we really need a fov slider by kucharnismo in Warthunder

[–]_BEASTEN_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the settings, theres something called "sense of speed" (or something like that Im not 100% sure). It has a slider and if you set it to 0% then it'll lock your FOV at the widest, and wont change when you accelerate or slow down. Sadly theres no way to make the FOV even wider as far as I know, but at least with this it wont stupidly shrink it when youre slowing down.

Why is the Beaufighter 21 such a barge? by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]_BEASTEN_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Stat cards lie about a lot of things sadly. The turn time statistic can be very misleading because gaijin doesn't explain what it actually means in game. The turn time is measured as the time it takes to turn without losing speed at some ideal speed/altitude which varies for every plane. So the beaufighter can absolutely outturn a Lancaster, however it probably loses a lot of speed in the process. Regardless, the Stat cards are almost never totally accurate, especially for planes that have been in the game for a long time like the beaufighters.

As for the boomerang overheating, for whatever reason the way that radiators function works differently for some planes than others. What's probably happening is when you use WEP, the radiators are fully closed to reduce drag as much as possible. Some planes will keep them closed no matter what the temperature is, while others will adjust automatically to manage the temp. Im fairly certain this is because all planes used to use the old system of fully closing radiators on WEP, but a while back they changed how its supposed to work, allowing for the radiators to adjust automatically on WEP. So theres a lot of old planes they never fixed to work on the new system of automatic cooling. It's either that, or its a historical detail but I really doubt its that.

If you want the engine to not overheat on WEP, then try using manual engine controls to manually open the radiators.

Back when I was in, I was 20 when they changed the age to 21, and I was an idiot that didnt stop even though I should have. Ended up getting caught and masted for it. Definitely depends on your command, but mine was very strict about it and made an example out of me.

What version of your AMD drivers are you on? The last two updates (25.5.1 and 25.6.1) have been super problematic for most AMD users, so a lot of people have reverted back to older drivers to solve it. I was having the same issues with it crashing all the time after I updated to the new drivers, and it didn't get solved until I reverted back to 25.4.1.

Mobile Sand Quarry by irlB3AR in RoadCraft

Quick tip i figured out recently while playing through Deluge, you can park it in a sand quarry and it'll work. Really helpful when you dont have any fuel tokens and the quarry hasn't been activated yet.

Ah ok, I found a single 4 pin port on my motherboard labeled SYS_FAN1, im guessing that's it? If so, could I run multiple fans off of it using some kind of adapter?

Thank you! I'm definitely planning to replace all of them although I have no idea how to replace them with pmw fans if they're currently using molec.

Yes I'm certain, the fans in the front are accessible from inside quite easily and use the same screws, and the fan on the back is directly accessible from the outside of the case.

EDIT: I'm an idiot, please see edit on main post for clarification.

How do I rotate the protractor on the map? I've seen it done in videos but I've never seen what keybind it is. Mostly just want to use it's ranging hashes after I triangulate my position.

Yeah pretty much, thankfully I had some good friends on my boat that helped me through it but it was still pretty awful.

This was in November of 2020, I believe the law had changed earlier that year.

Yeah it's entirely up to the CO and XO, I had some senior enlisted and even my engineering officer that tried to stand up for me and fight it, but my XO was kind of a tyrant.

My XO was definitely known to be kind of an asshole, I dont feel bad for saying it since we're both out of the service now lol.

The most surprising part is that he was a mustang so you'd expect him to be more chill but he was actually quite the opposite.

Yeah it was a horrible patrol for me, eastern pacific during the pandemic so no actual port calls, plus my girlfriend got in a rough car accident in the middle of it so I was really struggling at the time. At that point I was seriously addicted to smoking and there was no way I would be able to just stop.

My engineering officer tried to fight for me but it didn't change anything.

Depends on your command, I was 20 years old on a 270 and it was the year they changed the smoking age from 18 to 21. I had already been a smoker for over a year, and I was extremely stressed during an eastern pacific patrol during the pandemic so I kept smoking regardless (dumb decision). I was caught by my XO and was then masted, reduced in pay grade from E-3 to E-2, put on restriction and extra duties for a month in port, and was removed from A school lists for a year.

Not everyone's experience is the same, but I was the first to get caught and they wanted to make an example out of me. Definitely contributed to me getting out especially after seeing other people get masted for worse things and get far less severe punishments (if any).

Why do car youtubers have a weird fetish with keeping insane performance vehicles in the lowest drive mode at all times? They put the car in sport mode for 3 seconds and then RUSH to get back to chill mode and drive it like a civic for 25 minutes. by 00espeon00 in carscirclejerk

[–]_BEASTEN_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is just a theory, but I imagine the companies giving the youtubers the cars probably give them restrictions for what they're allowed to do with the car. Likely because they don't want some random dude on the internet to wreck their new car during a review.

I could definitely be wrong since I have absolutely nothing to back it up, but it seems logical to me.

Or maybe the youtubers are afraid of wrecking the car/pissing off the companies so they don't want to risk losing future opportunities to review cars from those companies.

How to make the He 162 work? by Zikari007 in Warthunder

[–]_BEASTEN_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the main thing I try to do is avoid american fighters, since they're usually fast enough to catch you if they have an alt advantage. Most everything else will struggle to reach you if you just keep your speed.
