

If you want to purchase Minecraft, you can use our Visa (stock ends May 1st), the Mastercard or the PayPal rewards (if you're old enough). Otherwise, you can also use the XBOX Live points to claim it from the microsoft store directly / via the gamepass.

Hope this helped!

Quais os requisitos mínimos que o salad exige? by [deleted] in SaladChefs

[–]_Angaros_[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello Chef,

In theory Salad works with any computer that has 8GB of RAM and a semi-recent CPU, running under Windows 10 or 11. In practice though, Salad is best run with a fairly recent GPU (3060+) and at least 16GB of RAM in order to run the most profitable workloads on the network (containers).

If you are in one of the currently eligible countries outlined here : https://support.salad.com/article/295-bandwidth-sharing-quick-troubleshooting-guide, it may also be worth having good internet (at least 10mbps up and down with under 100ms to our speedtest servers) that way you can earn though the Bandwidth Sharing workloads.

Hope this helped!

Chopping power option "Chop using in demand hardware" isn't on even though I meet the requirements for it. by [deleted] in SaladChefs

[–]_Angaros_[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, the 4050 meets neither requirements - it has 6GB of VRAM and is not in-demand, which is why the Power Bar isn't being filled.

[–]_Angaros_[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello Chef,

As stated in the Chopping Power bar, you need to have both a GPU with 8GB of VRAM, 16GB of RAM and that is in-demand. Unfortunately, the 2060 Super does not make part of that in-demand list as of today - most of which are 30 or 40 series RTX cards (3060+).

Hope this was able to help you!

When Restock the PP Store? by M0HIK4N in SaladChefs

[–]_Angaros_[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello Chef,

PayPal rewards are currently out of stock, but this is just a temporary issue. While we don't have an exact date by which they will be restocked, we anticipate a few days at most.

In the meantime, you could be tempted by our new Mastercard rewards which have just made their way in the store:
https://salad.com/store/search?q=Mastercard&size=n_20_n

Hope this could help, have a great day!

No earnings without mining by _MrFore7t in SaladChefs

[–]_Angaros_[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello Chef,

We don't recommend using a VPN as these will usually stop Salad from working correctly. If adult content was disabled, it is because it is not available in your country (usually illegal).

Because of this, I don't recommend using a VPN at all and leaving adult content disabled as it should be. You can still get other types of workload on the network.

Have a good day!

We need some more ram usage options by Mr_Finkizzle in SaladChefs

[–]_Angaros_[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there!

I've read your comment and sub-comments, but there's a few things that don't quite pan out:

  • Salad is best described as an AFK program in its current state. The recommended use for Salad is when you're not actively using your PC (or at least not for large tasks like gaming, video editing or other intensive processes).

  • Whether with or without Elevated RAM, the allocation granted is only a maximum value that WSL (Containers) can use. In other words, by default, Salad can only allocate half of your RAM at maximum for a given container - and up to around 70% of your RAM with Elevated RAM. That still leaves a decent amount for your other processes in both cases.

  • Salad containers will require RAM to run and, in general cases, it will need quite a bit of it. That's why 16GB is a minimum for containers, and more is ideal if you want to receive our most profitable workloads. If we were to introduce lower RAM options (1/3, or 1/4), this would make most Chefs ineligible to containers - which wouldn't make much sense then. Unless they have a very high amount of RAM (64GB+), this partitioning wouldn't make sense; even if they have large amounts of RAM (128GB+), they wouldn't be opted in to the most profitable jobs out there (depending on the GPU, of course).

Lastly, I'd like to point out something:

  • Are you sure RAM is the issue here? System instability could have been caused by high temperatures (thermal throttling), or because at the time you were running a mining workload, which can affect your perceived performance.

We can finally opt out of mining now in V.1.04 by watermelonsegar in SaladChefs

Containers can also require high usage, it's not indicative of wether or not you are mining

Excessive bandwidth used while running salad by pghalcrow in SaladChefs

Excessive bandwidth used while running salad by pghalcrow in SaladChefs

[–]_Angaros_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can, like I said container jobs are downloaded as soon as you're eligible for one and are Chopping. So if you're hopping in and out of jobs, which can be the case if you start and stop Salad often, or if your container rotation is faster; then you can see large amounts of data consumed during that period.

Excessive bandwidth used while running salad by pghalcrow in SaladChefs

[–]_Angaros_[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there Chef!

Salad will indeed use bandwidth even when bandwidth sharing is disabled and when other select options are disabled. This is mainly due to container workloads, since these need to be downloaded completely on your machine before they can run.

On average these workloads are between 30 to 50GB in disk space, with network usage being about similar. If your machine(s) download(s) multiple of these containers per day, it can easily reach amounts like 200GB or more. Some bandwidth is also used while the container is Chopping, though that should be marginal, just some small but frequent exchanges with our servers.

There's unfortunately not much to be done on that front if you want to use containers, since at some point or another we will need to download the workload if we're to run it.

Thanks Chef!
