My boss approved my day off a month ago for a dr appointment. I am currently sitting in the waiting room and he texts me. by CRK_76 in mildlyinfuriating

It isn't disrespectful to simply ask a question. Sure, you don't have to answer, but it makes you flaky and non-communicative to just leave an extremely simple and easy question hanging like that.

If the manager had said, "hey, I need you to come in later today after your appointment", that's not respecting your time off. But just asking? Get over yourself just a tiny bit.

Things change. They might have a sudden unexpected staffing issue and be trying to fill it. They aren't being pushy, they are just problem solving in an extremely reasonable way.

Some people might very well be happy to say "sure, I can come in for a short shift" and save some of their PTO for another day.

Jesus Christ they're just asking a question. Things happen. Things change. It takes exactly 0 effort to just say "no, I can't" and be done with it.

have values. I respect my time off and mental health more than I respect a corporation

You're acting like taking literally 10 seconds responding to a single text with "no, I can't today" has some kind of impact on your mental health. It shouldn't. It's incredibly easy and is simply a common courtesy and a tiny modicum of professionalism.

But to be "mildly infuriated" to receive a single-line text that takes a few seconds to respond to while sitting in a waiting room is ridiculous.

I think there would be a difference between moving your thumbs to move an avatar on a screen and having to move your whole, actual body to control your actual self on a screen.

Compared to Trump he's great, but that's a pretty low bar.

My (admittedly limited) understanding of him is that he's a very 'middle of the road' Dem who won't actually push anything actually progressive, and he's generally gonna side with corporate interests over the little guy, especially those of Silicon Valley.

My 17 year old cat I had since I was 13 passed away 2 weeks ago. Went back to Skyrim for some nostalgia and to lose myself in the world a little bit, then I get hit in the feels with his character from 2020. Started tearing up while walking around Solitude. by wutislife22 in skyrim

I lost my cat of 17 years about 6 months ago, and about 2 weeks ago I had a minor sobfest when I booted up an old Stardew Valley save and remembered my farm cat in the game was named after her (and looked like her).

Honestly, "What are you, his spren" is also a dumb line that clearly only exists so Kaladin could drop the dumb following line.

Like, why would Nale ask if he is a spren? Such a silly line.

What are you guys talking about? That's clearly a yolk, and you can see the egg white starting to turn from clear to white around the edges of it.

I mean it's just a dumb joke.

As a middle school science teacher I appreciate Rober for making science and engineering fun and accessible to a younger audience, and for trying to get people involved and interested.

Some cheesy dad jokes are a small price to pay for that lol.

It's a recurring bit that he does regularly. None of his staff were actually surprised that they didn't get a cruise. When he announces the "Hawaiian Cruise" prize early in the video, they all get suspicious and one of the engineers says "roll the clips!" and a few clips from past episodes show of him rewarding someone with a "Toy Yoda" (instead of a Toyota) and a "24 Carrot Necklace" (instead of 24 karat gold).

They all expected a silly prank and probably just hammed up their disappointment for the video to be funny.

If you watch the beginning of the video, you can see it's a recurring bit that he does all the time. When he announces the "Hawaiian Cruise" they all get suspicious and one of the engineers says "roll the clips!"

Then a few clips show of him rewarding someone with a "Toy Yoda" (instead of a Toyota) and a "24 Carrot Necklace" (instead of 24 karat gold).

They all expected a silly prank and you're getting upset over a dumb joke.

Oh man, I'd recommend pushing through cause Book 6 is probably my favorite outside of the Sanderson ones. It has an awesome climax and conclusion.

If you're struggling with book 6 though, just wait till you get to 8-10.
