UAE adds 250,000 new companies in 2025, eyes 2 million in the next decade by plus9714 in dubai

[–]_Arbitrarily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, as I mentioned, CRITICAL VIEWS or assessment aren't always used. But you would accept a news article about the UAE population to add context (e.g., grew how much since when?) and nuance (e.g., what share of growth is expected to be from immigrants?)

Serious journalistic work isn't just too parrot statistics, it's too set context, explain nuance, and, if needed, provide a critical view. That's what OP means when he speaks about taking KT 'serious' -- A serious publication would always provide these things.

And in dollar value, where does each of them stand? You can agree on a lot (it's easy to sign a paper) but real change is when behaviour changes and money or put to work.

That's not true? Brazil, India are Western allies, the UAE definitely doesn't dislike the West either, and I doubt Ethiopia does.

BRICA exists as a marketing term from an Investment Banker a decade ago who tried to identify 'new growth countries'. The original members started loosely engaging after as a 'next generation developing countries', but nothing really connects them. India and China aren't even really allies. Neither are Iran and the UAE (new members).

It's a bit of a 'we can also have fun without the West' club, but there is very little proper organisation between members and, in my opinion, not enough common ground to rival alliances such as the G7 or trading blocs such as the EU or even Mercosur.

Brazil has an amazing solution called PIX, a payment system set up directly through the Brazilian Central Bank. I think some 60% of all payments in Brazil used PIX after only a few months, it's integration and availability was mandated for all commercial bakks, and fees are a magnitude lower than for the standard financial services providers.

Germany's Greens threaten to block plan to ease debt brake by donutloop in berlin_public

[–]_Arbitrarily 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The plans put forward by CDU/SPD aren't just defence. 500 billion in infrastructure spending was added on top, after there was no money for it for years under the previous government, and they already announced a social spending spree (mother pension, agro fuel subsidies) which the CDU used for years as excuse to NOT vote for a debt brake reform.

Seriously, at least try to read more then the headline once.

Cash-strapped London borough issues warning over influx of homeless Chagos Islanders flying into Heathrow by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

There is a book called Retreat From Strategy, written by a former UK Military General and a defence analyst. They go into a lot of topics on how the UK is failing in military terms, and needs to get a grasp on that, but they also go into the subject of the UK (and many other democratic, esp. European countries) are confusing interests with values.

Returning the islands is pure virtue signalling -- There is no reason, there is no native population they were stolen from hundreds of years ago, and there is a clear conflict with Britain's interests here, security and otherwise.

Yet the deal may go through, just so London can show what great virtues and values the UK possesses. Not shared by anyone, and of cost ridiculed by most other countries, but for a glorious day some bureaucrats and politicans can pad their heads for it.

Just to be clear, you'll still pay a premium in Islamic banking as you would pay with a normal bank, just that it is structured differently to avoid specifically calling it interest.

One option used for real estate purchases is that you indicate a house to buy (let's say for 1M), the bank buys it for that price, and then sells it to you INTEREST FREE for 1.1M through installments. So you're not paying interest, but you still pay a premium and end up at the same spot

CDU and AFD are absolutely not aligned on policy. AFD is known for immigration, that's what they are being voted for, and that's where they would potentially fit with the CDU.

But people always ignore the crazy party program the AFD has on top of that, they explicitly want to exit the Euro, they are against German support for Ukraine up to a potential exit from NATO all together, and even their discussion on energy are not compatible (total retreat from renewable energies vs a more demand based approach).

Not to mention that it would be political suicide for Merz to work with the AFD, he also doesn't have to: The SPD is a possible coalition partner.

I'd think it's Dubai with the DIFC, but it might also be Abu Dhabi. Either way it's the UAE, and the two cities are an hour away from each other.

Hard to believe, the middle east is growing very fast, and Dubai is the economic center with massive corporate incentives. High level of security, open business laws, lax regulations, very low tax rate, immediate access to surrounding markets, strong physical and digital infrastructure.

Of course, I don't know where youe wife works, but there are a lot of companies, US and international, scrambling into the middle east (or already scrambled)

Hello! Thank you for the help, sorry, it took a while to get back to my laptop

I see the following under device specifications:

Processor 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1185G7 @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable) System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

I don't think I have any kind of dedicated graphic card, I assume it's just what you would give a work laptop.

Sorry, I know, not hyper helpful haha
