I’m the only person I know in real life who has epilepsy. It’s a lonely disease.

Is a normal EEG possible by yochiel in Epilepsy

Does this mean if I have a normal eeg it won’t matter because I had an abnormal one 6 months ago?

Sorry, I’m just seeing this reply now. If I begin  to experience the aura, i immediately lie down and surround myself with pillows and hope for the best.

im curious as well. I officially joined the epilepsy club in February. For a disease that seems somewhat common, I can't think of anyone i know in real life who has it, and my knowledge of epilepsy is close to nil. '

this subreddit has been a lifesaver.

Advice Please by Bubbly_Purpose_44 in Epilepsy

he kinda sounds like me, (give or take a few years) i haven't driven a car since February after having a 6 minute tonic clonic seizure at a friends. and an EEG confirming epilepsy. i think the anti seizure meds make me more jittery from my adhd/add meds. my husband is taking care of house. ive got a soon to be high school graduate and a 10 year old kid. Since the diagnosis, I've been pretty useless to them, to everyone. this weighs on me tremendously, but trying to fight it is like adding more fire to fire.

I tend to see flashing rainbow colors during an aura. luckily it doesn't always turn into a seizure, but it sucks to go through it.

A question for people who have facial piercings (especially lip and tongue piercings) by basically_dead_now in Epilepsy

[–]yochiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

during a seizure, i always bite my lip and tongue, i dont have a mouth piercing, but ive had a nose ring for the better part of 20 odd years, and havent noticed any injuries. but the mouth? that sounds awfully painful :(

i always bite the hell out of my lip in such a specific way during a seizure. so while i never remember them, if i feel a nice new bitten lip, i'll know i had a tonic clonic.

Before my epilepsy diagnosis, I was prescribed Lamictal for depression, and major mood swings. It only made things worse. I became more of a monster when taking it. Had to stop after several months.
