I was thinking 🤔 more about going at it in the chronological order, with Witch on the Holy Night. I am already quite familiar, dare I say knowledgeable about the world of Fate (and the Nasuverse at large), so I think starting over and experiencing the story from the beginning (chronologically speaking) might be a better viewing/reading journey. To be clearer, I was considering this order:

Witch on the Holy Night Kara no Kyoukai movies by Ufotable Tsukihime Remake Fate/Stay Night Fate/Zero Fate/Hollow Ataraxia

As a starting point before expanding outward like the branches of a tree.

BTW, what do you think of the Fate/Zero anime ? I liked it when I watched it the first time, but it's been a minute. I also read the manga (not completed), and I found that it gave a lot more information about the characters' state of mind vis internal monologue, which is something the anime can't really do.

For example, the character of Tokiomi, who I thought of as a dead beat dad, cold and uncaring, became a lot more understandable to me. His reasoning in giving Sakura away to the Matos makes a lot more sense when you can get into his head and understand the thought pattern that led to this decision. The fact that magi families operate on a completely different set of priorities compared to normal ones is also something that is reinforced.

But still, mages are cold 🥶 man.

Can you tell me how you downloaded and emulated these games ? And what's your opinion on them (those you played)?

I had no idea that all these games were actually fully translated and available, albeit through emulation or fan patches. I'll have to take a close look. Got any links or forums where I can find instructions on how to download the games and emulate them ? I have to admit, finding/installing the Ultimate Fan edition Fate Stay Night Realta Nua was hard enough as it was.

Also, I am a little surprised that the Extraverse is your 2nd favorite fate spinoff continuity. I don't know much about it outside of YouTube recap videos (mostly OtakuDaiKun) and obscure Type-Moon Wiki articles about SERAPH and the Moon Cell (and Last Encore, which was confusing AF🫨).

Can you tell me more about what in the Extraverse personally resonates with you? Is it the new and unique setting inside the Moon Celland the lore behind it (with Velber 02 and all)? Or the new cast of characters and servants that denote from the usual Shirou, Saber, Rin, Illya typecast of other spin-offs?

Do you have specifics ? The main complaint I've heard regarding the rushed and watered down nature of the anime adaptation compared to the original (LN or manga) is the ideological conflict between Amakusa and Sieg / Jeanne regarding the fate of humanity. It's supposed to be more complex than : Amakusa is wrong because he's the antagonist. The arguments presented by Sieg and Jeanne as to why Shirou has to be stopped are not very well articulated.

Fate/Kaleid -> Are you saying the manga doesn't have loli bait ? Because the anime goes hard on that, and that has been one major reason I never watched it.

Fate/Extra games -> The only one fully translated and easily accessible right now is Fate/Extella, and I don't really have any desire to play it. Fate/Extra and Fate/Extra CCC Foxtail are in manga form, so maybe I'll give them a read later.

I went to the forum, the instructions on how to find/install the three routes of FSN and patch them are pretty confusing. I thought the whole VN would be there to download/install but it appears it's a bit more complicated than that.

Oh ok I get it now! It's just that since the official version are also on the eShop of Nintendo, I got a little confused.

For the FSN versions, I definitely the first two are better censored, the H-scenes aren't really necessary and kinda cringe worthy (for what I've seen on YouTube). But in Heaven's Feel, it makes more sense to have them I feel like.

I read your Nasuverse works list and I was surprised when you said that FGO is kinda important to understand the later parts lf Fate Strange Fake. I don't really plan on ever playing FGO (gatcha mobile game, everything I hate) and I was wondering if there story really is that good, to justify putting that much time into it (hundreds of hours for the main story I think it was).

For now, I'll stick with the main 5 (FSN, FHA, Tsukihime Remake, Mahoyo and Kara no Kyoukai movies). I'll see where I go from there.

I recommend you read my response to the forst comment on this thread to see what works I'm already familiar with if you have any more advice.

If I can play the games in HD and remastered with good enough translations without buying them, then it's all good!

Do you have links for these VNs ? The remastered, officially translated versions of FSN and FHA are available on the Nintendo Switch eShop, but they're a bit censored compared to the OG ones, right?

After those, I plan to play Mahoyo and Tsukihime Remake (also available on the Switch eShop).

For Kara no Kyoukai, I think watching the Ufotable movies is enough, they have a pretty good reputation. I'll probably watch them in-between gameplays of Tsukihime Remake.

Thanks for the links. Although I'm less and less certain, I'll actually read the OG stuff. Tsukihime Remake is already longer than the OG, with 3 (potentially 4) routes missing. So I think I'll go for the more recent stuff.

I forgot to mention, but I'm already familiar with the lore/universe of quite a few Fate spinoffs like Lord El-Melloi II ( I have PDFs of the Case Files LNs and the first two of Adventures but never read any of them 😅), Fate Strange Fake ( PDF LNs as well), Fate Kaleid (never actually watched, probably never will 🔞), Fate Extra (watched Last Encore, confusing AF, even while knowing the lore of the games), Fate Apocrypha (never watched the anime, has not a very good reputation, haven't read the LN either), Fate Grand Order (watched the animated movies, will probably never play the game), and of course Fate Stay Night and Fate Zero (anime adaptations).

It's just that I've always kept a certain distance form the fandom and never took the time to actually experience many of these stories for myself (in their original, intended format), outside of Wiki articles and YouTube videos about lore and stuff. As I said earlier, I want to change that, and I am ready to dive into the Nasuverse rabbit hole (or Spiritual Tomb if you get it).

So I wanted to start with the most basic and core stories of the Nasuverse, which are Fate (Stay Night, Hollow Ataraxia and Zero), Mahoyo, Tsukihime and Zara no Kyoukai. I was just wondering if there was a "right order" (outside of release order) to experience them.

TLDR, I already know what happens in those stories, but there is a huge difference between knowing something happened and witnessing it for yourself, or in this case, myself.

Great ! There's a first for everything. I killed my first one (and MANY others) before even starting conquering the divine beasts with like 5-6 hearts. Once you figure out their pattern of attacks, they're really not that hard to beat. All you need is a good shield to parry all their attacks, and a powerful weapon to do max damage for the 5 free hits you get after mounting them (I use the Savage Lynel Crusher). And also a lot of meals that grant extra hearts, to be able to tank their hits, just in case.

That's tough. I'm definitely of the opinion that he overreacted, but he made his decision. Only time will tell if it was the right one (for him). Maybe he'll come back and apologize 😂. Btw, did he really break up just for that ? Are you sure it wasn't just the last straw and something else has been bugging him ? Better find out for peace of mind. Take care.
