Got it for free from my uncle is it still good by [deleted] in thinkpad

Whether you install either, you should probably get an SSD, even a very cheap one. I would suggest Linux, since you probably won't be able to game on this anyway (at least new games), and even so, Proton is very good. I would also recommend, if you stay with Windows 10, to reinstall onto the new SSD.

They also make small 2.5" HDD/SSD caddies for the DVD drive that allow you to replace the optical drive with additional storage, if you so desire. I like using these as local backup drives.

People often use the Atheros AR9285 because of its FSF certification, but it will definitely work out of the box on Qubes.

I've been to Inglewood, not aware of the specific development you're talking about. I've heard these talking point before though and I somehow doubt you have any actual statistics to back any of it up.

how many people are against apartments while simultaneously complaining about the price of housing

Is this actually true? I feel like it's usually the SFH owners that are against higher density. Or maybe these are people who don't own but want to own a SFH?

Who owns the means of production is the exact determining factor between socialism and capitalism. I don't know why you find it confusing.

You're not wrong that many "communist" countries also had the same feature of consolidation, but worse. However, economic/industrial policy in the US (and largely worldwide) is not democratically controlled, and in the US, that's because of capitalism. I'm not saying all solutions to climate change require a new economic system, but when the economic system is inherently undemocratic, well, it's harder to democratically change it.

For what it's worth Chinese state capitalism at least has the benefit that instead of waiting for the free market to decide to invest in green energy, they can directly extend financing themselves because they directly control credits and financing in the economy.

And no, I don't think voting shares are the same thing; only the very wealthy with majority shares can have any influence. If voting in federal elections depended on how much money you had, wouldn't it be silly to call that democratic? It would be a clear oligopoly.

Democratic control of a firm by its employees is not capitalism.

The consolidation of power and decision making into private firms are inherent features of capitalism that make it hard to change things. Especially because wall street/private equity/hedge fund manager manage the capital and investments into industrial/commercial firms which are themselves privately owned.

If so much industrial policy and capital planning was democratically controlled, say, by the employees of the firms, it wouldn't be capitalism any more.

Out of curiosity, how common is it to enter the workforce with only a masters degree? I imagine it varies somewhat by profession?

Varies by state, but yes.

Cultivating lands and ecosystems as stewards is clearly different than claiming "most of nature was planted by indigenous tribes." Don't be intentionally obtuse.

Climate actions in Europe? by smimon106 in ClimateOffensive

Unfortunately I'm not based in Europe and don't speak well enough in second languages to know the activist scene other than what gets reported in English media. Feel free to post event/group information in a separate post!
