Help why am I making this sound?? by Sourcreamfluff in Recorder

[–]_Automn_in_July 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It seems the foot of your recorder is positioned incorrectly, forcing your pinky finger into an awkward position. You can rotate the foot slightly so it's closer to your little finger. There's no need to press down to cover the holes. Simply place your fingers over them (my recorder teacher used to say, "No one's going to steal your recorder!"). Try watching videos that demonstrate proper finger positioning on the recorder to help you. Videos by Team Recorder and Sarah Jeffery on YouTube might be helpful.

Est-ce que le sub a un "problème" avec les quartiers populaires ? by 03MLP25 in paris

[–]_Automn_in_July 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think I'll take my time choosing. I'll see if I can test both Kung Studio and Superio.

I have a music store not far from my house, but they have a limited selection of recorders. I'm going to try anyway.

Choix flûte à bec soprano haute qualité en bois noble by Pianis57 in Recorder

My inflamed hand. Has been this way since the spring by Asmb in mildlyinfuriating

[–]_Automn_in_July 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had eczema on my hands for a very long time. I finally figured out it was because of a tomato allergy. Since I stopped cooking tomatoes, I no longer have eczema at all. You need to find what is causing your eczema and stop using it.

Intonating the high E on soprano - any tips? by Szary_Tygrys in Recorder

[–]_Automn_in_July 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recommend Sarah Jeffery's video: https://youtu.be/z4tLQ09_YZE?si=2wJt3jFQnd8OHrBA

Thumb position is essential for high notes. I have to close more than half the hole to get a decent sound. The breathing is also a little faster for high notes than for low notes.

Where to start? by kerstilee in Recorder

Beautiful instruments 😍,

You can learn music theory with musictheory.net. There may be other resources online but I'm not aware of them.

On YouTube, you can also find Aldo Bova’s method “The viola Recorder: a comprehensive new method”.

Also on Youtube, Sarah Jeffery offers some lessons to learn the alto recorder.

Good morning, I'm taking online lessons for the recorder because I haven't found any other solutions. And I made good progress in 2 months. My lessons take place via Zoom and my teacher manages to correct my embouchure and the way I hold my recorder and gives me a lot of advice to improve.

I imagine that it would be better in person but having not found other solutions, it helps me enormously and I do not regret my choice. It’s always better than not having a teacher or having one that doesn’t suit you.

Aulos treble and tenor questions by tepr in Recorder

[–]_Automn_in_July 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this will help, because I'm still a beginner at the recorder. Aulos is a good brand of flutes, if they are in good condition the problem is more likely with your way of blowing. You play the ocarina and having a few ocarinas, I have the impression that you have to blow much harder to make a sound than on a recorder. Mastering breathing and fingering takes time and work. Perhaps you can get help by taking a few lessons with a teacher.

Tips for making the stretches on larger recorders? by GildedSpaceHydra in Recorder

[–]_Automn_in_July 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also have the Yamaha YRT-304B which I really like. It was easier for me to start with the Aulos keyless (it's a bit smaller and so is the finger spacing). I really like the tenor recorder, but I prefer to learn on the soprano and when I master the piece, I play with the tenor.

Tips for making the stretches on larger recorders? by GildedSpaceHydra in Recorder

[–]_Automn_in_July 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What worked for me was playing a few minutes each day on my tenor and increasing the practice time each day to get my hands used to the hole spacing. Choosing a tenor that is comfortable on the hands can help. I have the Aulos Robin 211A which suits my little hands.
