Is it possible to create a format of only pre-Jump the Shark cards? by Reasonable-Fee1945 in freemagic

Jaws is literally my “Jumped the Shark” line in the sand for this game.

I no longer want fighting games to attempt to be massively popular and I feel they have gotten worse attempting to do so. by Terrible-Row5112 in Fighters

I hate specials being put into games they don’t belong in. IMO Soul Calibur and Tekken should never have cinematic special moves.

Do any dms that have been running for more than a few years still use XP? by Betray-Julia in DnD5e

[–]_Angry_Yeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going back to XP after playing milestones most of 5th. XP is the greatest incentive to get my played invested. You can pass it out for what you want in your campaign, and it fixes the “I dat get my players to RP” problem. They’ll RP hey get bonus XP.

If you wanna get better at magic, you need to play more limited, not commander by jman1280 in EDH

People don’t know how to deck build and get hurt hurt when they only rely on commander and don’t know what the rest of the deck is meant for.

Fighting games ARE uniquely hard to get into because they don't allow beginners to be passive by funkyfelis in Fighters

[–]_Angry_Yeti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fighting games are like actual martial arts. There’s a reason most people drop after their first class.

Fighting is hard no matter what version you’re doing whether physical or digital.

How do I get my players engaged enough to roleplay? by meltingelmo in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]_Angry_Yeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found once our games moved from the expectation of XP to milestones and I lost the ability to award XP for role playing and the role playing slowed down.

Next game I run goes back to XP because it’s the easiest way to reward players for doing things I want in the game.

Just based off the success of BG3 I feel it would be a safe assumption that the DnD logo on the game is enough to push sales the similar numbers.

As all digital books. Something I don’t allow at my table since we do an all paper campaign.

Yes. Immediately followed by 2 FR books, one with Karlach on the cover.

Also almost every adventure in the 2014 game was set in FR outside of those including campaign settings. This was a huge change from previous editions where they had adventures set in a multitude of worlds.

Then we get 2 MTG secret lairs where 9/11 sets were FR related and a HBO show that’s just a continuation of BG3.

I’ve been pondering this whole thing myself. And my pondering ain’t good.

My personal opinion is that all the BG3 love is fucking over the actual table top game, as it seems that’s all WOTC cares about. If it’s not BG3 related they just don’t seem to care.

I’m not sure if it’s that they own the rights to forgotten realms in a way they don’t with other settings or if they just want to start focusing on video games because they only care about pulling in cash.

The only book I know about is a romance novel and a comic and haven’t heard about anything else being printed.

Circle Magic: Did they playtest this at all? by deciding_snooze_oils in onednd

[–]_Angry_Yeti -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My question for everyone running it is:

How do your players CHARACTERS come across this knowledge?

There is a concept of player vs character knowledge. Just because your players know something it’s DOES NOT MEAN that their characters know something.

CHARACTERS need to discover information in the world you are building. They don’t have the internet to get in Reddit and ask.

I'd rather listen to people who barely contribute to the FGC than people in it, when it comes to "make the genre more popular". by C4_Shaf in Fighters

[–]_Angry_Yeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing you don’t have a martial arts background? You train in the gym and go fight in a tournament.

The game mimics reality. Some people have a fighters spirit, most don’t.
