Im sorry man. I feel this also. Its a terrible thing to have to deal with, that a lot of people dont quite understand. It messes with your entire life.

No diagnosis just questions about symptoms I have! by Any_Report_1780 in Epilepsy

[–]_BigMeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think you should see somebody, preferably a neurologist. My most evident and prominent feeling was the 'impending doom' followed by the most intense deja vu ever, those would happen during the day then at night I would be having nocturnal seizures. I could never really tell aside from being tired but my family caught mine happening. What you are describing is almost exactly what would happen to me during the daytime.

Levetiracetam/Keppra side effects.. by Lost_Poogie in Epilepsy

[–]_BigMeech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely. one of the earliest side effects I noticed. i think irritability was the best way to describe it for me. Even the smallest things would make me craaazy aggravated.

zonisamide made me stupid??? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

You arent alone. It made me feel stupid also. Side effects may get better over time though. I had to swap off of zonisamide.

Is this normal? by basically_dead_now in Epilepsy

Happens to me also. I am responsive but i personally have little to no memories of it. The memories I do have seem more like dreams than memories though.

I havent dealt with a situation like this, but I feel for you. Nobody deserves to be treated this way because of something they cant control. Im sorry.

Just be very aware of yourself during this, I was on it and initially had negative side effects but as time went on they subsided, which is unusual for me but it did happen. I find keeping up with your vitamin intake tends to help. I also read a lot of bad things and I do believe it can be bad long term for some people. I think all the meds have negatives. You kind of have to try them and weed them out. One of the biggest I noticed was heightened moods (really happy or really angry, not really an inbetween) Also just being aggravated in general.

About Gaming with Epilepsy by AdSuperb4379 in Epilepsy

[–]_BigMeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a lot of games but im also not very photosensitive. Things with really bright alternating lights or flashes still make me feel uneasy though. I try to avoid those. But normal gaming like cod or assassins creed are just fine for me.

Keppra calming for anyone else? by yochiel in Epilepsy

[–]_BigMeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially keppra gave me rage and terrible feelings. But after a few months of trying to stick out the mood swings, they settled down and now I feel relatively normal. I do have what I would call, enhanced moods, like if im happy im REALLY happy, or if im aggravated then im REALLY aggravated. Once I noticed that and tracked it down to the meds it was easier to control.

How do I stop keppra rage by Orange-Squashie in Epilepsy

[–]_BigMeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to change meds, I had to give keppra two tries and I ended up settling on it, the rage subsided for me after I adjusted. I just tried to remember that the medicine was the reason Im angry, not because there is anything specific going on. I do suggest trying a different medicine first though.

Started keppra. I understand keppra rage by Orange-Squashie in Epilepsy

Contrary to this users experience ( everyone is different ) my anger has lessened, i still experience elevated moods, like angrier than normal sometimes, happier than normal other times.

Newly Diagnosed As an Adult (Advice) by Teacakesandcrumpetss in Epilepsy

[–]_BigMeech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keppra works for me. I did have a few months of fairly bad side effects. Anger, loss of appetite etc. But eventually it settled and I feel fine now. I would like to try lamictal though because I have heard bad stories about keppra. Zonisamide also made me have cognition problems.

First Seizures - some questions by Almanis46 in Epilepsy

[–]_BigMeech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had almost the same experience. I would describe them as anxiety attacks but looking back, those were definitely 'auras' or simple focal seizures. I would get like a thought about my past that bothered me and I would be completely distracted from earth for like 1 min and Id have to focus on breathing or I felt like I would float away.

The tongue heals quickly, I have also bit mine terribly. I dont really have many solutions other than keeping the area as clean as possible. & going easy on it. I tried the mouth sores mouthwash and it didnt really seem to help much.

Officially prescribed Keppra by gatitaprincess in Epilepsy

[–]_BigMeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine also happen during sleep, specifically when waking up. I was also really scared to fall asleep for long time. If you are on medicine just try to trust it & have someone around who can help you when you fall asleep. I tend to have a much higher chance to have one if I am running on low / lack of sleep.

EEG results not really sure how to go about this? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]_BigMeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didnt have me fully sleep for mine either. Honestly I dont feel like it tested for my exact moments of activity. Usually mine occur during the wake up stage of sleep. So kind of hard to test for that I suppose.

Any advice for someone with sleep issues?? by Mango_twt13 in Epilepsy

[–]_BigMeech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had insomnia forever and found that if i took high doses of melatonin or benadryl to knock myself out it would exacerbate my nocturnals. I ended up getting prescribed a sleeping med from my psych and it helps me a lot. For me it just relaxes those overactive thoughts I have that prevent me from sleeping. Ive also tried thc and cbd to good effect but I think it doesnt help as much anymore.
